Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine buskers have been robbed of their spots, so their music has had to go underground.
But it's not just their music that has been taken, it is also their livelihoods. So this Eurovision, Ketchum UK has created a campaign for buskers from Liverpool to give up their usual spots along the Merseyrail network to Ukrainian musicians, giving them the chance to perform for audiences and keep the conversation alive about this unjust war.
Travellers going through the four biggest stations
Liverpool Central, Lime Street, Moorfields and James Street will be able to enjoy authentic Ukrainian busking music.
Each busking spot has a speaker streaming the artists music and a QR code for passers-by to scan to find out more about the musicians' story, videos about them and to donate to the cause.
All proceeds raised will go directly to Supplies for Ukraine C.I.C., who are working to provide essential, lifesaving equipment to civilians and volunteers on the front lines in Ukraine.
There is an accompanying outdoor poster campaign across the Merseyrail network and all tracks are streamed as a playlist on Spotify.

Methodology
Linguaphone's self-study courses follow Linguaphone's in-house methodology of Listen, Understand, Speak. Students are encouraged to listen to the language from the beginning, to begin to read as they listen, and only to speak once they have learned to understand the language presented.
Linguaphone was established in 1901 by Jacques Roston, a translator and language teacher, born in Poland, (Ko?o), and they were the first language training company to recognise the potential of combining the traditional written course with the wax cylinder and later with records.
At the height of their popularity, Linguaphone was not only a large, international publishing house with many prestigious representative offices (for books, records, tapes and cassettes) but they also ran fashionable language schools in a number of major cities across the world, such as London, Paris, New York and Tokyo. This chain of Linguaphone Institutes could claim to be the second oldest among the international language teaching establishments (the oldest being Berlitz, founded in 1878 and known today as Berlitz International, with the controversial[why?] Berlitz method) and, as such, Linguaphone had, at one time, the privilege of being an almost automatic first choice among the famous of the day, including royalty.

A year after it opened, during World War II, it was requisitioned and became home of the government's postal censorship department, while its printing presses were used to print National Registration cards. Its vast internal spaces were used for manufacturing the floors of Halifax Bombers, barrage balloons and woollen material. In the 1940s the building was also used by Unity Pools (formed from Littlewoods, Zetters and Vernons).
The building has stood empty since 2003.
On 2 September 2018 a fire broke out at night in part of the complex. The roof and upper floor of one wing were lost, although the main structure was saved.
Regeneration
In June 2018, developers Capital & Centric announced the new site will consist of a film studio complex and adjacent soundstages to become a new base of Twickenham Studios. Slated to become 'Hollywood of The North', the studios will be named Littlewoods Studios as an homage to the building in which the studios will be housed. It was revealed in August 2019 that work transforming the site into two sound stages and offices was due to start towards the end of the year with the facilities finished towards the end of 2021.
The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority agreed to contribute ?11 million to the project in July 2020. The project intends to have a pop-up studio built on the neighbouring land and ready by the end of 2020, with development of the rest of the project following afterwards.

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (commonly shortened to Alice in Wonderland) is an 1865 novel by English author Lewis Carroll (the pseudonym of Charles Dodgson). It tells of a young girl named Alice, who falls through a rabbit hole into a subterranean fantasy world populated by peculiar, anthropomorphic creatures. It is considered to be one of the best examples of the literary nonsense genre. The tale plays with logic, giving the story lasting popularity with adults as well as with children.
The Daniell Chapel contains one of the best-known features of All Saints', the Lewis Carroll Memorial Window. To mark the centenary of his birth, Carroll enthusiasts from all over the world subscribed to a memorial fund, which resulted in a gift to All Saints' of this striking and unusual stained glass window, dedicated in 1935.
The window was designed by the stained glass artist Geoffrey Webb and depicts a Nativity scene, at which both Carroll and Alice are present. Below the Nativity scene are 5 panels illustrated with characters and scenes from Alice in Wonderland including the White Rabbit, the Lizard, the Dodo, the Caterpillar, Fish-Footman, Mad Hatter, Dormouse, March Hare, Duchess, Gryphon, Mock Turtle, Knave and Queen of Hearts. The famous Cheshire Cat can be found in the centre of the fifth panel. The 3 centre panels contain verses from the Lewis Carroll's poem ?Christmas Greetings (From a Fairy to a Child)'.
Geoffrey Webb's mark was a spider's web that he would incorporate into the design of his windows. The web can be found in the fifth section of the Window, just above the Queen of Hearts and includes the date ?1935'.

