Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 3EDM02D - Panini FIFA World Cup 2026 Adrenalyn XL trading cards are displayed in a shop, with starter packs, multipacks, tins and brightly branded point-of-sale stands promoting the North American tournament. The image is a useful editorial view of football merchandising, children's collecting, fan spending and the commercial build-up to the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Panini's UK product information describes the official Adrenalyn XL World Cup 2026 collection as featuring 630 cards, with top players, special materials and card designs aimed at collectors and fans. The display also reflects the growing expense of football fandom, where buying packets, chasing rare cards and trying to complete teams or player sets can become costly very quickly, especially for families. The expanded 2026 FIFA World Cup is the first to feature 48 teams and will be staged across the three host countries, adding scale, travel cost and consumer pressure to an already heavily commercialised tournament. This photograph is commercially useful for stories about Panini cards, World Cup souvenirs, trading-card games, football marketing, youth collecting, retail promotions, pocket-money spending, tournament branding, sport merchandising and the cost of following major events. It can also support more critical coverage of rising fan costs, from match tickets, flights and hotels in North America to replica shirts, stickers, cards and other collectibles sold around the tournament. The yellow and green display units, FIFA trophy graphics, packet prices and Adrenalyn XL branding make the image clear and readable as a shop-floor retail scene rather than a generic football image. As a documentary stock photograph, it captures the point where World Cup excitement, childhood collecting, family budgets and global football commerce meet in a supermarket or high street retail environment.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 3DM9906 - A tight, documentary close-up of a retail shop window promotion in Manchester during November, dominated by bold illuminated text reading BLACK FRIDAY EVENT and UP TO 30% OFF. The typography is clean and high-contrast, designed for instant legibility from the pavement, with the bright lettering standing out against a dark background that suggests evening or indoor low-light conditions. To the left edge of the frame, a large display figure or mannequin is partially visible, hinting at a curated in-store visual merchandising setup without revealing a specific brand identity. Reflections and glossy surfaces add a modern, commercial feel, reinforcing the physical, bricks-and-mortar shopping context rather than online retail.
The image is well suited to editorial and commercial themes around seasonal discounting, high street promotions, consumer behaviour, and the annual Black Friday sales cycle in the UK. It can illustrate stories about retail footfall, marketing tactics, price-led campaigns, and pre-Christmas shopping activity, as well as broader business coverage of the retail economy and consumer spending trends. The clear, readable wording makes it highly searchable and immediately usable as a generic visual for Black Friday, sale events, and in-store discount messaging in a British city setting.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 3CPAX70 - Sale Town Hall photographed in the town centre of Sale, Trafford, Greater Manchester, England. The image shows the historic municipal building with its symmetrical stone facade, central entrance, and clock tower, set behind a small public square lined with mature trees. Originally constructed in the early 20th century, Sale Town Hall served for many years as the administrative centre for the former Sale Borough Council and later Trafford Metropolitan Borough Council following local government reorganisation.
The building reflects Edwardian civic architecture, designed to convey permanence, authority, and civic pride during a period of rapid urban growth in the Manchester suburbs. A statue positioned in the foreground forms part of the wider civic setting, reinforcing the building's role as a focal point for public life, remembrance, and local identity.
Today, Sale Town Hall remains an important landmark within the town, situated close to the Bridgewater Canal and the redeveloped Waterside cultural area. The image captures broader themes of local government heritage, the evolution of municipal buildings, and the continuing presence of historic civic architecture within modern town centres across Britain.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 3CPAX7N - This image shows the distinctive papier mache head of Frank Sidebottom, the surreal comic creation of Chris Sievey. The oversized head, with exaggerated blue eyes, dark hair, and fixed expression, became one of the most recognisable visual symbols of British alternative comedy from the 1980s onwards.
Chris Sievey, who grew up in Timperley, Greater Manchester, developed Frank Sidebottom as a deliberately low-tech, DIY character, combining absurd humour, satire, and music. The handmade nature of the head, typically constructed from papier mache and cardboard, was central to the character's identity and reflected a wider punk and post-punk ethos of self-production and creative independence in Manchester's cultural scene.
Frank Sidebottom appeared across television, radio, music performances, and live comedy, often delivering deadpan observations and surreal commentary on everyday British life. Despite the deliberately crude construction, the character achieved cult status, becoming closely associated with Manchester's alternative cultural output alongside music, art, and experimental comedy.
Photographed here in an indoor archive or exhibition setting, with printed artwork and books visible in the background, the image functions both as a documentary record and as a piece of cultural history. It highlights the enduring legacy of Frank Sidebottom as a symbol of British eccentricity, northern humour, and the creative spirit that emerged from Greater Manchester during the late twentieth century.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2R64NM1 - This image shows the brightly illuminated exterior signage of a Complete Entertainment Exchange (CeX) store in Warrington town centre, photographed at night. The bold red lighting and distinctive CeX logo stand out against the darker street environment, drawing attention to the shopfront after trading hours.
CeX is a well-known UK retail chain specialising in the buying, selling, and exchange of second-hand video games, consoles, mobile phones, DVDs, and consumer electronics. Founded in London in the early 1990s, the brand has become a familiar feature of British high streets, particularly in town and city centres.
The night-time setting emphasises the role of illuminated retail signage in maintaining visibility and brand presence beyond normal shopping hours. Such imagery is often associated with discussions around the changing high street, evening economies, and the continued prominence of national chains in urban retail landscapes.
Photographed from a low, angled perspective, the image highlights colour, typography, and lighting rather than street activity, making it well suited for editorial use covering UK retail culture, second-hand markets, branding, high street identity, and the visual character of town centres after dark.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2PNRFC4 - Purplebricks is an online estate agent which operates in the UK. Founded in 2012 by Michael Bruce, Kenny Bruce and David Shepherd, it is backed by investors that include venture capital firm DN Capital as well as Neil Woodford, Paul Pindar, and Errol Damelin.
History
Early history
Michael Bruce, Kenny Bruce and David Shepherd conceived their idea for an online estate agency in 2012.Property sales in the United Kingdom had historically been handled by traditional (or high street) estate agencies
Purplebricks' commission-free, hybrid agency business model was intended to disrupt the UK residential property market, and marketing has been a central element of the company's business strategy.
In 2016, Purplebricks began using the tagline commisery, meaning the misery home sellers feel about paying commission, to distinguish itself from traditional real estate agencies. A full advertising campaign about the concept followed the next year, and ran extensively in the UK, US, and Australia. The campaign won an Effectiveness Award from the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising in 2018 for demonstrating proof on payback on marketing communications, as the campaign contributed to a 218 percent growth in revenue.
In 2019, Purplebricks was added to the Superbrands list, which tracks consumer perception of brand and marketing activity. Purplebricks' presence on the list was seen as an indication that the company had established itself as a household name. In 2020, Purplebricks claimed to have achieved 98 percent brand awareness within the UK

