The events include at least one journey that Cummings, then-chief adviser of Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and his family made from London to County Durham after the start of a national lockdown in March 2020 while they were experiencing symptoms of COVID-19.
Reports of the trip first emerged in May 2020 following investigations by the Daily Mirror and The Guardian. Questions arose about whether the conduct of Cummings and his wife was lawful and appropriate within the framework of government advice and guidance, given that the public were ordered to stay at home, that all non-essential travel was forbidden during the lockdown, and that infected persons had been instructed to self-isolate.
Cummings denied he had broken any rules in a press conference a few days later. Durham Constabulary investigated the trip, concluding there may have been a minor breach, but did not take any further action. The scandal led to criticism from Members of Parliament (MPs) within and outside the ruling Conservative Party, backlash in the media and from the public, and calls for Cummings to be sacked or resign. Prominent politicians in the government, including Johnson, rejected these and expressed support for Cummings. Polling suggested that support for the Conservative Party and confidence in the British government's pandemic response fell as a result of the scandal.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2RA238X - Jeremy James Anthony Gibson-Beadle MBE (12 April 1948 30 January 2008) was an English television presenter, radio presenter, writer and producer. During the 1980s he was a regular face on British television, and in two years appeared in 50 weeks of the year.
Beadle was born in Hackney, east London, on 12 April 1948. His father, a Fleet Street sports reporter, abandoned Jeremy's mother, Marji (9 July 1921 9 July 2002), when he learned that she was pregnant. Before Jeremy reached the age of two he was frequently hospitalised and had undergone surgery for Poland syndrome, a rare disorder that stunted growth in his right hand.
His mother worked as a secretary to help pay to raise him, including a stint for the boxing promoter Jack Solomons. Beadle did not enjoy school and was frequently in trouble. He was eventually expelled from his secondary school, Orpington County Secondary Boys' School. A teacher remarked, Beadle, you waffle like a champion but know nothing.
After his expulsion, he travelled and worked in Europe. He had a number of jobs, at one point taking photographs of topless models, and worked as a sky-diving instructor, lavatory attendant and tour guide. He even briefly worked as a tour guide at the York dungeons. He often said that he gave the best London tour because he realised that what people wanted was stories of blood, sex and death.
Beadle was chosen in 1970 by Tony Elliott, the founder of Time Out, to set up a Manchester edition of the magazine, a venture that was short-lived, though he subsequently maintained a connection with the publication in London. In 1972, North West Arts Association asked him to organise the Bickershaw Festival, and he worked on further musical events over the next couple of years.
In 1973, as an early member of the Campaign for Real Ale, he was elected to their National Executive and secured the campaign's first television or radio coverage in a one-hour programme on BBC Radio London, which he hosted.

A statement accompanying the change.org petition, entitled Bell End Road Name Change, says: As you may be aware, the term Bell End can be seen and used as a rude and/or a offensive word.
As well as this, it can affect people and children including children being bullied and teased at school and generally now become a laughing stock as seen very recently on Facebook and other social media sites and it's time for a change.
We want the local Sandwell Council to acknowledge our name change request to a new road name and at the very least to a similar name.
The petition suggests changing the street's name to Bell Road.
Bell End which leads onto Mincing Lane has become so well known over the years that people have travelled from outside the area to have their picture taken next to its street sign.
Rowley Regis councillor Barbara Price said she could understand residents' concerns and has vowed to meet with council bosses to discuss Bell End.
If some people find the name offensive and children are being teased about where they live then there is obviously an issue, she said.
I will be consulting with residents and speaking to the cabinet member in question to see if anything can be done.

