Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 3DM97W8 - A bold, documentary street-level image of a colourful mural painted onto a brick arch in Stockport, paired with a highly visible wall-mounted public defibrillator (AED). The artwork features the Stockport Troll cartoon figure focused on a mobile phone, with exaggerated facial features and bright, graphic colours that read instantly as modern street art from artist Hammo. Behind the character, the mural includes a playful landscape backdrop with clouds, trees and geometric shapes, creating a lively contrast to the functional street setting of pavement, curb edge and a black bollard in the foreground.
On the left of the frame, the yellow defibrillator cabinet is fixed to the wall and clearly stands out against the painted bricks, anchoring the image in themes of public health and community safety. The juxtaposition is the story: everyday digital attention and public lifesaving readiness sharing the same small piece of public realm. A stickered vertical pole and the rough texture of the brick arch add authentic urban detail, suggesting a typical town-centre walking route or underpass where people pass close by.
This image is useful for editorial coverage of public access defibrillator programmes, first-aid awareness, emergency preparedness and community resilience, as well as broader storytelling about how cities blend functional infrastructure with culture-led public art. It also works as a contemporary Stockport identity image, combining local street creativity with visible civic safety equipment, and offers a strong visual metaphor for modern life in UK towns.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2RX17PT - A car wash, or auto wash is a facility used to clean the exterior, and in some cases the interior, of cars. Car washes can be self-service, full-service (with attendants who wash the vehicle), or fully automated (possibly connected to a filling station). Car washes may also be events where people pay to have their cars washed by volunteers, often using less specialized equipment, as a fundraiser
By the mid-1960s, Hanna Enterprises established itself as the main manufacturer of car washing equipment and materials. This includes the Wrap-Around Brush, Roller-on-demand Conveyor belt, soft cloth friction washing, several ways to wash the tires, and a recirculating water system.
The 1970s introduced the automatic wheel cleaner and the polish'n'wax
Conveyor-driven/tunnel car wash
The first conveyor-driven automatic car wash appeared in Hollywood, California in 1940. Conveyor-driven automatic car washes consist of tunnel-like buildings into which customers (or attendants) drive
A vehicle exiting the friction zone of the wash. Visible are side brushes, wrap-around brushes, the conveyor, and a high-pressure rinse arch.
The car wash will typically start cleaning with chemicals called presoaks applied through special arches. CTAs, or chemical tire applicators, apply specialized formulations, which remove brake dust and build-up from the surface of the wheels and tires.
At the end of a car wash's presoak a high-pressure arch may be used to direct water at the vehicle's surface.
The car is rinsed with fresh water immediately followed by a series of extra services if required. In many car washes, the first of these services is a polish wax. After the polish wax application is typically a retractable mitter or top brush and, in some cases, side brushes or wrap-around brushes. Next is a protectant, which creates a thin protective film over a vehicle's surface