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2R5PPBX - This image shows a WeBuyAnyCar concession kiosk positioned within the car park of a Morrisons supermarket in Stockton Heath, Warrington. The small standalone unit features the company's distinctive green and white branding and promotes on-the-spot vehicle valuation and purchasing services for members of the public.
WeBuyAnyCar operates a nationwide network of kiosks and pods, often located in supermarket car parks and retail parks, allowing customers to sell used vehicles quickly without visiting traditional dealerships. The model reflects broader changes in the UK motor trade, where convenience, speed, and digital pricing tools increasingly shape consumer behaviour.
Supermarket-based concessions such as this illustrate how everyday retail locations have diversified to include financial, automotive, and service-based offerings. For shoppers, the co-location of food retail and car-buying services highlights the growing role of supermarkets as multifunctional community hubs.
Photographed in daylight with no customers present, the image provides a clear documentary view of contemporary UK consumer services and roadside retail infrastructure. It is well suited for editorial use covering the used car market, retail diversification, consumer behaviour, and the changing character of out-of-town shopping environments.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2AERR67 - Primark is an Irish fast fashion retailer with headquarters in Dublin, Ireland, and a subsidiary of the British food processing and retail company ABF. The company is named Penneys in the Republic of Ireland, where it was founded. The Penneys brand is not used outside of Ireland because it is owned elsewhere by American retailer J. C. Penney. The company has operations in Europe and the United States.
The company's first store, still in operation, was founded by Arthur Ryan on behalf of the Weston family (who had founded Associated British Foods in 1935) in June 1969 on 47 Mary Street, Dublin.
Success in the Republic of Ireland led to expansion into Northern Ireland, with Penneys opening a large store in Belfast City Centre in 1971. The company subsequently expanded outside of Ireland with a Primark store in Derby, England, in 1973. The company could not use the name Penneys in Europe outside Ireland as it was registered by J. C. Penney. The name Primark was then invented to use outside Ireland
Primark offers a diverse range of products, including baby and children's clothing, womenswear, menswear, homeware, accessories, footwear, beauty products and confectionery