Glossop Town Hall and Market were built by Bernard Edward Howard, the 12th Duke of Norfolk. The foundation stone was laid in 1938. Municipal Buildings started out as the open fish market part of the current market building before various alterations and additions over the years.
The Municipal Buildings is used mainly for office accommodation
the Market Hall is currently empty whilst work to modernise and renovate the facilities takes place
and the Town Hall was used as a public hall/venue but has been out of use since 2008 due to accessibility issues and limited use.
All of the buildings are listed and were the subject of an extensive public consultation exercise as part of the Glossop Design and Place Making Strategy which expresses the aspirations of the Glossop public.
We are working to bring these iconic buildings back in to community use and secure them for the future.
Projects to replace the roofs at the Town Hall, the Municipal Buildings and Market Hall have now been completed.
In November 2021 we were awarded £2m in funding from the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership via their Getting Building fund. This funding, together with the Council's investment, is being used on the £7m project to restore and modernise these buildings and return them to public use.
Construction work will start in Autumn in 2022 and is expected to be complete by early 2024.

The name also applies to the area surrounding its junction with Smithdown Road and Allerton Road, and to the roundabout at Smithdown Place that was the location for a major bus terminus, originally an important tram junction of Liverpool Corporation Tramways. The roundabout was a frequent stopping place for John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison during their years as schoolchildren and students. Bus journeys via Penny Lane and the area itself subsequently became familiar elements in the early years of the LennonMcCartney songwriting partnership. In 2009, McCartney reflected:
Penny Lane was kind of nostalgic, but it was really [about] a place that John and I knew ... I'd get a bus to his house and I'd have to change at Penny Lane, or the same with him to me, so we often hung out at that terminus, like a roundabout. It was a place that we both knew, and so we both knew the things that turned up in the story.
Lennon's original lyrics for In My Life had included a reference to Penny Lane. Soon after the Beatles recorded In My Life in October 1965, McCartney mentioned to an interviewer that he wanted to write a song about Penny Lane. A year later, he was spurred to write the song once presented with Lennon's Strawberry Fields Forever. McCartney also cited Dylan Thomas's nostalgic poem Fern Hill as an inspiration for Penny Lane. Lennon co-wrote the lyrics with McCartney. He recalled in a 1970 interview: The bank was there, and that was where the trams sheds were and people waiting and the inspector stood there, the fire engines were down there. Fair in the Square' has arrived at the Golden Square today, Friday, and will be here for the rest of the summer.
The event, outside the Golden Square, will feature fairground rides as well as coconut shy, hook-a-duck, race car rides, bungee trampolines, food and drink and more.
Head down for nostalgia galore and show the kids how summer is supposed to be spent! a spokesperson for the event said.
The summer fair will be in Warrington until September 4 and open from 10am to 6pm.

The original M&LR single-storey offices facing Hunt's Bank Approach were built in the Italianate style in sandstone ashlar with slate roofs in 1844. They were later enlarged and given a second storey. William Dawes built the station's larger extension for the L&YR in 1909. It is at right-angles to the north end of the old station giving the enlarged station an L-shaped plan. Facing Victoria Station Approach, its façade is in the Edwardian neo-Baroque style, four storeys high and 31 bays to the rounded corner at the south-east end. The ground floor windows have rounded heads and those on the floors above are square. The ornate glass and iron canopy along the façade displays the names of destinations that the station served in Art Nouveau lettering. The canopy was damaged by the Provisional IRA's 1996 bomb placed in a street adjacent to the Arndale Centre and was restored four years later.
Heritage features in the concourse were restored during the 2013-15 renovation, they include the café with its glass dome and mosaic lettering which was originally the first-class dining room, the adjacent bookstall, and the original 1909 wood-panelled booking hall. In the entrance is a large, white glazed tiled map showing the former network of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway.
Underneath the map is a bronze World War I war memorial with effigies of Saint George and Saint Michael at each end which was installed in 1923. At the south end of the concourse is the 'soldier's gate' which opened to the former fish docks from where thousands of soldiers departed for World War I and where a bronze plaque was erected to commemorate them. The gateway was restored in 2015 and a steel screen inserted featuring a map of World War I Commonwealth grave cemeteries in Northern France and Belgium.