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2R64NM1 - This image shows the brightly illuminated exterior signage of a Complete Entertainment Exchange (CeX) store in Warrington town centre, photographed at night. The bold red lighting and distinctive CeX logo stand out against the darker street environment, drawing attention to the shopfront after trading hours.
CeX is a well-known UK retail chain specialising in the buying, selling, and exchange of second-hand video games, consoles, mobile phones, DVDs, and consumer electronics. Founded in London in the early 1990s, the brand has become a familiar feature of British high streets, particularly in town and city centres.
The night-time setting emphasises the role of illuminated retail signage in maintaining visibility and brand presence beyond normal shopping hours. Such imagery is often associated with discussions around the changing high street, evening economies, and the continued prominence of national chains in urban retail landscapes.
Photographed from a low, angled perspective, the image highlights colour, typography, and lighting rather than street activity, making it well suited for editorial use covering UK retail culture, second-hand markets, branding, high street identity, and the visual character of town centres after dark.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2R3WMP8 - This image shows the Royal Mail Customer Service Point and delivery office in Walthamstow, located on Forest Road in the London Borough of Waltham Forest, East London. The utilitarian mid-20th-century building combines red brick and concrete cladding, with clearly visible Royal Mail branding above the public entrance and a red-framed customer service area at street level.
Prominently mounted on the roof is a cluster of telecommunications masts and antennas, used by mobile phone and radio networks, highlighting how essential public buildings are often repurposed to support modern digital communications infrastructure. The juxtaposition of traditional postal services with contemporary telecoms equipment reflects the evolving nature of national infrastructure in the UK, where legacy institutions coexist with mobile and data networks.
The scene is photographed in daylight under a bright blue sky with scattered cloud, lending clarity to the architectural details and rooftop installations. A member of the public can be seen entering or leaving the service point, reinforcing the everyday, functional role of the building in handling mail, parcels, and customer collections.
Images like this are well suited to editorial use covering themes of public services, logistics, communications networks, urban infrastructure, digital transformation, and the continuing role of Royal Mail as a key national institution in England.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2R3YB9E - This image shows the Mr Bombay street food van operating at Old Spitalfields Market in East London. The bright red catering vehicle is fitted with an open service hatch, menu boards, and bold branding advertising Indian street food to passing shoppers and office workers.
Street food vans like Mr Bombay form an important part of London's contemporary food culture, offering quick, affordable meals inspired by global cuisines. Indian street food has become particularly popular, drawing on flavours and dishes associated with Mumbai and other cities, adapted for the UK market environment.
The scene is photographed in daylight within the covered market area, with customers and market activity visible in the background. The contrast between the vintage-style van design and the modern glass-and-steel market surroundings reflects the blend of tradition and contemporary urban life that characterises Spitalfields.
This image is well suited to editorial use covering London street food, market culture, independent food businesses, urban dining, multicultural cuisine, and everyday life in one of the capital's best-known markets.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2RA23AK - This image shows a tall steel lattice telecommunications tower supporting multiple antennas and microwave dishes, commonly used as part of the UK's mobile phone and wireless communications network. The self-supporting lattice structure allows for significant height and load-bearing capacity, making it suitable for hosting equipment from multiple operators and technologies.
Panel antennas mounted at various levels are used to provide mobile phone coverage, typically supporting a combination of 2G, 3G, 4G, and increasingly 5G services. The presence of circular microwave dish antennas indicates point-to-point radio links, which are used to transmit large volumes of data between sites, particularly in rural or semi-rural locations where fibre-optic connections may be limited or used as backup resilience.
Lattice masts of this type are a common feature of national telecommunications infrastructure and are often upgraded repeatedly over time as mobile technology evolves. Their open steel framework design offers durability, ease of maintenance, and flexibility for adding new equipment as network demand increases.
Photographed from ground level against a partly cloudy blue sky, the image emphasises the height, complexity, and industrial character of modern communications infrastructure. It is well suited for editorial use illustrating mobile network expansion, digital connectivity, telecommunications engineering, rural broadband provision, and the physical structures that underpin everyday wireless communication in the UK.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2JNHKC8 - The Jaguar XK140 is a sports car manufactured by Jaguar between 1954 and 1957 as the successor to the XK120. Upgrades included more interior space, improved brakes, rack and pinion steering, increased suspension travel, and telescopic shock absorbers instead of the older lever arm design
The XK140 was introduced in late 1954 and sold as a 1955 model. Exterior changes that distinguished it from the XK120 included more substantial front and rear bumpers with overriders, and flashing turn signals (operated by a switch on the dash) above the front bumper.
Boot emblem
The grille remained the same size but became a one-piece cast unit with fewer, and broader, vertical bars. The Jaguar badge was incorporated into the grille surround. A chrome trim strip ran along the centre of the bonnet (hood) and boot (trunk) lid. An emblem on the boot lid contained the words Winner Le Mans 1951?3.
The interior was made more comfortable for taller drivers by moving the engine, firewall and dash forward to give 3 inches (76 mm) more legroom. Two 6-volt batteries, one in each front wing were fitted to the Fixed Head Coupe, but Drop Heads and the Open Two Seater had a single 12-volt battery installed in the front wing on the passenger side.
The XK140 was powered by the William Heynes designed 3.4 litre Jaguar XK double overhead camshaft inline-6 engine, with the Special Equipment modifications from the XK120, which raised the specified power by 10 bhp to 190 bhp (142 kW) gross at 5500 rpm, as standard. The optional C-Type cylinder head carried over from the XK120 catalogue, and produced 210 bhp (157 kW) gross at 5750 rpm.
When fitted with the C-type head, 2-inch sand-cast H8 carburettors, heavier torsion bars and twin exhaust pipes, the car was designated XK140 SE in the UK and XK140 MC in North America.
In 1956 the XK140 became the first Jaguar sports car to be offered with automatic transmission. As with the XK120, wire wheels and dual exhausts were options, with most XK140s impo

