Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 3EMY4CX - Large illustrated map promotes the Wire2Wolves Heritage Trail in Warrington, Cheshire, linking places associated with the town's rugby league history. Displayed in Golden Square shopping centre, the panel uses a stylised street plan, numbered stops and QR code inviting visitors to scan for more information. The route includes Warrington locations such as Sankey Street, Museum Street, Palmyra Square, Bridge Foot, Knutsford Road, Wilderspool Causeway, Victoria Park and the area around Warrington Wolves' Halliwell Jones Stadium.
The design combines town-centre wayfinding with sporting heritage. Small drawings identify civic buildings, waterways, bridges, parks, former grounds and current rugby venues, helping visitors understand how the club and the wider game developed across Warrington rather than at one site. References to Wilderspool and the modern stadium connect different eras of Warrington Wolves, while the route reflects links between rugby league, industrial communities, local identity and working-class leisure.
Warrington has a major place in the history of the sport. The town's professional club was founded in the nineteenth century and became one of the leading names in northern rugby league. The heritage trail presents that story as a walk through the urban landscape, encouraging residents, supporters and visitors to explore locations connected with players, grounds, matches, supporters and community life.
The image is useful for editorial coverage of Warrington Wolves, rugby league history, sports tourism, heritage trails, town-centre regeneration, community identity, visitor information, walking routes, QR-code interpretation and the promotion of local history inside a modern retail centre. People seated beneath the map show the display functioning as part of an everyday public space rather than a conventional museum exhibit

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2R5PNJ6 - This image shows entry signage and turnstiles at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, home of Warrington Wolves, located on Mike Gregory Way in Warrington, Cheshire (postcode WA2 7NE). The blue sign clearly identifies Turnstiles 1“3 and indicates ticket-only access, reflecting standard matchday crowd control procedures.
Professional rugby league stadiums rely on clearly marked entry points and controlled access to manage supporter flow, ensure safety, and comply with licensing and security regulations. The signage includes club branding and is mounted against the stadium's red-brick exterior, combining functional information with team identity.
Such turnstiles are used during Super League fixtures and other events hosted at the stadium, forming part of the wider infrastructure that supports professional sport in the UK. The absence of spectators suggests the image was taken outside match hours, allowing the signage and built environment to be documented clearly.
Photographed in daylight, the image is well suited to editorial use covering rugby league, sports infrastructure, stadium operations, ticketing systems, crowd management, and the organisation of professional sporting events in England.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2MN7PCH - An 18m high mural adorns the gable end wall of the old magistrates' court which now forms part of the Pyramid arts centre at the corner of Museum Street and Winmarleigh Street.
'Reflection of Warrington' was created as part of a partnership between Wired Young Carers, Culture Warrington, Spearfish Arts and renowned illustrator Will Barras.
The project cost £6,000 and was funded by a local trust foundation.
Children, aged between eight and 15, were given a break from their responsibilities caring for loved ones to help work with Will on the design.
The idea was to find a new way for young people to engage with the town's history.
The group decided on a range of images including iconic structures such as the Golden Gates and the Barley Mow, famous faces like Jonathan Blackburne, the Lord of the Manor of Warrington famous for growing the north west's first pineapple at Orford Hall, and the Mad Hatter's tea party scene from Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland.
Scenes illustrating the town's industrial heritage are also featured alongside a depiction of the ill-fated RMS Tayleur which was built in Warrington.
Will and the team spent 46 hours on the street art design over six days using 25 litres of emulsion and 100 spray cans.
The project has been around a year in the making with a workshop in February to gather ideas on how the mural should look.
Planning permission to paint the wall was approved at the end of September when Historic England raised no objections.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy RMJ3AT - Warrington Town Football Club is an association football club based in Warrington, Cheshire. They were established in 1949 under the name of Stockton Heath Albion, adopting their current name in 1961.
Formed in 1949 by Jimmy Drinkwater, the club was initially named Stockton Heath Albion and competed in the Warrington and District League until 1953, when they moved to the Mid Cheshire League. Freddie Worrall became manager at the same time, and during a 13-year spell in charge, the club won the league in 1959“60 plus the League Cup in three consecutive seasons during the 1950s. During his thirteen years at the helm, Heath were one of the most feared sides in Cheshire football, winning a string of honours including the Mid Cheshire League Championship in 1959“60, the League Cup in 1953“54, 1954“55, 1955“56 and made several appearances in the Cheshire Amateur Cup Final. Several players from this successful period went on to join Football League clubs, including Ian Weir, John Green, Alan Foster and Roger Hunt, later a World Cup winner with England in 1966.
At the club's 1961 AGM, it was decided to change the name to Warrington Town. In 1978 the club were founder members of Division Two of the Cheshire County League. When it merged into the North West Counties Football League in 1982, the club were founder members of Division Three. They finished as runners-up in the first season, earning promotion to Division Two. In 1985“86 Warrington reached the semi-finals of the FA Vase, losing 6“3 to Halesowen Town in a replay. After finishing as runners-up in Division Two in 1986“87, the club were promoted to Division One. In the same season they reached the FA Vase final, where they lost 3“2 to local rivals St Helens Town
In 1989“90 Warrington Town won Division One, and were promoted to the Northern Premier League. In 1992“93 they reached the quarter-finals of the FA Trophy, eventually losing 2“1 at Sutton United, and also became the first Division One club to reach the final