The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building. It is an active Anglican parish church in the diocese of Chester, the archdeaconry of Chester and the deanery of Great Budworth. Its benefice is combined with that of St Matthew's Church, Stretton.
The church was built in 1886 to a design by Edmund Kirby at the expense of Rowland Egerton-Warburton of Arley Hall.
It is built in red sandstone with a red tile roof, in Decorated style. Its plan is cruciform with a two-stage tower over the crossing. It has a three-window nave without aisles, a one-window chancel, an oak-framed north porch on a sandstone plinth, and a baptistry projecting from the west end. Above the baptistry is a rose window. The stained glass in the east window is by Harcourt M. Doyle, dated 1970, and that in the rose window is by Celtic Studios of Swansea, dated 1986. The organ was built in 1906 at a cost of £220 (equivalent to £30,000 in 2021), by E. Wadsworth.

The churchyard contains six war graves of British service personnel, three from World War I and three from World War II.

It differs from paddling sports in that rowing oars are attached to the boat using oarlocks, while paddles are not connected to the boat. The flying buttresses were added as a decorative feature. The north porch was removed. The city of Dublin possesses two cathedrals, but unusually, both belong to one church, the minority Church of Ireland, which had been the Established Church in Ireland until 1871. In contrast, the majority religion in Ireland, Roman Catholicism, has no cathedral in the Republic of Ireland's capital city and has not had one since the Protestant Reformation. As the official church, the Church of Ireland took control of most church property, including the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity (generally known as Christchurch) and St Patrick's Cathedral.
The Pro-Cathedral owes its origins to the Penal Laws[b] which restricted Catholicism (and other non-Church of Ireland faiths) until the early nineteenth century. For centuries, Roman Catholics could not celebrate Mass or the sacraments in public and were subject to severe penalties (hence the word penal). While these laws ebbed and flowed in terms of the severity with which they were applied, Catholic churches if they were built at all, were built down narrow, difficult-to-find roadways. By the early nineteenth century, many of the Penal Laws had either been repealed or were no longer enforced
an unsuccessful attempt had already been made to grant Catholic Emancipation. As a result, Catholicism began to abandon its previous status as an underground religion

Description: Tony Smith image Flickr 3153739395 - 'Bridgwater is a large historic market town and civil parish in Somerset, England. Its population currently stands at around 35,886 as of 2011. Bridgwater is at the edge of the Somerset Levels, in level and well-wooded country. The town lies along both sides of the River Parrett, and has been a major in-land port and trading centre since the industrial revolution. Most of its industrial bases still stand today. Its larger neighbour Taunton, is linked to Bridgwater via a canal, the M5 motorway and the GWR railway line.
Historically, the town had a politically radical tendency. The Battle of Sedgemoor, where the Monmouth Rebellion was finally crushed in 1685, was fought nearby. Notable buildings include the Church of St Mary and the house in Blake Street, largely restored, which was the birthplace of Admiral Blake in 1598, and is now the Blake Museum. The town has an arts centre and plays host to the annual Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival.
The Corn Exchange and market house in Bridgwater, Somerset, England was built in 1834 by John Bowen and extended in 1875, by Charles Knowles. It has been designated as a Grade I listed building.
The original market hall, which dates from 1791, is fronted by a circular portico with a domed roof with Tuscan pillars.[2] The distinctive portico was added after the north and south sides of the corn market were demolished for road widening in 1825.
It was originally surrounded by railings to separate the livestock from the food produce. The railings were removed in 1895.
In front of the building is a statue of Robert Blake who was born in the town. The statue was made in 1898 by F. W. Pomeroy and has since been repositioned to face down Cornhill

