Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 3E91ENY - A close-up documentary view of a public Children's Play Area sign beside open grassland at Red Lane, Appleton, Warrington, Cheshire, with the clear instruction No Dogs Allowed and a red warning symbol showing a barred dog. The image records a familiar but important local public health message: children's play spaces, sports fields and parks need protection from dog fouling, contaminated soil, unpleasant mess and avoidable infection risks. Dog faeces can carry roundworm eggs linked with toxocariasis, and children are a particular concern because they play close to the ground, touch grass, mud, play equipment and football areas, and may put contaminated fingers or objects near their mouths. This makes the apparently simple no dogs sign a useful editorial image for stories about councils, parks management, responsible dog ownership, street cleansing, public space protection orders, hygiene, community safety and the tension between dog walking and safe recreation for children. The scene is plainly suburban north west England, with a wooden post, mown green playing field, goalposts, leafless trees and distant Warrington housing under a bright blue sky with thin cloud, suggesting a cool clear late winter or early spring day. The sign is weathered but legible, with strong black, white and red graphic design. It also illustrates the wider practical nuisance of dog dirt: soiled shoes, contaminated sports pitches, spoiled family recreation, extra council cleaning costs and reduced confidence in shared open spaces. For stock use it can support articles about playground bylaws, no dogs allowed rules, environmental health campaigns, dog waste bins, enforcement, fines, antisocial behaviour, public parks, local authority signage, safe outdoor play, childhood health, disease prevention and the everyday civic detail that keeps parks usable. The subject is a clear British public information sign in a real community setting.

April 2023 - Gambling addicts will die because of delay to reforms, government warned
Affordability checks and slot machine stake limits welcomed but experts call proposals a missed opportunity'
The Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) published a 268-page white paper laying out a shake-up of existing regulations, which date from before smartphones put access to 24-hour casino games and sports betting in every pocket.
The content of the proposals, which have already been delayed on at least four occasions, met with broad support from MPs and campaigners but drew criticism for shying away from curbs on advertising.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2RBN9F0 - This image shows two classic official signs mounted on a high brick wall within a UK council housing estate: a yellow warning sign indicating CCTV in operation and a white sign stating No ball games. Together, the signs reflect common approaches used by local authorities and housing providers to manage behaviour, safety, and perceived antisocial activity in shared residential spaces.
CCTV signage has become a familiar feature across social housing estates, parks, and communal areas, intended both as a deterrent and as part of wider community safety and evidence-gathering measures. The accompanying No ball games sign illustrates long-standing estate rules aimed at preventing damage, noise nuisance, and conflict in areas close to homes, particularly where space is limited.
The pairing of surveillance warnings with behavioural restrictions highlights the tension often present in estate design and management between creating safe environments and limiting informal play or social activity. Such signage is frequently cited in debates around children's rights to play, urban design, and the lived experience of residents in public housing.
Photographed in daylight with clear legible text, the image works well as editorial material illustrating UK social housing policy in practice, local authority enforcement, community regulation, and the visual language of control and safety within urban residential environments.