The Scandalli Brothers was born in Camerano in 1916 , when Silvio Scandalli ( 1889 -1977) with his brothers Henry and Albino, began making accordions in a small home workshop, and then sell them in nearby Loreto , place of pilgrimage for many believers. It was in 1923 one of the first sales contracts with which the Scandalli brothers undertook to build 25 barrel organs per year for the Belgian Giuseppe Fieres of Mont-Saint-Amand-lez-Gan . In 1930 the Scandalli Brothersit had grown to open a new factory which had a hundred workers and a production of 10 accordions daily [1] .

In those years when the mechanics of the instrument was in continuous development and renewal, the company's research activity was very important, testified by the numerous projects presented at the Patent Office in Milan : the first, from 1924 , bore the title of Improvement in mechanical key devices to combine several voices in accord in bellows accordions , while in 1932 a system was invented that allowed to dismantle the part of the mechanical control organs of both the bass and the chords [1] . In the following years, then, Silvio Scandalli decided to include a small research and patent department in the company.

The entrance passage may have had a guard cell, now blocked up, on the right side, just inside the door jamb. The interior of the broch has two cells within the walls at ground-level. Excavations have revealed the postholes for internal timber buildings and in the 19th century there were said to have been radiating stone piers visible. There are two additional entrances to the broch at upper levels. The north entrance leads both into the interior and to a staircase. The other entrance leads to an intramural gallery

222 miles (357 km) west of the similarly sheltered port of Bergen in Norway
and 228 miles (367 km) south east of T??rshavn in the Faroe Islands. One of the UK's coastal weather stations is situated there, with the local climate having small seasonal variation due to the maritime influence. Being located further north than Saint Petersburg and the three mainland Nordic capitals, Lerwick's nights in the middle of summer only get dark twilight and winters have below six hours of complete daylight.
Lerwick is a name with roots in Old Norse and its local descendant, Norn, which was spoken in Shetland until the mid-19th century. The name Lerwick means bay of clay. The corresponding Norwegian name is Leirvik, leir meaning clay and vik meaning bay or inlet. Towns with similar names exist in southwestern Norway (Leirvik, Lervik) and on the Faroe Islands (Leirv??k)
Evidence of human settlement in the Lerwick area dates back to the Neolithic (4000?2500 BC) and the Bronze Age (2500?800 BC) known from paleoenvironmental records for human activity and the recovery of artefacts, including a stone axe head submerged in Bressay Sound. Iron Age (800 BC ? AD 800) settlement is known at the Broch of Clickimin, which was constructed as early as 400 BC. The first settlement to be known as Lerwick was founded in the 17th century as a herring and white fish seaport to trade with the Dutch fishing fleet. This settlement was on the mainland (west) side of Bressay Sound, a natural harbour with south and north entrances between the Shetland mainland and the island of Bressay.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy D8FBAD - An engine order telegraph or E.O.T., often also called a Chadburn, is a communications device used on a ship (or submarine) for the pilot on the bridge to order engineers in the engine room to power the vessel at a certain desired speed. In early vessels, from the 1800s until about 1950, the device usually consisted of a round dial about nine inches in diameter with a knob at the center attached to one or more handles, and an indicator pointer on the face of the dial. Modern E.O.T.s on vessels which still use them use electronic light and sound signals.
Traditional E.O.T.s required a pilot wanting to change speed to ring the telegraph on the bridge, moving the handle to a different position on the dial. This would ring a bell in the engine room and move their pointer to the position on the dial selected by the bridge. The engineers hear the bell and move their handle to the same position to signal their acknowledgment of the order, and adjust the engine speed accordingly. Such an order is called a bell, for example the order for a ship's maximum speed, flank speed, is called a flank bell.
For urgent orders requiring rapid acceleration, the handle is moved three times so that the engine room bell is rung three times. This is called a cavitate bell because the rapid acceleration of the ship's propeller will cause the water around it to cavitate, causing a lot of noise and wear on the propellers. Such noise is undesirable during conflicts because it can give away a vessel's position.
On most modern vessels the EOT acts as a direct throttle with no intervening engine room personnel.
This one has positions of Full Ahead, Half, Slow, Dead Slow, Stand By, Stop. Astern Finished with engines, dead slow, slow, half and full. German U-boats of World War II contained the dial position Alarmtauchen, the order for a crash dive.