How was the NHS Covid-19 app planned to work?
Contact tracing apps aim to automate the human process by using the phone in your pocket. More than 30 countries are building tracing apps and the UK is no different. Its tracing software ? the NHS Covid-19 app ? has been trialled on the Isle of Wight since May 7. The island was picked as a testbed before wider rollout across the UK and more than 50,000 people on the island have downloaded the app.
It's highly unlikely the Covid-19 virus is going to go away, Jonathan Van-Tam, England's deputy chief medical officer, said as details of the app were revealed at the start of May. Testing and contact tracing is going to have to become part of our daily lives in the future.
Matthew Gould, the CEO for NHSX, the technology arm of the NHS, says the logic for creating the app is clear: it can potentially allow cases to be identified earlier and reduce the spread of the coronavirus.
The app works using Bluetooth signals. Bluetooth technology within phones, which has to be turned on at all times, broadcasts an identifier that is unique to that device. The identifier is essentially a random string of numbers that updates on a regular basis and doesn't include any personal information. When your phone is near another Bluetooth device the two will exchange their identifiers. A list of all the devices, in the form of their unique codes, are stored on your phone for 28 days. Nothing else happens unless a user indicates that they are experiencing coronavirus symptoms.
There is very limited functionality within the app. The only thing that users can do is report if they have Covid-19 symptoms. Within the app there is one central question: how are you feeling today?

How was the NHS Covid-19 app planned to work?
Contact tracing apps aim to automate the human process by using the phone in your pocket. More than 30 countries are building tracing apps and the UK is no different. Its tracing software ? the NHS Covid-19 app ? has been trialled on the Isle of Wight since May 7. The island was picked as a testbed before wider rollout across the UK and more than 50,000 people on the island have downloaded the app.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2AFK6AP - A food truck is a large motorized vehicle (such as a van) or trailer, equipped to cook, prepare, serve, and/or sell food.[1][2] Some, including ice cream trucks, sell frozen or prepackaged food
others have on-board kitchens and prepare food from scratch, or they heat up food that was prepared in a bricks and mortar commercial kitchen. Sandwiches, hamburgers, french fries, and other regional fast food fare is common. In recent years, associated with the pop-up restaurant phenomenon, food trucks offering gourmet cuisine and a variety of specialties and ethnic menus have become particularly popular.[3] Food trucks may also sell cold beverages such as soda pop and water. Food trucks, along with portable food booths and food carts, are on the front line of the street food industry that serves an estimated 2.5 billion people every day

Well you could tape yourself up to one of the poster cylinders?
The funny folks of Durham Improvised Comedy Society, Shellshock! describe it as follows:
'Join the (dis)Order of Improvised Comedy in their quest to wondrous realms of hilarity. Interactive and dynamic, this family-friendly show brings a new medieval fantasy to life on a (k)nightly basis! The goodly knights and damsels in our audience are invited to shout out scene suggestions, which our bold, brave, and dashingly witty improvisers enact entirely off the cuff. Choose where our characters are, what adventurous task they must fulfil, or maybe roll a die to determine their fate. So make haste, good sir, fair dame, and brave squireling, for the quest is in your hands!'