These pianos provide passerbys a chance to relax and take a break from a hectic pace of life. Seeking out these pianos can be difficult, because the pianos are relatively rare and their locations mostly unknown. This website, pianos.pub, attempts to catalog all locations of all known public pianos to facilitate access to anyone and everyone.
Where did the idea come from?
Public instruments have been available for hundreds of years. The idea of a street piano was popularized in the early part of this millenium. The idea started to take off in 2013 when revolutionized by organizations to promote public pianos in parks and plazas, most notably the Play Me, I'm Your's campaign initiated by British artist Luke Jerram in 2008. Since then, the number of piano sightings has increased steadily every year, often peaking during the summer time.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2JC615W - Anger over Grappenhall eyesore' site empty for 25 years
ANGER is mounting over an eyesore' building in Grappenhall which has been empty for around 25 years.
Grappenhall councillors Ryan Bate and Mike Biggin, along with residents, are growing increasingly frustrated at the condition of the Rectory site, on Church Lane.
Cllr Bate has labelled the state of the property as a disgrace'.
It is both an eyesore and a danger and has been for too long, he said.
About four years ago Warrington Borough Council (WBC), under pressure from Liberal Democrat councillors, had drawn up plans for a compulsory purchase having gone through a long series of enforcement steps.
Then at the eleventh hour the owner died.
Since then, the ownership has been going through a long and protracted probate process, perhaps deliberately so.
From what I hear, the owners had a number of similar historic properties across Cheshire and their working model seemed to be to allow them to fall into a state of disrepair.
I'm not sure what their endgame would be but could speculate.
The two Liberal Democrat councillors have also vowed to continue pressing council chief executive Steven Broomhead over the situation.
Cllr Bate added: Mike and I are in the process of asking for a further update from WBC and are asking Mr Broomhead to intervene to ensure that this is made a priority as it has been an ongoing issue for too long and no suitable solution seems to be within a satisfactory timeframe.
Town Hall chiefs have acknowledged the concerns from residents as they continue to assess the situation.
A WBC spokesman said: The Rectory has been vacant for approximately 25 years.
Its ownership has been a complex issue and we are prioritising a solution as it is unfair on the residents and visitors to this beautiful part of Grappenhall to continue to witness it in its dilapidated state.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2K3T3CM - Its turned out nice again for the former Warrington home of legendary entertainer George Formby.
Hillcrest House, in Walton Road, Stockton Heath, where ukulele playing George once lived with his dad also an entertainer has been refurbished and has become a small business centre run by Warrington-based Purple Accounts.
The house was the Formby family home from 1917 and it was from there that George launched his show business career. It had a brief existence as a boutique hotel, which opened in 2013, when it was also recognised with a blue plaque.
Now it has been comprehensively and sympathetically refurbished by the owner but is still filled with iconic images of Formby, who was at one time credited with being the highest-paid star in UK show business.
There's even a replica of the No 14 motorbike that Formby rode in his 1939 movie No Limits based on the TT races in the Isle of Man where, coincidentally, the first Purple Accounts office opened in 2007.
The new small business centre based at George Formby's House was officially opened by Warrington South MP Andy Carter,

On stage, screen and record he sang light, comic songs, usually playing the ukulele or banjolele, and became the United Kingdom's highest-paid entertainer.
Born in Wigan, Lancashire, he was the son of George Formby Sr, from whom he later took his stage name. After an early career as a stable boy and jockey, Formby took to the music hall stage after the early death of his father in 1921

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2K3XN98 - The Garrard Engineering and Manufacturing Company of Swindon, Wiltshire, was a British company that was famous for producing high-quality gramophone turntables. It was formed by the jewellers Garrard & Co in 1915. The company was sold to Plessey, an electronics conglomerate, in 1960. During the period 1976-1978, Garrard developed demonstrators of the novel video disc technology. Although the team recognised the future potential of this data storage technology, Plessey chose not to invest. After several years in decline, Garrard was sold by Plessey to Gradiente Electronics of Brazil in 1979 and series production was moved to Brazil (Manaus). The remaining Garrard research and development operation in Swindon was reduced to a skeleton operation until completely shut down in 1992. Then, Gradiente licensed the Garrard name to Terence O'Sullivan, who operated as Loricraft Audio, in 1997.
Between 1992 and 1997, the Garrard brand name was licensed to other companies in the US, which imported electronic items built by different, unrelated Far Eastern manufacturers. These included Garrard branded cassette decks, CD players, stereo receivers, portable radio/cassette players, portable Walkman type cassette players, serial-port printer cables, universal TV/audio remote controls, and other miscellany, including turntables that had no connection with any original Garrard design.
In 2018, Cadence Audio SA, who also own the British turntable and tonearm manufacturer SME Limited, took ownership of the Garrard brand and registered trademarks when they purchased Loricraft Audio Ltd. The business was restructured to run under the name of Garrard Turntables UK Ltd.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2K3XNA6 - Miniature Record Player Wondergram', Camp Baird Industries Ltd., England, 1959.
The world of music in the palm of your hand was Camp Baird's Industries Limited's slogan when releasing the Wondergram in 1959. Small enough to fit into the user's hand, this record-playing device promised to incorporate the quality of a regular gramophone into a battery-operated portable record player that could be taken to the beach or on picnics.
Designed by Sergio Favaro, an Italian national who settled in Shrewsbury, England in 1958 and produced by Hartley Electromotives (later, Camp Baird) the portable record player played all standard-size records at two main speeds. Equipped with a low-consumption 6-volt battery, an amplifier, and weighing only two pounds, the Wondergram worked by placing the record on a small automatic spinning wheel which turned the disc. Though produced in England, the Wondergram found its largest market in North America where it was sold as the Emerson Wondergram.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy PC2FCA - Grappenhall Cricket Club played its first game in 1881 on a ground in Bellhouse Lane. The club moved to its current home of Broad Lane in 1892 with a new clubhouse. There have been several new clubhouses built on the existing site with the most recent developments coming in the late 1980's with significant improvements to the facilities in 2011.
In the early days the club played a number of friendly matches. Grappers then played regular fixtures up to the 2nd World War. In 1939, before war broke out, Grappers were founder members of the North Cheshire League but the league was stopped at the start of the war and was never resumed.
From the 1960's onwards GCC were members of the Manchester Association which was the prelude to the clubs most successful period.
The 70's & 80's the golden years
In 1981, after a couple of good seasons following promotion to the top division in the late 70's, the 1st XI won the top flight for the first time. One of Grappenhall's best teams, it included some famous Grappers names such as Duncan Martindale, Rick Houghton, Chris Ashton, Neil Titchard, Jim Green, Nick Sharp and a young Neil Fairbrother, only a few years before he headed off for big things with Lancashire and England.
In 1982, the 1st XI went one better, this time winning the league and cup double with the HC Cup Final being one of a number of appearances the club mate at Old Trafford in the 80's.
The double was repeated in 1987 with another appearance at Old Trafford, this time with the team including another future Lancashire star and future Grappers captain in Steve Titchard. In the same season, the 2nd XI also tasted success by winning the Worthington Cup.
There were a number of other cup successes for the club during this period for the different senior and junior teams, with many a memorable game taking place and the tales still being regaled today.
In 1992, the club were in their last season in Manchester Association before a move to the CCCL