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy P8DCPG - Bawtry is a small market town and civil parish which lies where the western branch of the Roman Ermine Street crosses the River Idle in the Metropolitan Borough of Doncaster in South Yorkshire, England and meets the old course of the Great North Road. Nearby towns include Gainsborough to the east, Retford to the south south-east, Worksop to the south-west and Doncaster to the north-west. Historically within the West Riding of Yorkshire, it had a population of 3,204 in the UK census of 2001, increasing to 3,573 at the 2011 Census.
Bawtry is located in the metropolitan borough of Doncaster on the border with Nottinghamshire, and is situated between Bircotes and Misson at the conjunction of the A614, A631 and A638 roads. The present A638 was for centuries the Great North Road, and in the 20th century the town was a notorious bottleneck, until it was bypassed in 1965. The county boundary with Nottinghamshire runs just to the south of the town and for this reason the southernmost house on the Great North Road is named 'Number One Yorkshire'.
The town's former prosperity was based on its communications, the River Idle in the days when it was a port, the Great North Road in the coaching era, and the Great Northern Railway.
Bawtry's geographical location is 53° 25' 40 North, 1° 1' West, at an elevation of around 65 feet (20 m) above sea level.
The town is located just south of Doncaster Sheffield Airport, formerly RAF Finningley. Bawtry Hall was home to RAF No.1 Group Bomber Command during and after the Second World War, and became the Headquarters of RAF Strike Command (see RAF Bawtry). From 1989 to 2013 Bawtry Hall operated as a Christian conference centre and a base for several Christian organisations.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy F1J8BF - Pan Am Flight 103 was a regularly scheduled Pan Am transatlantic flight from Frankfurt to Detroit, via London and New York, that was destroyed by a terrorist bomb on Wednesday, 21 December 1988, killing all 243 passengers and 16 crew on board, in what became known as the Lockerbie bombing. Large sections of the aircraft crashed onto residential areas of Lockerbie, Scotland, killing 11 more people on the ground.
Following a three-year joint investigation by Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary and the US Federal Bureau of Investigation, arrest warrants were issued for two Libyan nationals in November 1991. In 1999, Libyan leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi handed over the two men for trial at Camp Zeist, Netherlands after protracted negotiations and UN sanctions. In 2001, Libyan intelligence officer Abdelbaset al-Megrahi was jailed for life after being found guilty of 270 counts of murder in connection with the bombing. In August 2009, he was released by the Scottish Government on compassionate grounds after being diagnosed with prostate cancer. He died in May 2012, remaining the only person to be convicted for the attack. He had continually protested his innocence.
In 2003, Gaddafi accepted responsibility for the Lockerbie bombing and paid compensation to the families of the victims, although he maintained that he had never given the order for the attack. During the Libyan Civil War, in 2011, a former government official claimed that the Libyan leader had personally ordered the bombing. The Church was built in 18489, on land given by the bishop of Winchester and the duke of Marlborough
the cost was met largely from subscriptions, and a gift from the rector Charles Jerram. The architect was Benjamin Ferrey.
The church of squared and coursed limestone with ashlar quoins and dressings and a gabled stone slate roof. There is a two-bay chancel with pointed moulded doorway and Caernarvon-arched window. The five-bay nave has offset buttresses, lancets and two-light windows in each east bay.
An organ was installed in 1860, and new choir stalls and altar rails were fitted in 1869. In 1887 the vestry was enlarged to designs by Clapton Crabb Rolfe, and in 1895 an organ by Charles Martin of Oxford replaced the earlier one.
A new pulpit was fitted in 1909 in memory of Samuel and Mary Shuffrey. It was created in the Wood Green workshop of their son Leonard Shuffrey, the leading architect and architectural designer, who is buried in the Churchyard. James Allen Shuffrey, the notable watercolour artist, and brother of Leonard Shuffrey, sang in Wood Green Church Choir as a boy.

Etruria was the fourth and penultimate site for the Wedgwood pottery business. Josiah Wedgwood, who was previously based in Burslem, opened his new works in 1769. It was named after the Italian district of Etruria, home of the Etruscan people who were renowned for their artistic products. The site covered 350 acres (140 ha) and was next to the Trent and Mersey Canal. As well as Wedgwood's home, Etruria Hall, it included the Etruria Works which remained in use by the Wedgwood enterprise until 1950. The Wedgwood factory is now in Barlaston, a village about six miles to the south of the Etruria site.
Etruria Hall was the site of the substantial invention of photography by Thomas Wedgwood in the 1790s.
After Wedgwood
Much of Etruria became derelict with the move of Wedgwood after the Second World War and the subsequent closure of the nearby Shelton Bar steelworks. Large-scale regeneration began in the 1980s with the Stoke-on-Trent Garden Festival.
Etruria is home to the Etruria Industrial Museum, a scheduled ancient monument, which includes a working steam engine called Princess. The museum buildings were originally a bone and flint mill built in 1857 to grind materials for the pottery industry. Inside visitors can see displays on the history of the site and original machinery. On the first weekend of each month the museum's 1903 coal-fired boiler provides steam to operate Princess which then turns the grinding machinery.