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy PC9XYG - The Singer Gazelle name has been applied to two generations of motor cars from the British manufacturer Singer. It was positioned between the basic Hillman range and the more sporting Sunbeam versions
The Gazelle was the first Singer to be produced following the take-over of the Singer company by the Rootes Group in 1956 and was a version of the mainstream Hillman Minx differing mainly in retaining the Singer overhead cam engine. Externally the only significant difference was a restyled nose based around a traditional Singer grille. The new car was announced in late September 1956.
The body style followed by the Gazelle between 1956 and 1967 came to be known as the Audax body, with significant input from the US based Loewy design organisation, highly regarded at the time partly on account of Loewy's input to several iconic Studebaker designs.
The Gazelle was initially offered in saloon and convertible body styles. The Gazelle Series II, offered from autumn 1957, was also available as an estate car, and had optional overdrive and larger fuel tank.
The suspension was independent at the front using coil springs while at the rear was a live axle and half elliptic leaf springs. The steering gear used a worm and nut system.
As standard, the car had a bench front seat but individual seats were available as an option. To allow for the bench seat, the handbrake lever was between the seat and the door.
The convertible version had a two position hood where it could be either completely lowered or rolled back to just behind the front seats described as the coup?? de ville position. All side windows could be completely lowered. To compensate for the loss of body rigidity by the removal of the roof, extra cross bracing was fitted under the car.
A car with overdrive was tested by the British magazine The Motor in 1957. It had a top speed of 78.0 mph (125.5 km/h) and could accelerate from 0-60 mph (97 km/h) in 24.8 seconds. A fuel consumption of 33.5 miles per gallon.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy F7YMHG - Manchester United Football Club is a professional football club based in Old Trafford, Greater Manchester, England, that currently competes in the Premier League, the top flight of English football. Founded as Newton Heath LYR Football Club in 1878, the club changed its name to Manchester United in 1902 and moved to Old Trafford in 1910.
Manchester United have won 20 league titles, the most of any English club, 11 FA Cups, four League Cups and a record 20 FA Community Shields. The club has also won three European Cups, one UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, one UEFA Super Cup, one Intercontinental Cup and one FIFA Club World Cup. In 1998?99, the club became the first in the history of English football to achieve the treble of the Premier League, the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League.
The 1958 Munich air disaster claimed the lives of eight players. In 1968, under the management of Matt Busby, Manchester United became the first English football club to win the European Cup. Alex Ferguson won 38 trophies, including 13 Premier League titles, 5 FA Cups and 2 UEFA Champions Leagues, between 1986 and 2013, when he announced his retirement. Description: Tony Smith image Alamy ED8PR7 - On tapping or scanning their smartphone over the QR code or NFC tag to the right of the poster, a unique url will open in their phone's browser. If the campaign is mobile-platform enabled, this will lead straight to the advertiser's website or content
if not, they will be taken to a standard Clear Channel landing page. On a scroller or digital panel (where multiple advertisers are involved), on scanning or tapping, the consumer will be presented with a list of advertisers whose campaigns are mobile platform enabled for them to select from.
Near field communication (NFC) is a set of ideas and technologies that enable smartphones and other devices to establish radio communication with each other by touching them together or bringing them into proximity, typically a distance of 10 cm (3.9 in) or less. Each full NFC device can work in 3 modes: NFC target (acting like a credential), NFC initiator (as a reader) and NFC peer to peer. Most of the first business models like advertisement tags or other industrial applications have not been successful, always overtaken by another technology (3D barcodes, UHF tags, ...)
The main advantage of NFC is that NFC devices are often cloud connected. Connected credentials can be provisioned over the air unlike a standard card (Hotel or visitor applications). All connected NFC enabled smartphones can be provisioned with dedicated apps, which gives any application hundreds of millions of potential dedicated readers in opposition of the traditional dedicated infrastructure of ticket, access control or payment readers. All NFC peers can connect a third party NFC device with a server for any action or reconfiguration.

Cricket in Australia holds 87 as a superstitiously unlucky score and is referred to as 'the devil's number.' 87 is 13 runs short of a century, but there is a more interesting story. The origin of the superstition stretches back 85 years to December 1929, when a 10-year-old Keith Miller was watching Australia’s greatest cricketer in a Sheffield Shield match at the MCG.
Don Bradman was putting on a batting master class for NSW against hosts Victoria, when out of nowhere the Don was bowled neck and crop by Harry ‘Bull’ Alexander on 87. Miller was stunned. How could this happen to his hero? The number became a fixation for Miller, who would rifle through newspapers for club cricket scorecards in search for the unlucky figure.
The shock of Bradman’s untimely demise stayed with Miller. The legend spread when Miller was playing district cricket for South Melbourne alongside future Test captain Ian Johnson. Johnson was dismissed on 87, providing Miller the opportunity to recount the famous incident and offer his unholy theory.
The myth began circling the cricket community and became folklore after World War II when Richie Benaud and Alan Davidson heard of it.
However, as the hype around the superstition reached its highest point, Miller decided to review the scorebook of the match only to find a shocking revelation.
Bradman was actually bowled for 89. Miller blamed the slow MCG scorecard for the error, but the damage had been done, 87 would remain forever as the Devil’s number.

87 is the sum of the squares of the first four primes. It is also the sum of the sum of divisors of the first ten integers.
Its the atomic number of francium and in the world of model railways, the ratio of the popular H0 scale is 1:87.

British Rail Class 87 is a type of electric locomotive built from 1973–75 by British Rail Engineering Limited (BREL). 36 of these locomotives were built to work passenger services over the West Coast Main Line (WCML). They were the flagships of British Rail's electric locomotive fleet until the late 1980s. Most have now been exported to Bulgaria.