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy PC2FGR - Grappenhall Cricket Club played its first game in 1881 on a ground in Bellhouse Lane.

Description: Tony Smith image Flickr 1101585000 - 'I caught the legendary New York band Television at the Manchester Academy last Sunday. Their début 1975 album Marque Moon is in my top 50 LPs and certainly did hail the true start of the punk era.
Television made their vinyl debut with 'Little Johnny Jewel', a 7-inch single on the independent label Ork Records in 1975. Ork Records was owned by their manager, Terry Ork. The song was split into two parts, one on each side of the single. Richard Lloyd apparently disagreed with the selection of this song, preferring the never-released 'O Mi Amore' for their debut, to the extent that he seriously considered leaving the band.
Tom Verlaine &
Fender Jazzmaster, shown here with Billy Ficca on drums. Jimmy Rip on guitar and Fred Smith on bass made a tight unit, despite Tom Verlaine's criticism of the Academy sound mix and lighting. Great to see after all this time.

Television was part of the 1970s New York rock scene, along with musical acts like the Patti Smith Group, The Ramones, Blondie, Richard Hell, and Talking Heads.
Although they recorded in a raw manner similar to their contemporaries, minimalizing the use of studio techniques, sound effects and atypical instruments, Television's music was unique and technically proficient, defined by guitarists Tom Verlaine and Richard Lloyd. The group's debut album, Marquee Moon, is often considered one of the defining releases of the punk era.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy E6HY55 - Misty Miller (born May 10, 1994) is a musician from Wimbledon, England. The young songstress has grown enormously since emerging as a sweet-singing ukulele player when her debut album was released in 2011. But having left college and discovered her own path, Misty has now returned with her own band (guitarist Jak Payne, drummer Dan Lyons and bassist Jack Everett) and two EPs released in 2013 - Next to You and Girlfriend. Her third EP, Sweet Nothing was released through Relentless/Sony in March 2015.
Influenced by the local South London music scene in Brixton, she has matured her sound into something she is far more comfortable in. A strong 60s influence is also evident in the raw vocals, edgy guitar licks and varied verse progressions. Citing the likes of Patti Smith, The Stooges and The Velvet Underground in her eclectic' music taste, this girl goes a long way in capturing the essence of an era of music she adores so much. And, with her debut album set for a July 2015 release, she is just getting started.