This can be released for sale to the public in a variety of formats. In most cases, a single is a song that is released separately from an album, although it usually also appears on an album. Typically, these are the songs from albums that are released separately for promotional uses such as digital download or commercial radio airplay and are expected to be the most popular. In other cases a recording released as a single may not appear on an album

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy H9PM1T - House of Fraser is a British department store group with over 60 stores across the United Kingdom and Ireland. It was established in Glasgow, Scotland in 1849 as Arthur and Fraser. By 1891, it was known as Fraser & Sons.
The company grew steadily during the early 20th century, but after the Second World War, a large number of acquisitions would transform the company into a national chain. Between 1936 and 1985 over seventy companies, not including their subsidiaries, were acquired.
In 1948, the company was first listed on the London Stock Exchange, and eventually was included in the FTSE Index before the company was acquired by a consortium of investors including Baugur and Don McCarthy in 2006. On 2 September 2014, Don McCarthy, retiring Executive Chairman of House of Fraser, announced the completion of the sale of 100% of the preferred ordinary shares and B ordinary shares and approximately 89% of the A ordinary shares and preference shares of Highland Group Holdings Ltd, to Nanjing Xinjiekou Department Store Co, a leading chain of Chinese department stores, for an enterprise value of approximately £480 million

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2R64TPW - The Victorian Arcade, in Walsall, West Midlands, is a shopping arcade in the town centre, built in the 1890s. It is a Grade II listed building
The site, formerly the Shambles, a meat market dating from the medieval period, was redeveloped as a shopping arcade in 18957. The architect was Jonathon Ellis. Originally named Digbeth Arcade, it has been restored in recent years, and renamed Victorian Arcade. The T shaped plan is unchanged from the original design.
Inside the arcade there are entrances on Bradford Street on the north-west, Digbeth Street on the north-east and Lower Hall Lane on the south-east. The frontage on Bradford Street has a first-floor balcony of five bays: there are iron ballustrades, with shops and office chambers behind. There are timber oriel windows on the floor above. There was originally a five-bay upper floor on the Digbeth Street frontage, replaced during the 20th century.
Inside, the arms of the arcade have a barrel-vaulted glass roof
they meet at an octagonal space under a glazed dome. Some of the shop fronts in the arcade are original

It is several of the cultivated varieties of Beta vulgaris grown for their edible taproots and their leaves (called beet greens). These varieties have been classified as B. vulgaris subsp. vulgaris Conditiva Group.
Other than as a food, beets have use as a food colouring and as a medicinal plant. Many beet products are made from other Beta vulgaris varieties, particularly sugar beet.

A track that nearly brings tears to my eyes, a memory of a very low time.
But why is it that women like shoes so much? Now I am looking for comments from you lady contacts and those male contacts who do appreciate relaxing in nylons and fine Italian leather....
Shoes are beautiful objects, no doubt about that. Nice shoes are a piece of art. It feels good for females to hold them, look at them, and most importantly wear them. Like a nice china pot that can be held and investigated.
Maybe you look at your shoe collection in the same way that an art collector looks at her art collection. Do you have a much better sense of yourself when you wear nice shoes or boots?
When you think about a wardrobe full of shoes, do you feel safe and satisfied? Do you love the feeling of buying new shoes, wearing them and then looking at yourself in a mirror?
Then you might be tempted.........
Squeeze are a British band that came to prominence in the United Kingdom during the New Wave period of the late 1970s, and continued recording successfully in the 1980s and 1990s. They are known in the UK for their hit songs 'Cool for Cats', 'Up the Junction', 'Tempted', 'Labelled With Love', 'Black Coffee In Bed', 'Pulling Mussels (From the Shell)', and 'Hourglass'. Though not quite as commercially successful in the U.S., 'Tempted', 'Hourglass' and '853-5937' were all American chart hits for Squeeze, and the band have a dedicated following there and continue to attract new fans. All of Squeeze's hits were written by band members Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford.
The group formed in Deptford, London in 1975, and first broke up in 1982. Squeeze then reformed in 1985, and broke up again in 1999.