Sixty-four is the number of sexual positions in the Kama Sutra, the square of 8, the cube of 4, and the sixth power of 2. It is the smallest number with exactly seven divisors. It is the lowest positive power of two that is adjacent to neither a Mersenne prime nor a Fermat prime. 64 is the sum of Euler's totient function for the first fourteen integers. It is also a dodecagonal number and a centered triangular number. 64 is also the first whole number that is both a perfect square and a perfect cube.

Despite being related to the word 'four' (4), 40 is spelled 'forty', and not 'fourty'. The reason is that etymologically (also in accents without the horse–hoarse merger), the words have different vowels, 'forty' containing a contraction in the same way that 'fifty' contains a contraction of 'five'. This makes it the only number which, when spelled out in full, has its letters in alphabetical order.
Forty is an octagonal number, and as the sum of the first four pentagonal numbers, it is a pentagonal pyramidal number. Adding up some subsets of its divisors (e.g., 1, 4, 5, 10 and 20) gives 40, hence 40 is a semiperfect number.

Larsen was attempting to create a formula to prevent corrosion in nuclear missiles, by displacing the standing water that causes it. He claims he arrived at a successful formula on his 40th attempt. WD-40 is primarily composed of various hydrocarbons.

Sixteen is the fourth power of two. For this reason, 16 was used in weighing light objects in several cultures.
The British have 16 ounces in one pound
the Chinese used to have 16 liangs in one jin. In old days, weighing was done with a beam balance to make equal splits. It would be easier to split a heap of grains into sixteen equal parts through successive divisions than to split into ten parts.
Chinese Taoists did finger computation on the trigrams and hexagrams by counting the finger tips and joints of the fingers with the tip of the thumb. Each hand can count up to 16 in such manner.
The Chinese abacus uses two upper beads to represent the 5s and 5 lower beads to represent the 1s, the 7 beads can represent from a hexadecimal digit from 0 to 15 in each column.
Sixteen is the minimum age to get married with parental consent in many countries and without parental consent in Scotland. Its the legal drinking age in Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, the Netherlands and Portugal. Many bank card numbers are 16 digits long.

Myles MacInnes (born 10 May 1978, Broadford, Isle of Skye, Scotland), is better known by the stage name Mylo, is a Scottish electronic musician and record producer.
He has provided remixes for Scissor Sisters ('Mary'), Amy Winehouse ('Fuck Me Pumps'), The Knife ('You Take My Breath Away') and The Killers ('Somebody Told Me'). One of his works was a 2004 remix of Kylie Minogue's no 2 UK hit, 'I Believe in You', which appeared on the single that peaked at no 3 on the U.S. Hot Dance Club Play chart. His biggest chart success to date came in the autumn of 2005. This was when the single 'Doctor Pressure', a mash-up of his own song 'Drop The Pressure' and Miami Sound Machine's 'Dr. Beat', peaked at no 3 on the UK Singles Chart. The single performed well in the U.S., especially on the Hot Dance Airplay and Hot Dance Club Play charts, where it jointly made the Top 10.
'Muscle Car', the follow-up single to 'Doctor Pressure', was a hit in the UK and European dance charts, reaching no 1 on the UK Club Chart in November 2005, and no 38 in the UK Singles Chart. The video that accompanied the single courted controversy as it featured two supposed Chinese spies - actually played by British actors Bruce Wang and Alex Liang - inventing an electronic fly to spy on the American president, George W. Bush. Mylo did not appear in the video.

Ultravox! is the first studio album from the band Ultravox, which at the time was properly eponymous before the band dropped the Neu!-inspired exclamation mark from their name. It contained this track and was released on Island Records February 1977. It was recorded at Island Studios in Hammersmith in the autumn of 1976 and produced by the band and Steve Lillywhite, with studio assistance from the great Brian Eno.
This band was effectively led by two different individuals in its career, two frontmen who, curiously, never played together in the band at the same time. From 1974 until 1979, the frontman and main driving force behind Ultravox was John Foxx who left the band to embark on an influential solo career that continues to this day. Some time following Foxx's departure, with the three remaining members in a hiatus, Midge Ure took over as lead singer, guitarist, and frontman.
I am a great fan of the first incarnation, before the mid 1980s New Romantic makeover. Tracks like this, 'The Wild, The Beautiful and the Damned' and 'Sat'day Night in the City of the Dead' were championed by the late great John Peel, on his 10pm BBC radio 1 show.