Johnny Marr (born John Martin Maher, 31 October 1963) is an English musician, songwriter and singer. He first achieved fame as the guitarist and co-songwriter of the Smiths, who were active from 1982 to 1987. He has since performed with numerous other bands and embarked on a solo career.
Born in Manchester, to Irish parents, Marr formed his first band at the age of 13. He was part of several bands with Andy Rourke before forming the Smiths with Morrissey in 1982. The Smiths attained commercial success and were critically acclaimed, with Marr's jangle pop guitar style becoming a distinctive part of the band's sound, but separated in 1987 due to personal differences between Marr and Morrissey. Since then, Marr has been a member of the Pretenders, The The, Electronic, Modest Mouse, and the Cribs, and he has become a prolific session musician, working with names such as Pet Shop Boys, Talking Heads, Bryan Ferry and Hans Zimmer.
Having released an album titled Boomslang in 2003 under the name Johnny Marr and the Healers, Marr released his first solo album, The Messenger, in 2013. His second solo album, Playland, was released in 2014, followed by a third, Call the Comet, in 2018. Marr's autobiography, Set the Boy Free, was published in 2016

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy DDJNGD - Bernard John Bernie Marsden (born 7 May 1951) is an English rock guitarist. Having played with Glenn Cornick's Wild Turkey in 1974, he then played with Babe Ruth, from 197576, before becoming an original member of Paice Ashton Lord in 1977 and then joining the hard rock band, Whitesnake, after having the possibility of playing with his boy-time hero Paul McCartney and Wings because while waiting, David Coverdale asked him to form Whitesnake.
In more recent years, Marsden has toured with his bands Company of Snakes, M3 (both formed with fellow former Whitesnake members Micky Moody and Neil Murray), and performed with Elkie Brooks. Over the years he has taken part in a number of sessions and has released a handful of solo albums (And About Time, Too!, Look at Me Now, Green & Blues, Stacks). He has also collaborated with Micky Moody on a number of Marsden-Moody live and studio projects.
On the Sweden Rock Festival on 10 June 2011 Bernie Marsden played with Whitesnake for the first time since 1981, thus becoming the second of only two former Whitesnake band members who have played with Whitesnake in recent years, the other person being Adrian Vandenberg, who also played with them on the Sweden Rock Festival. In the last ten years, Marsden has been involved in very different projects. The most unusual being two engagements at the National Theatre in London for Nickolas Hytner's productions of Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale and Henry the V in collaboration with Simon Webb. Also, he appeared in ZDF television in Germany for their production of Frankie, a six-part TV special.
After this, Marsden has worked alongside Robert Plant, Paul Weller, Ian Paice and Jon Lord for a charity concert in London. Bernie also played Guitar with Ringo Starr and his son Zak Starkey in Monte Carlo. Most recently, he has been playing and writing for guitar virtuoso Joe Bonamassa.

I must say I had pretty much the worst seat in the place and only by blagging an empty seat in the row behind, managed to get a decent view.
The brilliant set played on the night which is apparently not aranged in advance with the band included: I shiver, Worry, The Things You Do To Me, Bad Influence, Dont You Even Care, It Doesn't Show, On The Road Down, I'll always Remember You, Phone Booth, Poor Johnny, I Can't Fail, Smoking Gun, Chicken In The Kitchen and Still A Man.
The Robert Cray UK June Tour takes in The London BluesFest 2012 at the O2 Shepherds Bush Empire, The Glasgow O2 ABC, Birmingham Town Hall, The Holmfirth Picturedrome, Reading Sub89 and The Brighton Concorde2 (July 2012).
Robert Cray (born August 1, 1953, Columbus, Georgia, United States) is an American blues guitarist and singer. A five-time Grammy Award winner, he has led his own band, as well as an acclaimed solo career.
Cray was signed to Mercury Records in 1982. His third album release, Strong Persuader, produced by Dennis Walker, received a Grammy Award, while the crossover single 'Smokin' Gun' gave him wider appeal and name recognition.
By now, Cray was an opening act for such major stars as Eric Clapton (who remains a friend to this day), and sold out larger venues as a solo artist. Cray has generally played Fender guitars (Telecasters and Stratocasters) and there are two signature Robert Cray Stratocasters models available from Fender. The Robert Cray Custom Shop Stratocaster is made in the United States in the Fender custom shop and is identical to the guitars that Cray currently plays, while the Robert Cray Standard Stratocaster is a less-expensive model made in Fender's Ensenada, Mexico plant.
Cray had the opportunity to play alongside John Lee Hooker on his album Boom Boom, playing the guitar solo in the song 'Same Old Blues Again'. He is also featured on the Hooker album, The Healer
he plays a guitar solo on the song 'Baby Lee'. The entire Robert Cray Band backs Hooker on the title track of Hooker's 1992 album 'Mr. Lucky', where Cray plays lead guitar, sings, and banters with Hooker throughout the song.
Cray was invited to play at the 'Guitar Legends' concerts in Seville, Spain at the 1992 Expo, where he played a signature track, 'Phone Booth'. Albert Collins was also on the bill on this blues night of the 'Legends' gigs.
Cray continues to record and tour. He appeared at the Crossroads Guitar Festival, and supported Eric Clapton on his 2006-2007 world tour. In Fargo, North Dakota, he joined Clapton on backup guitar for the Cream song 'Crossroads'. In 2011, Cray was inducted to the Blues Hall of Fame

