Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 3E93490 - A brightly coloured Soul Man ice stock-photo/gotonysmith-Cream.html?sortBy=relevant&pseudoid=237DAF28-A4ED-4448-8173-C0E81ABEEC6F Target=_Blank>cream van is parked at Crosby Beach, north of Liverpool, bringing music, seaside treats and mobile refreshments to the Merseyside coast. The pink, blue and white van advertises freshly made ice cream, lollies, cones and Flannels, with visible social media icons and playful beachside branding. The sandy beach, sea wall, open water and pale coastal light place the scene firmly on Crosby seafront, a popular day-trip destination in the borough of Sefton. Crosby Beach is best known internationally for Antony Gormley's Another Place, the installation of 100 cast-iron figures spread along three kilometres of foreshore, but the everyday visitor experience also includes walking, photography, families, dog walkers, cyclists, promenade users and seasonal food traders. This image is useful for editorial coverage of British seaside culture, ice cream vans, mobile catering, small independent businesses, coastal tourism, family days out, Liverpool day trips, beach refreshments and the continuing appeal of simple seaside treats. The Soul Ice Cream Van has a local social media presence connected with Crosby Beach, while Liverpool visitor coverage describes it as a well-known beach ice cream van associated with classic 99s and lollies. The photograph also works for stories about the economics of seasonal trading, outdoor leisure, post-industrial coastlines, Merseyside tourism, independent food vendors and the way colourful vans become part of the character of a promenade. The dramatic sky, pale sand and parked van create a slightly nostalgic British coastal mood, with the vehicle's modern social media signs contrasting with the old-fashioned pleasure of buying ice cream by the sea. It is a strong documentary stock image for travel guides, local news, lifestyle features, food retail, tourism marketing, family holiday articles, small business profiles and coverage of Crosby Beach as both an art destination and an ordinary working seaside space.

The photograph shows paired blue coastal path waymarkers against a pale blue sky, with pedestrian, shell and cycle symbols indicating a shared coastal route for walking, cycling, leisure and access to the seafront. The sign sits near Crosby Leisure Centre, where Sefton Council lists Mariners Road L23 6SX as one of the visitor access points for Crosby Beach and Antony Gormley's Another Place. The image is useful for editorial coverage of the King Charles III England Coast Path, public access to the coast, National Trails, active travel, outdoor recreation, walking tourism, cycling infrastructure, wayfinding signage, public rights of way and sustainable seaside tourism. Government information published in March 2026 said around 2,100 miles of the path were then open with full access rights in place, while National Trails describes the completed route as around 2,700 miles long around the coast of England. Crosby is a strong location for this subject because its seafront links everyday local walking, beach visits, public transport, family recreation, dog walking, cycling and tourism connected with the Iron Men sculptures of Another Place. The sign's simple graphic design, blue colour and clear symbols make it suitable for articles about coastal access policy, route infrastructure, health and wellbeing, car-free days out, seaside public realm and the growing expectation that beaches and waterfronts should be easy to reach and navigate. The photograph also has value for wider debates about access to nature, right-to-roam reform, government investment in trails and how local coastal paths connect into national walking networks. It is a clean, uncluttered stock image for guidebooks, outdoor magazines, council publications, transport features, walking route explainers and news about the continuing rollout

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2R15NFM - Another Place is a piece of modern sculpture by British artist Antony Gormley located at Crosby Beach in Merseyside, England. It consists of 100 cast iron figures facing towards the sea. The figures are modelled on the artist's own naked body.[1] The work proved controversial due to the naked statues but has increased tourism to the beach. After being exhibited at two other locations it was put on display at Crosby on 1 July 2005. After some controversy Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council decided on 7 March 2007 that the sculptures should be permanently installed at the beach
The work consists of cast iron figures which face out to sea, spread over a 2-mile (3.2 km) stretch of beach between Waterloo and Blundellsands. Each figure is 189 centimetres (6 ft 2 in) tall and weighs around 650 kilograms (1,430 lb). The figures are cast replicas of Gormley's own body. As the tides ebb and flow, the figures are revealed and submerged by the sea, and are subject to corrosion by seawater and colonisation by marine animals. The figures were cast at Hargreaves Foundry in Halifax, West Yorkshire and the Joseph and Jesse Siddons Foundry in West Bromwich by foundryman Derek Alexander

