History
Maybe was launched in 1933 in Amsterdam. After World War II she underwent a complete refit with a new rig after and took part in the first ever Tall Ships Race in 1956. She has sailed mainly around the Mediterranean and in the 70s regularly crossed the Atlantic between the West Indies and the Mediterranean. In the 80s she also sailed through the Panama Canal and up the east coast of the USA to Canada.
Maybe was sold to the present owners in 1989 and underwent another complete restoration, after which she returned to sailing in 2007.

Maybe is a Dutch wooden sailing ketch launched in 1933 and designed for round the world cruising. After a complete restoration the Ship has returned to the Tall Ships Races recently. She has a full schedule of sailing in Tall Ships events and school Sail Training trips. She has sailed in Tall Ships Races from the Baltic to the Mediterranean and is a big competitor in her class. With small changes to her rigging and sails she gets faster and faster each year.Maybe offers dedicated youth sailing trips, as well as journeys for all ages.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2NYNDXA - The Royal Albert Dock is a complex of dock buildings and warehouses in Liverpool, England. Designed by Jesse Hartley and Philip Hardwick, it was opened in 1846, and was the first structure in Britain to be built from cast iron, brick and stone, with no structural wood. As a result, it was the first non-combustible warehouse system in the world. It was known simply as the Albert Dock until 2018, when it was granted a royal charter and had the honorific Royal added to its name.
At the time of its construction the dock was considered to be revolutionary in its design because ships were loaded and unloaded directly from or to the warehouses. Two years after it opened it was modified to feature the world's first hydraulic cranes. Due to its open yet secure design, the dock became a popular store for valuable cargoes such as brandy, cotton, tea, silk, tobacco, ivory and sugar. However, despite its advanced design, the rapid development of shipping technology meant that, within 50 years, larger and more open docks were required, although the Albert Dock remained a valuable store for cargo.
During the Second World War, the dock was requisitioned by the Admiralty serving as a base for ships of the British Atlantic Fleet. The complex was damaged during air raids on Liverpool, notably during the May Blitz of 1941. In the aftermath of the war, the financial problems of the owners and the general decline of docking in the city meant that the future of the Albert Dock was uncertain. Numerous plans were developed for the re-use of the buildings but none came to fruition and in 1972 the dock was finally closed. Having lain derelict for nearly ten years, the redevelopment of the dock began in 1981, when the Merseyside Development Corporation was set up, with the Albert Dock being officially re-opened in 1984.
Today the Royal Albert Dock is a major tourist attraction in the city and the most visited multi-use attraction in the United Kingdom, outside London.

Plans continue to develop for the full refurbishment of Stockton Heath swing bridge, with works targeted to take place next year.
The works will involve Peel Ports investing around £6million in undertaking a complete structural, mechanical, electrical refurbishment and repainting programme to improve the longevity of this key asset.
The swing bridge, across the Manchester Ship Canal, links Stockton Heath village to the town centre and the north.
Peel Ports and Warrington Borough Council are in advanced discussions for the major refurbishment works to begin in April 2023. This date has been chosen in order to ensure that there is sufficient time for preparations to be made for these works, to ensure that their impact can be mitigated as much as possible.
However, it is clear that these essential works will cause considerable disruption, and both Peel Ports and the council feel it is vital to give as much warning time as possible of the planned works.
The chosen start date will also ensure that the majority of the works are undertaken during more favourable weather conditions. In addition, the inclusion of the summer holidays in the works period (where traffic flows and associated disruption will also be reduced), aims to minimise disruption to children travelling to and from school.
Peel Ports estimate that the works will take approximately nine months to complete and have ensured 12 months' notice to communicate this so bridge users can make alternative arrangements during this time.
Their appointed contractor has looked at all options to undertake these works while maintaining some access for people to cross the bridge. However, due to the extent of the refurbishment, the works can only be carried out safely with the bridge being completely closed to all users, including pedestrians, cyclists

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy DCE75F - The present market, located on Southwark Street and Borough High Street just south of Southwark Cathedral on the southern end of London Bridge, is a successor to one that originally adjoined the end of London Bridge. It was first mentioned in 1276, although the market itself claims to have existed since 1014 and probably much earlier and was subsequently moved south of St Margaret's church on the High Street. The City of London received a royal charter from Edward VI in 1550 to control all markets in Southwark (see Guildable Manor), which was confirmed by Charles II in 1671. However, the market caused such traffic congestion that, in 1754, it was abolished by an Act of Parliament.
The Act allowed for the local parishioners to set up another market on a new site, and in 1756, it began again on a 4.5-acre (18,000 m2) site in Rochester Yard. During the 19th century, it became one of London's most important food markets due to its strategic position near the riverside wharves of the Pool of London.
The retail market operates Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The wholesale market operates on all weekday mornings from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m.
Three attackers from the 2017 London Bridge attack ran to the area, where they stabbed and killed people with knives before they were shot dead by armed police. The market was then closed for 11 days following the attack