Ace of Spades' is perhaps the best known song by the English band Motörhead. The 7' vinyl single was released in October 1980 as a preview to the album Ace of Spades and autumn tour. Bronze Records also released a 12' vinyl pressing in special Christmas picture sleeves, limited to 50,000 copies. The picture of the band in Santa outfits used on the cover was taken at the Aylesbury Fair, while the band were on tour.
Its a staple of their live shows and I have probably seen it played as encore three or four times. For the lyrics, Lemmy said he 'used gambling metaphors, mostly cards and dice - when it comes to that sort of thing, I'm more into the one-arm bandits actually, but you can't really sing about spinning fruit, and the wheels coming down'
In March 2005, Q magazine placed it at no 27 in its list of the 100 Greatest Guitar Tracks, stating 'This song has an intro which wouldn't be out of place ushering in the end of the world'. In 2009 it was named both the 10th greatest hard rock and metal song of all time by VH1.
Up to this point the band consisted of the original trio of Lemmy on bass &
lead vocals, 'Fast' Eddie Clarke on lead guitar and Phil 'Philthy Animal' Taylor on drums.

In April 2003, Saddam's whereabouts remained in question during the weeks following the fall of Baghdad and the conclusion of the major fighting of the 2003 Iraq war. Various sightings of Saddam were reported in the weeks following the war but none was authenticated. At various times Saddam released audio tapes promoting popular resistance to the U.S.-led occupation.
Saddam was placed at the top of the U.S. list of 'most-wanted Iraqis'. By July 2003, his sons Uday and Qusay and 14-year-old grandson Mustapha were killed in a three-hour gunfight with U.S. forces.
On the 14th December 2003, U.S. administrator in Iraq L. Paul Bremer announced that Saddam Hussein had been captured at a farmhouse in ad-Dawr near Tikrit. Bremer presented video footage of Saddam in custody. The enduring image of the capture however, was a tabloid photo of the ex-leader in his underpants. The release of the pictures is certainly a violation of the Geneva Convention.
'Pants' is a suitable metaphor for the shaky evidence that originally was used to justify the conflict, which has had devastating effects on the Iraqi people, hundreds of servicemans families and handed Al-Qaeda the perfect environment to recruit for more global jihad. Well done politicians.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy CF1355 - Saddam Hussein playing cards where Saddam is the Ace of spades - Most-wanted Iraqi playing cards
During the 2003 invasion of Iraq by a United States-led coalition, the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency developed a set of playing cards to help troops identify the most-wanted members of President Saddam Hussein's government, mostly high-ranking members of the Iraqi Regional Branch of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party or members of the Revolutionary Command Council
among them were some of Hussein's family members. The cards were officially named the personality identification playing cards. As of 2021, all but 4 of the 52 most wanted have been either killed or captured, eleven of whom have been released.
Each card contains the wanted person's address and, if available, the job performed by that individual. The highest-ranking cards, starting with the aces and kings, were used for the people at the top of the most-wanted list. The ace of spades is Saddam Hussein, the aces of clubs and hearts are his sons Qusay and Uday respectively, and the ace of diamonds is Saddam's presidential secretary Abid Hamid Mahmud al-Tikriti. This strict correspondence to the order of the most-wanted list was not carried through the entire deck, but sometime later in 2003, the list itself was renumbered to conform (almost) to the deck of cards. The card backs feature camouflage reminiscent of that seen on the Desert Camouflage Uniform.
According to US Navy Lieutenant commander Jim Brooks, a spokesman for the Defense Intelligence Agency, such playing cards have been used as far back as the American Civil War and again in World War IIArmy Air Corps decks printed with the silhouettes of German and Japanese fighter aircraft fetch hundreds of dollars todayand in the Korean War. Troops often play cards to pass the time, and seeing the names, faces and titles of the wanted Iraqis during their games will help soldiers and Marines in case they run into the wanted individuals in the field.