A car for a lady? This is a track that brings back brilliant memories for me.
According to the Guinness Book of British Hit Singles &
Albums, the band was named after a phrase from the Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood song, 'Jackson', misheard by frontman Paddy McAloon. The correct opening lyrics for 'Jackson' are 'We got married in a fever, hotter than a pepper sprout' which McAloon misinterpreted as 'hotter than a prefab sprout'. The rest is history.
This track is from the excellent 'From Langley Park to Memphis' album. It was the first single and only actually reached 44 in the UK charts, although spent a month or so there.
The song is a response to Bruce Springsteen's perceived lyrical style and alleged narrow song repertoire. Pat McAloon suggests that Springsteen's worldview is too restricted and that 'some things hurt more, much more, than cars and girls'. Ironically, the song's popularity is partly due to it being misinterpreted as a 'driving song', leading it to appear on compilation albums such as Summer Cruisin' and Top Gear.
Checkout 'Langley Park' for some of the greatest tracks from the band.

It has a starting price of €10,500 (similar to how the original Fiat 500 was cheaper than the Volkswagen Beetle and Austin Mini). Fiat shares the underpinnings of the new 500 with Ford for the 2009 Ford Ka. They are made at the Fiat factory in Tychy, Poland.
The pink one is a limited edition so you had better move fast! This one can be found at Arnold Clark (ex Dane Vauxhall) in Northwich, Cheshire. To get yours girls (or chaps if you have the urge!), follow this link.

Bentley Motors Limited is a British manufacturer of automobiles founded on my birthday, 18th January 1919 by Walter Owen Bentley (known as W.O. Bentley or just 'W.O.').
Bentley had been previously known for his range of rotary aero-engines in World War I, the most famous being the Bentley BR1 as used in later versions of the Sopwith Camel. Since 1998, the company has been owned by the Volkswagen Group of Germany and is located in Crewe, south Cheshire.
Before World War I, W.O. Bentley had been in partnership with his brother H.M. Bentley selling French DFP cars, but he had always wanted to design and build his own range of cars bearing his name. In August 1919, Bentley Motors Ltd. was registered, and a chassis with dummy engine was exhibited at the London Motor Show in October of that year.
It was on a visit to the DFP factory in 1913 that W.O. noticed an aluminium paperweight, and had the inspired idea of using the lightweight metal instead of cast iron to make engine pistons. The first Bentley aluminium pistons went into service in aero engines for the Sopwith Camel during the Great War.
A group of wealthy British motorists known as the 'Bentley Boys' (Woolf Barnato, Sir Henry Birkin, steeplechaser George Duller, aviator Glen Kidston, automotive journalist S.C.H. 'Sammy' Davis, and Dr. Dudley Benjafield among them) kept the marque's reputation for high performance alive. Thanks to the dedication to serious racing of this group, the company, located at Cricklewood, north London, was noted for its four consecutive victories at the 24 hours of Le Mans from 1927 to 1930. Their greatest competitor at the time, Bugatti—whose lightweight, elegant, but fragile creations contrasted with the Bentley's rugged reliability and durability—referred to them as 'the world's fastest lorries'.
The one pictured here looks like a 1929 model, possibly 3-6 litre engine.

Description: Tony Smith image Flickr 4671529158 - 'These seem to be absolutely ubiquitous and after being a sceptic myself, now I have had one for a few weeks know why. The tie in to itunes and the appstore is a killer idea. You would have thought that Microsoft would have worked that out after the rise of the ipod and the concept of buying music by that channel.
Now, Windows mobile 7 is planned to cover the sames bases with the addition of a 'Bing' button (WTF?), but two years too late. While Apple look like your creative younger art school sister, Microsoft might be your older richer fuddy duddy sibling, set in his old ways.
The iPhone was originally released in 2007. An iPhone functions as a rather useful camera phone with the usual texting etc. It has its own portable media player, Safari a great pinch and stretch browser with Wi-Fi connectivity etc.
There are well over 200,000 apps each of which must approved by Apple. Presumably Apple take a few pennies from all those downloads. They tend to be the funky consumer apps, not really ones for business however. I am still looking for one that will allow me to find where there is not a Tesco store.
Some of the apps I have been playing with on mine include Lomo (a toy camera app), Autostitch (panorama software), Shazam (for identifying that obscure music track) and Met Office (to see when the rain will be arriving).
More iPhones than Blackberry's seem to be flying off the shelves with approching 40 million sold across the world. Also, these covers which are necessary to protect your iPhone. Of course you can get the gold and diamond covers, but beware, all that glitters may not be gold(!)

