History
The tracks through the site were opened in 1992
however, the tram stop did not open until 31 March 2003. The bus part of the interchange opened on 29 January 2006. Construction had initially started on the bus station in 1998 and it was planned to have been completed and fully operational by 2000, but several disputes over the ownership of the site along with two public inquiries over the course of five years resulted in the construction work on the station being halted until 2003.

The Shudehill stop is in Zone 1, forming part of the Bury line. Trams run through Shudehill to Bury, Altrincham, Manchester Airport, Piccadilly and Victoria

It opened on 27 April 1992 as G-Mex tram stop, taking its name from the adjacent G-Mex Centre, a concert, conference and exhibition venue
the G-Mex Centre was rebranded as Manchester Central in 2007, prompting the Metrolink stop to be renamed on 20 September 2010.[1] The station underwent redevelopment in 2014?15 to add an extra platform in preparation for the completion of the Second City Crossing in 2016?17.
Deansgate-Castlefield serves as a transport hub by integrating with National Rail services from Deansgate railway station by a footbridge. Exits from the station lead to the Great Northern Warehouse, the reconstructed Mamucium Roman Fort, the Beetham Tower, and Deansgate Locks. Part of Zone 1, the stop is one of the most used on the Metrolink network.
In August 2010 Metrolink announced it would be changing the name of the stop from 'G-Mex' to 'Deansgate-Castlefield'. On 2 September 2010, signs at the stop were changed to 'Deansgate-Castlefield'
a couple of days later temporary vinyl GMEX stickers were placed on top which were removed on 20 September 2010 when the name change was made.

This was one of 16 TDD64's, known as the Dominion, which entered service in 1951 and were type TDD64/1, the only ones constructed. Fleet number is 1250 and carries registration number JVU 755. Crossley were relatively late coming into trolleybus manufacture. They had been the major supplier of motor buses to Manchester Corporation and it was only after Manchester announced their intention to convert some tram routes to trolleybus operation that Crossley took up trolleybus production from 1936. The first Manchester vehicles were delivered for the commencement of trolleybus operation in 1938.

There is a further reference to the church in a taxation document dated 1291. The present church dates from the end of the 15th century. A major restoration took place in 1854?55 by E. H. Shellard, during which the nave roof was raised
The church is built from local stone quarried from Tinsell-Norr in Perpendicular style. The plan consists of a west tower, a five-bay nave with a clerestory, north and south aisles, a two-bay chancel and a south porch. At the east end of each aisle is a chapel. The north chapel is known as the Hollingworth Chapel and the south chapel is the Staley Chapel. The tower is in four stages with angled buttresses, a three-light west window above which is a clock face and two-light belfry openings. In one corner is a stair turret. At the top is a castellated parapet with crocketed corner finials.
In the churchyard is a sundial with a dial dated 1811. It consists of a stone shaft with a copper dial and a gnomon. It is listed at Grade II. Also listed at Grade II are the gatepiers, railings, steps and walls of the churchyard. Near the church is a medieval cross which was restored in 1760 and again in 1897, the latter restoration being to celebrate the diamond jubilee of Queen Victoria. The octagonal shaft stands on a stepped circular ashlar plinth. On its top is a cubical sundial with three copper faces. It is listed at Grade II*

Situated to the north of the city centre on Hunts Bank, close to Manchester Cathedral, it adjoins Manchester Arena which was constructed on part of the former station site in the 1990s. Opened in 1844 and part of the Manchester station group, Victoria is Manchester's third busiest railway station after Piccadilly and Oxford Road and the second busiest station managed by Northern after Oxford Road.
The station hosts local and regional services to destinations in Northern England, such as Blackburn, Rochdale, Bradford, Leeds, Newcastle, Huddersfield, Halifax, Wigan, Southport, Blackpool (Sundays only) and Liverpool using the original Liverpool to Manchester line. Most trains calling at Victoria are operated by Northern. TransPennine Express services call at the station from Liverpool to Newcastle/Scarborough and services towards Manchester Airport (via the Ordsall Chord) from Middlesbrough/Redcar/Newcastle.
Manchester Victoria is a major interchange for the Metrolink light rail system. Two former railway lines into the station have been converted to tram operation: the line to Bury was converted in the early 1990s, in the first phase of Metrolink construction, and the line through Oldham to Rochdale was converted during 2009?2014. In the other direction, trams switch to on-street running when they emerge from Victoria Station and continue southwards through the city centre to Piccadilly or Deansgate-Castlefield.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2DFEYYW - LS Lowry Artist. He was born in Stretford, Manchester,and was educated at the Victoria Park School, but did poorly there. In 1904, he began to work for a firm of accountants. However, his only real interest, since he was a child, had been drawing
so, in the same year, he began to attend night classes at the Manchester Municipal College of Art. In 1910, he joined the Pall Mall Property Company as a rent collector, and remained with them until 1952, by which time he had risen to the post of chief cashier. The fact that he had a nine to five job was never revealed until after his death, as he had a horror of being thought of as an amateur painter. His paintings of industrial scenes achieved extraordinary popularity, to the extent that, in 1967, his painting Children Coming Out Of School (1927) was used by the Royal Mail on a postage stamp. Lowry died of pneumonia at Woods Hospital in Glossop. He never married and is thought never to have had any love affairs. He left his entire estate to a girl named Carol Ann Lowry, who had written him a fan letter because she was pleased to discover that she shared the same name as such a famous painter.