The first single (and a later re-issue) from the Eastbourne band Toploader. I think this really sums up 'The Meeting Place' , a sculpture by Paul Day. Its a 9 metre (29.53 feet) tall bronze statue in St Pancras railway station in London, surrounded by a frieze.

soldiers departing for war and returning injured, and repair works following the 7 July 2005 London bombings. The work was the object of controversy when first erected, as one panel depicted a commuter falling into the path of a train driven by the Grim Reaper. However, following discussions with London and Continental Railways (LCR), this panel was replaced with another.

Its in an unloved street near an old cabinet works building. On this day I passed the lights were on so I walked in. No tripod, so the panorama was hand held.
Cairo Street Chapel is the second oldest surviving place of worship in Warrington and is tucked away just away from the modern shopping area. It holds a lot of history of the town in many of the characters connected with it.
Robert Yates was the founder, ejected from the Church of England in 1662, he obtained a licence for public worship. In 1689, religious dissent was permitted by the Act of Toleration. This Act enabled Dissenters to build their own places of worship and in 1703, following the raising of sufficient money through subscriptions, a chapel was built on land behind Randle Myddleton's Smithy in Sankey Street. This is now Cairo Street.
A deed signed between Dr. Charles Owen Minister of the Chapel and the Earl of Warrington refers to a late erected building or meeting place.
It was during the ministry of Dr. Owen in 1745 that the present larger chapel was built.
Dr. Owen was the minister of the chapel for fifty years from 1696 to 1746 and it was he who lead consolidation and growth of the chapel.
In 1863 the chapel was extensively repaired, the old gallery was taken down and the interior re-seated to make it look much as it does in this photograph.
The Revd. John Seddon followed Charles Owen in the Ministry at Cairo Street Chapel or Sankey Street Chapel as it was then known. The son of a dissenting Minister born in Hereford and educated at Caleb Rotherham's Academy in Kendal, he campaigned and fundraised tirelessly for the establishment in 1757 of The Warrington Academy.
He was a lecturer at the Academy, its Secretary and Minister of the Chapel. Active in many spheres of dissenting and town life, John Seddon was the first President of The Warrington Public Library.

The grade I listed Grand Pump Room is on the right with the white limestone of the Abbey at the end of the square. It would be nice to think of it as originating from roman days although this is not actually the case. The city of Aquae Sulis (Latin name, 'the waters of Sulis') was first established as a spa resort exploiting hot springs by the Romans in AD 43. Its history probably goes back even further.

Thomas Baldwin and later John Palmer were involved in its construction from 1789 onwards. Work continued until its final opening in 1799. Some Corinthian style half columns were added with a nice upper floor later. These open onto Stall street and you can now take tea on the first floor and watch people come and go in the square.
The pump room is now a grand restaurant with nice chandeliers and a piano. It looks to be a great spot for a luxurious quintessential English treat, tea, cakes or champers (just don\u2019t forget your wallet!).

It makes a refreshing change to visit a real butcher, rather than the pre-packaged and shrink wrapped conveyor belt plastic meat from the supermarket, although in In English, the name Lyulph is a variant of Lyulf: A compound of the Old English words for flame and wolf.
He was named after Arthur Lyulph Stanley who was a relative of his father and Liberal elected MP for the mainly rural parliamentary constituancy of Eddisbury. Arthur awarded KCMG (14 September 1875 \u2013 22 August 1931), also 5th Baron Stanley of Alderley and 4th Baron Eddisbury, was an English nobleman and Governor of Victoria from 1914 to 1920. Thus a suitable role model to name your child after I guess. The name Lyulph has origins in Scandinavia.
The butcher shop in Cuddington has a long history and in the 1930's there was a fatality when a butcher's boy, Les Watson (brother of Joan Underwood) was involved in a collision with a mail van while riding his delivery bicycle on Swan Hill.