Description: Tony Smith image Flickr 4565205208 - 'Jaguar was founded as the Swallow Sidecar Company by Sir William Lyons in 1922, originally making motorcycle sidecars before switching to passenger cars. The name was changed to Jaguar after World War II due to the unfavourable connotations of the SS initials. It was aquired by Ford in 1989 and is now part of the indian Tata steel and manufacturing group.
Jaguar cars are designed in Jaguar Land Rover's engineering centres at the Whitley plant in Coventry and at Gaydon in Warwickshire, and are manufactured in two of Jaguar Land Rover's plants
Castle Bromwich assembly plant in Birmingham and at the old Ford Halewood Body &
Assembly near Liverpool.
Two of the proudest moments in Jaguar's long history in motor sport involved winning the Le Mans 24 hours race, firstly in 1956 and again in 1957, in the hands of the little known Scottish racing team called Ecurie Ecosse whose name later went down in legendary status for twice pulling off a David v Goliath effort in the famed car killing race.
The Jaguar XF is marketted a mid-size executive car that was introduced in 2008 to replace the out-going S-Type in the company's line-up. In January 2008, the XF was awarded the What Car? 'Car of the Year' and 'Executive Car of the Year' awards. The XF was also awarded Car of the Year 2008 from What Diesel? magazine.

It is the main link between North wales, M6 motorway (the first in Britain), Manchester City, Airport and the M60/M62 route east. It took thirteen years from first proposal in 1958 to starting the Manchester end of the motorway, then a further ten years for all junctions to Chester to be completed.
It has recently been populated with traffic information signs displaying occasionally useful information and 'fillers' such as 'Don't Hog The Middle Lane', 'Dont Drink And Drive', 'Say No To Drugs' and other subliminal messages. It is always unerving to see a yellow sign up ahead as the density of chemical plants between Lymm and Chester (Stanlow etc) makes it quite likely for chemical spillages etc on this section.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy CEYA67 - Blue Plymouth American Classic PUD 103F car (Automobile)
Plymouth was a marque of automobiles based in the United States, produced by the Chrysler Corporation and its successor DaimlerChrysler. Production was discontinued on June 29, 2001 in the United States.
For much of its life, Plymouth was one of the top-selling American automobile brands
it together with Chevrolet and Ford were commonly referred to as the low-priced three marques in the American market. Plymouth almost surpassed Ford in 1940 and 1941 as the second most popular make of automobiles in the U.S. Through 1956, Plymouth vehicles were known for their durability, affordability, and engineering.
In 1957, Virgil Exner's new Forward Look design theme, advertised by Plymouth with the tagline Suddenly, it's 1960, produced cars with much more advanced styling than Chevrolet or Ford. 1957 total production soared to 726,009, about 200,000 more than 1956, and the largest output yet for Plymouth. However, the 1957?1958 Forward Look models suffered from poor materials, spotty build quality and inadequate corrosion protection
they were rust-prone and greatly damaged Chrysler's reputation.
In 1954 Chrysler started its decade long unsuccessful attempt to develop and market a viable car powered by turbine engine when it installed an experimental turbine they had developed specifically for vehicles in a Plymouth.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2AGMWGJ - An internal combustion engine (ICE) is a heat engine in which the combustion of a fuel occurs with an oxidizer (usually air) in a combustion chamber that is an integral part of the working fluid flow circuit. In an internal combustion engine, the expansion of the high-temperature and high-pressure gases produced by combustion applies direct force to some component of the engine. The force is applied typically to pistons, turbine blades, rotor or a nozzle. This force moves the component over a distance, transforming chemical energy into useful mechanical energy.
The first commercially successful internal combustion engine was created by ??tienne Lenoir around 1859[1] and the first modern internal combustion engine was created in 1876 by Nikolaus Otto (see Otto engine).
The term internal combustion engine usually refers to an engine in which combustion is intermittent, such as the more familiar four-stroke and two-stroke piston engines, along with variants, such as the six-stroke piston engine and the Wankel rotary engine. A second class of internal combustion engines use continuous combustion: gas turbines, jet engines and most rocket engines, each of which are internal combustion engines on the same principle as previously described. Firearms are also a form of internal combustion engine.
In contrast, in external combustion engines, such as steam or Stirling engines, energy is delivered to a working fluid not consisting of, mixed with, or contaminated by combustion products. Working fluids can be air, hot water, pressurized water or even liquid sodium, heated in a boiler. ICEs are usually powered by energy-dense fuels such as gasoline or diesel fuel, liquids derived from fossil fuels. While there are many stationary applications, most ICEs are used in mobile applications and are the dominant power supply for vehicles such as cars, aircraft, and boats.
Typically an ICE is fed with fossil fuels like natural gas or petroleum.