Description: Tony Smith image Flickr 4662183553 - 'Often the premise of the back of working mens clubs in Britain (and many other countries), Bowls is a game in which the goal is to roll slightly asymmetric balls, called bowls, so that they stop close to a smaller—normally white—bowl called the 'jack' or 'kitty'. It is related to french boules and goes back to the 13th century. These days in pubs across the land, ex-sunday league pub footballers, quite often go out to grass on the crown green.
Bowls, can be either flat- or crown-green, is usually played outdoors, tradionally on grass and synthetic surfaces. To escape british winter, flat-green bowls can also be played indoors on synthetic surfaces. When national and international matches are televised, this is usually the surface used. Around £100,000 in prizes are available in annual competition and has been watched by up to 3 million viewers on the BBC.
The world's oldest surviving bowling green is said to be the Southampton Old Bowling Green, which was first used in 1299. The worlds longest surviving bowler may be much older, maybe the sport keeps them young (!).
Bowling has a colourful history and was banned in the time of Richard II, when it was thought it may deminsh archery, important for battle. By a further act of 1541 - which was not repealed until 1845 - artificers, labourers, apprentices, servants and the like were forbidden to play bowls at any time except Christmas, and then only in their master's house and presence. It was further enjoined that any one playing bowls outside his own garden or orchard was liable to a penalty of 6s. 8d., while those possessed of lands of the yearly value of £100 might obtain licences to play on their own private greens.
Many British pubs today are named 'The Bowling Green' and indeed, have a well manicured one to the rear.
In 1864 William Wallace Mitchell (1803-1884), a Glasgow Cotton Merchant, published his 'Manual of Bowls Playing' following his work as the secretary formed in 1849 by Scottish bowling clubs which became the basis of the rules of the modern game. Young Mitchell was only 11 when he played on Kilmarnock Bowling green, the oldest club in Scotland, instituted in 1740.

Description: Tony Smith image Flickr 4695553569 - 'The Queen in a deck of french playing cards are often assigned names. These have origins in the bible or from history. The queen of diamonds is Rachel, spades Athena, Hearts Judith and clubs cryptically Argine, which is an anagram of Regina, Latin for 'queen'.
The headress of the english queen playing card resembles a Tudor design. Possibly Elizabeth of York, queen consort of Henry VII of England as is often mentioned in tales and legend is depicted.
Playing cards were found in China as early as the 9th century during the Tang Dynasty (618–907), when relatives of a princess played a 'leaf game'. Its thought that playing cards first entered Europe in the late 14th century, probably from Mamluk Egypt, with suits very similar to the tarot suits of Swords, Staves, Cups and Coins (also known as disks, and pentacles) and those still used in traditional Italian, Spanish and Portuguese decks.
The earliest cards were made by hand, like those designed for Charles VI
this was expensive. Printed woodcut decks appeared in the 15th century. The 78-card Tarot deck, and subsets of it, were used for a variety of European trick-taking games. Allegorical meanings for each card existed as of the earliest days of the deck, but it wasn't until the late 1700s's that the works of Antoine Court de Gebelin made decks based on the Tarot de Marseille popular for divinatory purposes.
A number of people I know swear by tarot readings, others regard them supersticious mumbo jumbo. maybe more a female thing I guess. If you want to share an experience or prediction you have had as a result of a reading (true or false), please leave a comment!

The last time I saw them was in 1981 at a Rock Against Racism gig in Moss Side. I recall Captain Sensible batting off some thrown sandwiches with a cricket bat shaped guitar.
They started tonight with 'New Rose' .
They had the first true punk vinyl single on Stiff Records (strap line 'If it aint Stiff, it aint worth a f**k'). I still have BUY6 with a poor cover of the Beatles Help! on the B-Side.
I was too young to see them in Manchester supporting T.Rex before Marc Bolans untimely death.
The Damned's Captan Sensible played with Lemmy &
Motorhead for sometime forming the link with why they are on the bill with Motorhead and Girlschool this rainy night in Manchester at the Apollo (where they supported T.Rex)