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy RMJ3B2 - An incandescent light bulb, incandescent lamp or incandescent light globe is an electric light with a wire filament heated to such a high temperature that it glows with visible light (incandescence). The filament is protected from oxidation with a glass or fused quartz bulb that is filled with inert gas or a vacuum. In a halogen lamp, filament evaporation is slowed by a chemical process that redeposits metal vapor onto the filament, thereby extending its life.
The light bulb is supplied with electric current by feed-through terminals or wires embedded in the glass. Most bulbs are used in a socket which provides mechanical support and electrical connections.
Incandescent bulbs are manufactured in a wide range of sizes, light output, and voltage ratings, from 1.5 volts to about 300 volts. They require no external regulating equipment, have low manufacturing costs, and work equally well on either alternating current or direct current. As a result, the incandescent bulb is widely used in household and commercial lighting, for portable lighting such as table lamps, car headlamps, and flashlights, and for decorative and advertising lighting.
Incandescent bulbs are much less efficient than other types of electric lighting
incandescent bulbs convert less than 5% of the energy they use into visible light, with standard light bulbs averaging about 2.2%. The remaining energy is converted into heat. The luminous efficacy of a typical incandescent bulb for 120 V operation is 16 lumens per watt, compared with 60 lm/W for a compact fluorescent bulb or 150 lm/W for some white LED lamps.
Some applications of the incandescent bulb (such as heat lamps) deliberately use the heat generated by the filament. Such applications include incubators, brooding boxes for poultry, heat lights for reptile tanks, infrared heating for industrial heating and drying processes, lava lamps, and the Easy-Bake Oven toy.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy EYAX5J - The Warrington Club is one of this historic town's few remaining traditional establishments
founded in 1876 by leading Victorian industrialists, statesmen and professionals for the sole purpose of providing a venue where members could meet on a regular basis in comfortable surroundings to enjoy each others company and meaningful conversation.
The Club offered an excellent opportunity for business ideas, suggestions and deals to be discussed considering that in those early days there was no other means of communication except for a rather hit and miss postal service. In the modern idiom the Club provided what is now known as ˜net working'.
The building occupied by the Warrington Club in Bold Street was purpose built using monies raised by the original 76 founder members. Those familiar with Warrington will no doubt recognise the names of some of the founder members.
Arthur Bennett (1862- 1931) a chartered accountant, was a remarkable character. He served as a Councellor and Alderman for many years and had hopes of making Warrington a ˜Garden City'. Sadly, the Great War shattered the dream but the quality of the one completed terrace of houses in Sankey gives some evidence of his vision. The foundation stone was laid by the great pioneer of garden cities, Ebenezer Howard. Bennett was a prolific writer. His ˜Dream of a Warringtonian', if romanticised, is still a very readable history of our 1,000 year old town, and his collection of poems ˜Songs of a Chartered Accountant' posesses both warmth and charm. Description: Tony Smith image Flickr 4487211765 - 'Anyone taking a passing interest in teh vans that often appear in UK streets will have noticed that BT (British Telecom) has almost now become 'BT Openreach'. At the time of the Enterprise Act 2002 after an OFCOM review, Openreach was created to 'Ensure that all rival operators have equality of access to BT's own local network'.
Field engineers like Alan install and maintain the physical network wiring into end users' premises regardless of which telecoms provider is actually retailing the service to the end-user. Which these days BT is but one. This ex-GPO box is far from the perfect patch panel www.flickr.com/photos/hotpixuk/4438862036/ . All respect to Alan if he manages to trace this fault among this lot!

Anyone who know what I am talking about will probably have experience of twisted pair spaghetti, as does occur as a computer or equipment room matures.
If you are not a techie you may want to have a look at this instead www.flickr.com/photos/hotpixuk/3804831303/ . If you have patch panel envy, read on....
This patch bay was designed and built by Martin Donnison of fordway.com. It supports over five sites and upwards of 1,000 users.
Rackmounted panels, house cable connections. One short patch cable generally plugs into the front side, whereas the back holds the connection of a much longer and more permanent cable. Hardware assemblies are arranged so that a number of circuits or network connections can be supported. They were invented or evolved for early telephone exchanges.

In the bad old days, everyone needed to add their own 13 amp plugs. Luckily, now plugs come with our gadgets. If you were wondering, Brown was Live and Blue was Neutral. Missing from this extreme macro cable is an earth. This woul dbe in the colours of the london underground district and circle line yellow and green, to add to these colours here. The old DIy plugs were designed such that if cables were pulled out, the live brown wire would be removed first.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy RMJ3AW - Warrington Town Football Club is an association football club based in Warrington, Cheshire.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy F7DCXB - Antique Roberts Shortwave, Mediumwave, Longwave radio dial has the strength of a real-world scene: ordinary enough to be believable, but specific enough to support precise editorial use. An antique Roberts radio dial evokes the era when shortwave, medium wave and long wave listening brought news, music, shipping forecasts and distant voices into the home through a single portable set. The object suits stories about broadcasting history, analogue design, domestic technology, nostalgia, radio collecting and the shift from tuning knobs to streaming platforms. The location wording gives the subject enough geographic context for local and regional editorial use while avoiding a generic studio feel. It can work both as a straightforward location record and as a wider editorial illustration of the habits, services, buildings, symbols and small commercial details that shape everyday life.