Music was always his life. He taught himself to play the guitar and write songs from an early age. Whilst on the tugs Ronnie Wycherley, as he was known then, formed a skiffle group with workmates just for fun, with the tongue in cheek name, 'The Formby Sniffle Groop'.

This is evident in the London Undersound recordings. This explores the experience of the Al-Qaeda's claimed London bombings of 7th July 2005.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2KEW736 - Ian Kevin Curtis (15 July 1956 ? 18 May 1980) was an English musician. He was the lead singer and lyricist of the post-punk band Joy Division and recorded two albums with the group: Unknown Pleasures (1979) and Closer (1980). Curtis was known for his bass-baritone voice, dance style and songwriting typically filled with imagery of desolation, emptiness, and alienation.
Curtis had epilepsy and depression and died by suicide on the eve of Joy Division's first North American tour and shortly before the release of Closer. Shortly after his death, the three surviving members of the band reconstituted themselves as New Order.
Curtis obtained a job at a record shop in Manchester City Centre, before obtaining more stable employment within the civil service. His employment as a civil servant saw Curtis initially deployed to Cheadle Hulme, where he worked for several months with the Ministry of Defence, before he was offered alternative employment within the Manpower Services Commission in a building at Piccadilly Gardens. He later worked as a civil servant in Woodford, Greater Manchester although, at his request, approximately one year later Curtis was posted to Macclesfield's Employment Exchange, where he worked as an Assistant Disablement Resettlement Officer.
On 23 August 1975, Curtis married Deborah Woodruff, to whom he was introduced by a friend, Tony Nuttall. Ian and Deborah initially became friends and then began dating in December 1972, when both were 16 years old. Their wedding service was conducted at St Thomas' Church in Henbury, Cheshire. Curtis was 19 and Woodruff 18. They had one child, a daughter named Natalie, born on 16 April 1979. Initially, the couple lived with Ian's grandparents, although shortly after their marriage the couple moved to a working-class neighbourhood in Chadderton, where they paid a mortgage while working in jobs neither enjoyed. An artwork dedicated to one of Macclesfield's finest musicians has pride of place in the town centre. The mural of Ian Curtis, the iconic former frontman of Joy Division, is a fully funded Cheshire East Council project and has been painted by well-known street artist ?Akse'. It adorns a building on Mill Street, just across from the bus station.

Ian was brought up in Macclesfield, won a scholarship to King's School in the town and his ashes are buried in Macclesfield Cemetery. He took his own life in 1980.
The commissioning of the mural follows on from Cheshire East Council's approval of the Macclesfield town centre strategic regeneration framework, which the council is continuing to deliver against.
The framework sets out the council's vision for the town centre as a place which celebrates its quirkiness and provides the development sector with the confidence and certainty needed to bring forward investment, jobs and economic growth.
As part of the council funded project, you can watch Macclesfield residents share their thoughts on what the mural brings to their town.