The southern viaduct in the group of three is the 1849 red brick viaduct of the Manchester, South Junction and Altrincham Railway with its cast iron arch bridge over the Rochdale Canal. It carried the double tracks between Manchester Piccadilly via Oxford Road station and Knott Mill railway station, then turns south-west, crosses the canal basin and heads for Altrincham. Designated as No.100A, it forms part of the long brick viaduct taking the Altrincham branch of the Manchester South Junction & Altrincham Railway through Knott Mill Station. The bridge, designed by William Baker, spans 31.9m. It has six cast iron ribs each made in five pieces and bolted together. The ribs are braced with cruciform cast iron sections. The twin railway tracks were carried on cast iron deck plates. The resident engineer was Henry Hemberow, and the sections were cast by Garforths of Dukinfield. The MSJ&A Railway was Manchester's first suburban railway line. A second cast iron rib arch bridge by Baker passed over Egerton Street but this was reconstructed in steel in 1976.
The central one in the group of three southwest of Deansgate Station is the high-level iron truss girder viaduct of 1877 built for the Cheshire Lines Committee by the Midland Railway. It's known as Cornbrook Viaduct. The viaduct is a red brick and wrought iron truss girder construction. When it opened in 1877, it carried trains coming from a temporary station to Irlam and Warrington, and Chorlton via a branch line. The temporary station was replaced by Sir John Fowler's Manchester Central Station in 1880, which operated until 1969 and is now used as an exhibition centre (Manchester Central).
To the north is the 1894 Great Northern viaduct that served the Great Northern Railway's warehouse in Deansgate. The high-level tubular steel viaduct is decorated with turrets. It was built for the Great Northern Railway

These bridges at Castlefield Manchester do indeed look like they have been just cast from molton iron as they cross the canal basin. Anyone familiar with the climate around here will know we were not facing weather extremes, just some sodium vapour lamps at dusk!
This track is from 'Beyond Good and Evil' (2001) the seventh studio album by English rock band The Cult.
The title of the record is a reference to Friedrich Nietzsche's 1886 book of the same title, and it briefly had the mock working title of Bring Me the Head of Dave Grohl, referencing the frontman of Foo Fighters, Probot and Them Crooked Vultures, and also the former drummer of Nirvana. In 2006, singer Ian Astbury claimed via the band's website that his preferred choice for the record's title was Demon Process.
'My Bridges Burn' was originally titled 'Save Me'
'Breathe' originally had the slightly longer title 'Breathe (You Bastard)' along with an overdub of keyboards after the guitar solo which was later removed
and 'Speed of Light' went through several different titles: originally titled 'Black California,' then 'Who Plays the Devil' before the band decided on its final title.

This opened in 1986, following conversion from the former Manchester Central station which had closed in 1969. The tram stop sits at southern edge of the former station throat, and the Altrincham/Eccles line travels south from here along the former Cheshire Lines Committee viaduct.
The platforms here are staggered?the end of each platform marks the point where trams switch between street running mode and segregated running mode. There is a footbridge over Whitworth Street, connecting G-Mex and its tram stop to Deansgate railway station, which sits atop a parallel viaduct

The network consists of six lines which radiate from Manchester city centre and terminate at Altrincham, Ashton-under-Lyne, Bury, Didsbury, Eccles, and Rochdale. A light rail system for Greater Manchester was borne of Greater Manchester County Council's obligations to provide an integrated and efficient system of public transport under its structure plan and the Transport Act 1968. Greater Manchester's public transport network suffered from poor north?south connections, exacerbated by the location of Manchester's main railway stations, Piccadilly and Victoria, which were unconnected and lay at opposite edges of central Manchester. Abandoning the monorail and underground options conceived in the 1960s and 1970s, light rail was proposed in 1982 as the best and most economical public transport solution for Manchester city centre and the surrounding Greater Manchester metropolitan area, and gathered support throughout the 1980s as an appropriate integrated commuter service.
Government approval was granted in 1988 and the network began operating services between Bury Interchange and Victoria on 6 April 1992. This founded the United Kingdom's first modern street-running rail system and its second operational public tram system, the 1885-built Blackpool tramway being the only heritage tram system in the UK that had endured up to Metrolink's creation.
Metrolink has 77 stops along 48.5 miles (78.1 km) of standard-gauge track routed through seven of the ten boroughs of Greater Manchester. The system has a mix of designated light railway (segregated from other traffic) and on-street tramway.

The network has 93 stops along 62 miles (100 km) of standard-gauge track,[9] making it the most extensive light rail system in the United Kingdom. With increased tram traffic brought about by the expansion of the Metrolink network, it became necessary to build a new route across Manchester City Centre to alleviate congestion and improve capacity.
Known as the Second City Crossing (or 2CC), the project involved laying 0.8 miles (1.3 km) of tram tracks from St Peter's Square tram stop via Princess Street, Albert Square, Cross Street and Corporation Street to rejoin the original Metrolink line just before Victoria station. One new tram stop was built at Exchange Square. The project also involved re-ordering St Peter's Square and re-siting the Cenotaph to accommodate an enlarged tram interchange and junction. Construction began in 2014, and the 2CC route opened fully in February 2017