Speed Indicator Device (SID) deployment
An informal speed management device operated by volunteers and initiated by an identified community group.
Community Speed Watch
An informal speed management process involving the use of speed guns at the roadside. Volunteers are trained and supported by either the Police, PCSOs or Safety Wardens. Vehicle details of those exceeding the relevant speed limit are recorded with drivers receiving warning letters.
The following options will not normally be carried out unless steps two and three have been carried out by community groups. Options four and five are subject to agreement with Cheshire Police.
Mobile Enforcement
The deployment of mobile speed enforcement cameras
speeding drivers will face prosecution.
Driver Engagement Day
Co-ordinated by the Fire and Rescue Service with Cheshire Police and council staff. Stopped drivers are given an option to participate in education or receive a Fixed Penalty Notice.

Louis van Gaal is the club's current manager after Ferguson's successor David Moyes was sacked after only 10 months in charge.

Its principal services are roadside assistance and general insurance, and its subsidiaries include RAC Motoring Services Ltd, RAC Financial Services Ltd and RAC Insurance Limited.
The RAC emerged as the Associate Section of the Royal Automobile Club founded at the turn of the 20th century, and it was incorporated as R.A.C. Motoring Services Ltd. in 1978. It was sold by the members of the Royal Automobile Club to Lex Service in April 1999, which subsequently renamed itself RAC plc. In March 2005, RAC plc was acquired by Aviva and therefore delisted.
Aviva then sold the RAC to the Carlyle Group in June 2011. Although Carlyle had originally planned a stock market flotation for the RAC, in September 2014, Carlyle agreed to sell almost half its stake to Singapore's sovereign wealth fund GIC Private Limited. In December 2015, Carlyle agreed to sell its remaining stake to CVC Capital Partners in a transaction valuing the RAC at ?œ1.4 billion

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy RK9X6P - The Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow is a full-sized luxury car produced by British automaker Rolls-Royce in various forms from 1965 to 1980. It was the first of the marque to use unitary body and chassis construction.
The Silver Shadow was produced from 1965 to 1976, and the Silver Shadow II from 1977 to 1980. To date, the combined model run of 30,057 units manufactured is the largest production volume of any Rolls-Royce model
A Bentley-badged version, the T-series, was produced from 1965 through 1980 in 2,336 examples.
The Silver Shadow was originally intended to be called Rolls-Royce Silver Mist, but was replaced with Silver Shadow at the last minute due to Mist meaning manure or crap in German. It was designed with several modernisations in response to concerns that the company was falling behind in automotive innovation, most notably in its unitary construction.
Other new features included disc brakes replacing drums, and independent rear suspension instead of the outdated live rear axle design of previous Rolls-Royce models.
The standard wheelbase Silver Shadow measured 203.5 inches (5,170 mm), 4,700 lb (2,100 kg) and had a book price of ?œ6,557 in the first year of production.
The Shadow featured a 172 hp (128 kW) 6.2 L V8 from 1965 to 1969, and a 189 hp (141 kW) 6.75 L V8 from 1970 to 1980. Left-hand-drive models were coupled to the recently introduced Turbo-Hydramatic 400 automatic gearbox sourced from General Motors (GM). Pre-1970, right-hand-drive (RHD) models used a highly modified, aluminum-cased version of the original cast-iron 4-speed Hydra-Matic gearbox that had been built in Crewe under license from GM since 1953. From 1968, export RHD cars gained the Turbo-Hydramatic 400, and by 1970, the 4-speed unit had been completely phased out even in the home market

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy CEY9FD - Norton Canes services is a motorway service station on the M6 Toll, in the village of Norton Canes near the towns of Brownhills, Cannock, and Walsall, in Staffordshire, England. It is operated by RoadChef, who has a 25-year lease on the site. The company also uses the site as its head office
Norton Canes services is located on the M6 Toll between junctions T6 and T7, and is positioned so that it can be accessed before reaching the main toll plaza in either direction. It is a single-sided site, unlike a large majority of other service areas which have separate facilities for each direction. For this reason it is possible to do a U-turn at the services
however, it is not possible to avoid the toll in that way.
Unlike most other service areas, where it is illegal for traffic from local roads to use the back entrance to the site, provision has been made at Norton Canes for traffic from the A5 to access the services