baptised 7 March 1671 died 28 December 1734) was a Scottish outlaw, who later became a folk hero. The name Roy comes from Gaelic Ruadh meaning Red, and referred to his red hair. Rob Roy was born at Glengyle, at the head of Loch Katrine, as recorded in the baptismal register of Buchanan, Stirling. His parents were Donald Glas MacGregor and Margaret Campbell. He was also descended from the Macdonalds of Keppoch through his paternal grandmother. In January 1693, at Corrie Arklet farm near Inversnaid, he married Mary Helen MacGregor of Comar (1671-1745), who was born at Leny Farm, Strathyre. The couple had four sons: James, Ranald, Coll and Robert (known as Robin Oig or Young Rob). They also adopted a cousin named Duncan.

Description: Tony Smith image Flickr 4334926783 - 'Quite an unassuming place Warrington Museum, Cheshire seems, when looked at while being dragged around at high speed by a young child.
The museum is one of the oldest municipal museums in the UK and reflects something of the important local Victorians around at the time (1848), their interests and travels. It is a grade II listed building and houses fossils, Egyptian artefacts as well as relics of the old Warrington industries such as steel (particularly wire), clocks, textiles, brewing, tanning and chemicals are on display.
Since designation as new town, it is hard to see the old history beyond the shopping sites and new roads and buildings.
It can be regarded as a dormitory town for manchester or Liverpool and to wait on central station for the 08:13 sort of confirms that stereotype, particularly the stand in the corridor until Birchwood. Slightly shamefully hat was how I came to live in Warrington many years ago.
If you have time, spend a quarter of an hour in this little municipal jewel box. Slide out some fossil draws and check out how it used to be.

Very cold, about -5 (not common in NW Britain) but very bright and a day with a great clear blue sky, adding to the sense of chill.
This position is just along from the Orchard Boatyard and when not iced, this section is fully navigable.

The first recorded match involving a team called Grappenhall took place on the 4th of September 1878 when Wycliffe Sunday School beat Grappenhall at Grappenhall by 49 runs to 21.
The match was not played on the Broad Lane ground which only opened 1892 . Earlier matches were played in Bellhouse Lane and then in Cross Lane. When the Cross Lane ground had to be closed to make way for the Manchester Ship Canal, the turf was bought to Broad Lane.
The first match was at St Elphins on 21st May and it ended in defeat. The following week saw a drawn match against Camden Victoria the scores being Grappenhall 54 all out, Camden Victoria 17-1. Presumably rain interfered at that point although The Guardian does not say so. the return on June 4th was won with Grappenhall replying to Camden 38 all out with a score 62 for 4
1970 to 1990s was one of the most consistent and successful in the clubs existence, winning numerous League and Cup competitions at all levels. Grappenhall was widely recognised as having the best one-day (knockout) team in the county,

Usually containing only strong tobacco, the traditional waterpipe has many names in the near east: Hukkah, shisha, nargeeleh, nargile, nargilen or argeelah.
The pipe appears to have originated in India. Initially in the court of the Mughal emperor Akbar (around 1542 ). Following the European introduction of tobacco to India, Hakim Abul Fateh Gilani a descendant of Abdul Qadir Al-Gilani came from Baghdad to India who was later a physician in the court of Mughal raised concerns after smoking tobacco became popular among Indian noblemen, and subsequently envisaged a system which allowed smoke to be passed through water in order to be 'purified'.
This new pipe for smoking soon became a status symbol for the Indian aristocracy and gentry. These days the Hookah west of Cyprus and east of Thailand is ubiquitous.

The total external length of the building, including the Lady Chapel, is 189 metres (620 ft) making it the second longest cathedral in the world

In terms of overall volume, Liverpool Cathedral ranks as the fifth-largest cathedral in the world and contests the title of largest Anglican church building alongside the incomplete Cathedral of Saint John the Divine in New York City. With a height of 100.8 metres (331 ft) it is also one of the world's tallest non-spired church buildings and the third-tallest structure in the city of Liverpool. The cathedral has been designated by English Heritage as a Grade I listed building.
The Anglican cathedral is one of two in the city. The other, the Roman Catholic Metropolitan Cathedral of Liverpool, is situated approximately half a mile to the north.
