The regatta is organised by a self-perpetuating body of Stewards, who are largely former rowers themselves. One exception to this rule is that the Mayor of Henley-on Thames Council is an ex-officio Steward. Pierre de Coubertin modelled elements of the organisation of the International Olympic Committee on the Henley Stewards.

Dating from the medieval era, the Rows may have been built on top of rubble remaining from the ruins of Roman buildings, but their origin is still subject to speculation. In some places the continuity of the Rows has been blocked by enclosure or by new buildings, but in others modern buildings have retained the Rows in their designs. Undercrofts or crypts were constructed beneath the buildings in the Rows. The undercrofts are made from stone while most of the buildings in the Rows are timber.
Today about 20 of the stone undercrofts still exist, but at the level of the Rows very little medieval fabric remains. Many of the buildings containing portions of the Rows are listed and some are recorded in the English Heritage Archive. The premises on the street and Row levels are used for a variety of purposes
most are shops, but there are also offices, restaurants, cafés, and meeting rooms. Chester Rows are one of the city's main tourist attractions.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2ABJGCA - Alexander Francis Mosson (born 27 August 1940) is a Scottish Labour Party politician and a former Lord Provost of Glasgow. He has also represented Anderston as a councillor and served as an official of the Transport and General Workers' Union.
Political career
Mosson served prison sentences in the 1960s for housebreaking, shoplifting and assault, which he attributed to being an alcoholic at the time
an affliction he later overcame.[2] He was first elected as a Glasgow councillor for Anderston in 1984. He was elected Lord Provost in 1999, replacing Pat Lally. He was succeeded in 2003 by Liz Cameron.
Mosson was associated with many notable events during his time as Lord Provost. These included: the UEFA Champions League Final between Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen at Hampden Park in 2002, the twinning of the city with Havana and the promotion of the £500,000,000 Glasgow Harbour Development.
As Lord Lieutenant of the City of Glasgow, the Lord Provost accompanied the Queen at the opening of the Glasgow Science Centre and the Lighthouse. He represented the city at the funerals of The Queen Mother and Cardinal Thomas Winning.
In November 2013, Mosson announced that he had decided to vote Yes in the 2014 Scottish independence referendum, insisting the referendum campaign is not a time for party politics

In 2007, the ninety British diplomatic missions that issued passports were consolidated into seven regional passport processing centres (RPPCs) based in Düsseldorf, Hong Kong, Madrid, Paris, Pretoria, Washington, D.C. and Wellington with an additional centre in Dublin.
The Identity Documents Act 2010 repealed the Identity Cards Act 2006, and required the cancellation of all identity cards and the destruction of all data held.
On 1 April 2011 responsibility for British passports issued overseas passed from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to IPS. The printing of passports issued overseas had been done in the UK since August 2011 and the administrative work performed at these RPPCs was repatriated to the UK during the 2013“14 financial year. From April 2014 all British nationals based overseas had to apply for their passports directly to the UK.
The Identity and Passport Service was renamed HM Passport Office on 13 May 2013 in an effort to reflect the agency's departure from its association with the scrapped National Identity Register and ID cards. The government stated in the press release that The inclusion of 'Her Majesty's' in the title recognises that passports are the property of the Crown, bear the royal coat of arms and are issued under the royal prerogative.
HMPO's executive agency status was removed on 1 October 2014 and it became a division within the Home Office. Its board reports directly to the Home Office's executive management board

A new wooded barrel has been constructed to replace the bottom of the Vimto bottle and new labels have been carved and painted.
The monument was first carved by Kerry Morrison and installed in Granby Row in 1992. Granby Row is the site of the factory where the first batch of Vimto was made by John Noel Nichols back in 1908.
After 19 years of the Manchester weather and attention from city revellers, the monument was in need of a refresh and it has been brought back to its former glory by Nick Lumb at Acorn Furniture in Wrexham.