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2JHB6WY - King's College London (informally King's or KCL) is a public research university located in London, England. King's was established by royal charter in 1829 under the patronage of King George IV and the Duke of Wellington. In 1836, King's became one of the two founding colleges of the University of London. It is one of the oldest university-level institutions in England. In the late 20th century, King's grew through a series of mergers, including with Queen Elizabeth College and Chelsea College of Science and Technology (in 1985), the Institute of Psychiatry (in 1997), the United Medical and Dental Schools of Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals and the Florence Nightingale School of Nursing and Midwifery (in 1998).
King's has five campuses: its historic Strand Campus in central London, three other Thames-side campuses (Guy's, St Thomas' and Waterloo) nearby and one in Denmark Hill in south London. It also has a presence in Shrivenham, Oxfordshire, for its professional military education, and another in Newquay, Cornwall, where its information service centre is based. Its academic activities are organised into nine faculties, which are subdivided into numerous departments, centres, and research divisions. In 2021/22, King's had a total income of £1.149 billion, of which £221.2 million was from research grants and contracts. It has the fourth largest endowment of any university in the United Kingdom, and the largest of any in London. King's is the fifth-largest university in the United Kingdom by total enrolment and receives over 70,000 undergraduate applications per year, making it the fourth-most popular university in the UK by volume of applications.
King's is a member of academic organisations including the Association of Commonwealth Universities, the European University Association, and the Russell Group. King's is home to six Medical Research Council centres and is a founding member of the King's Health Partners academic health sciences centre

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy DJ7B0D - Clapham Junction railway station is near St John's Hill in the south-west of Battersea in the London Borough of Wandsworth. Although it is in Battersea, the area around the station is commonly identified as Clapham Junction.
Many routes from London's two busiest termini, London Waterloo and London Victoria, funnel through the station making it one of the busiest in Europe by number of trains using it, more than one hundred an hour outside peak periods.
Each day about 2,000 trains, most stopping, pass through the station, more than through any other station in Europe.[5] At peak times 180 trains per hour pass through of which 117 stop. It is not the busiest station by number of passengers, most of whom (about 430,000 on a weekday, of which 135,000 are at rush hours) pass through. Interchanges make some 40% of the activity and on that basis too it is the busiest station in the UK.[6]
In 2011, the station had three entrances, all with staffed ticket offices, though only the south-east entrance is open 24 hours a day. The most heavily used of the three, this leads from St John's Hill via a small indoor shopping centre, into a subway some 15 ft (4.6 m) wide that connects to the eastern ends of all platforms.
The north entrance, which has restricted opening hours, leads from Grant Road to the same subway. The subway is crowded during rush hours, with the ticket barriers at the ends are pinch points.

Pink Military (originally Pink Military Stand Alone) were a post-punk band from Liverpool. Led by former Big in Japan singer Jayne Casey, other band members included former Deaf School drummer Tim Whitaker, guitarist Martin Dempsey who also played in Yachts and It's Immaterial and drummers Chris Joyce (who also played in The Durutti Column and Simply Red) and Budgie (who went on to The Slits and Siouxsie and the Banshees).
John Peel gave the band his support and they recorded two sessions for his BBC Radio 1 show, the first in November 1979, featuring Budgie on drums, the second in May 1980. The band's only album, Do Animals Believe In God? was released in June 1980, with the band having signed a deal with Virgin Records who acted as distributors.
A further single was released the next month, and proved to be the final release before the band split up in 1981. Casey went on to form Pink Industry, while Dempsey joined It's Immaterial and later the Mel-o-Tones. Joyce joined The Durutti Column and later played in Simply Red.
The Old Vic is a theatre located just south-east of Waterloo Station in London on the corner of The Cut and Waterloo Road. Established in 1818 as the Royal Coburg Theatre, it was taken over by Emma Cons in 1880 when it was known formally as the Royal Victoria Hall. In 1898, a niece of Cons, Lilian Baylis assumed management and began a series of Shakespeare productions in 1914. The building was damaged in 1940 during air raids and it became a Grade II* listed building in 1951 after it reopened.
It was also the name of a repertory company that was based at the theatre. The company formed the core of the National Theatre of Great Britain on its formation in 1963, under Laurence Olivier. The National Theatre remained at the Old Vic until new premises were constructed on the South Bank, opening in 1976. It underwent complete refurbishment in 1985 and in 2003, American actor Kevin Spacey was appointed as new artistic director of the Old Vic Theatre Company which received considerable media attention.
