Since forming in 2009, Pod Point has manufactured and sold over 137,000 charging points. It has also developed one of the UK's largest public networks, connecting EV drivers with hundreds of charging stations nationwide at locations such as Tesco, Lidl, Sainsbury's, Center Parcs and Southern Rail.[3] Since 2014, when it signed a partnership with automaker Nissan, it also operates in Norway.
Pod Point operates the charge point Pod Point Network which is accessible via a smartphone app.
In 2018, Tesco, Volkswagen and Pod Point teamed up to install electric vehicle charging points in over 600 stores by 2022, to create the UK's largest retail EV charging network.
In 2018-2019, Pod Point launched its Electric Schools initiative. Up to thirty primary schools in highly polluted parts of the UK were given the opportunity to claim a free 7 kW Pod Point charging point and installation. The initiative was also launched to help inspire young learners on how EV technology will revolutionise the way we travel and use energy.
Pod Point also signed a deal with Mitie in 2019, the UK's leading facilities management and professional services company to install 800 electric vehicle (EV) chargepoints at its offices and staff homes.
In February 2020, Pod Point was acquired by EDF Energy through a newly-formed joint venture with Legal and General Capital.
In August 2020, Pod Point launched a new video series on YouTube called 'Electric Insights'. Pod Point interviews key industry players about electrification, sustainability and renewables. Guests include, Graeme Cooper - National Grid, Natasha Robinson - Head of OZEV, The Met Office, DPD and Volkswagen Financial Services.

Jung's work has been influential in the fields of psychiatry, anthropology, archaeology, literature, philosophy, psychology, and religious studies. Jung worked as a research scientist at the Burgh??lzli psychiatric hospital, in Zurich, under Eugen Bleuler. During this time, he came to the attention of Sigmund Freud, the founder of psychoanalysis. The two men conducted a lengthy correspondence and collaborated, for a while, on a joint vision of human psychology.
Freud saw the younger Jung as the heir he had been seeking to take forward his new science of psychoanalysis and to this end secured his appointment as president of his newly founded International Psychoanalytical Association. Jung's research and personal vision, however, made it difficult for him to follow his older colleague's doctrine and they parted ways. This division was personally painful for Jung and resulted in the establishment of Jung's analytical psychology as a comprehensive system separate from psychoanalysis.
Among the central concepts of analytical psychology is individuation?the lifelong psychological process of differentiation of the self out of each individual's conscious and unconscious elements. Jung considered it to be the main task of human development. He created some of the best known psychological concepts, including synchronicity, archetypal phenomena, the collective unconscious, the psychological complex and extraversion and introversion.
Jung was also an artist, craftsman, builder and a prolific writer. Many of his works were not published until after his death and some are still awaiting publication

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy EY7XFM - Bridgewater Place, nicknamed The Dalek, is an office and residential skyscraper development in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It is the tallest building in Yorkshire, and has held this record since being topped out in September 2005. It is visible at up to 25 miles (40 km) from certain areas.
The development has been designed by Aedas Architects with the developer being Landmark Development Projects and St James Securities with Bovis Lend Lease being the contractor. The developer of the residential element of Bridgewater Place is KW Linfoot.
It was first announced in 2000 and, following several redesigns and delays with the construction process, construction of the building began in 2004 and was completed in 2007. It became the tallest building in Leeds, by a significant margin, and Yorkshire (although this does not take into account structures such as Emley Moor). Bridgewater Place has a height of 112 metres (367 ft) to roof level. Originally the tower was to have a spire which would have extended the height of the building to 137 metres (449 ft), however this was never built.
Bridgewater Place has 32 storeys, of which two are used for car parking, ten for offices and twenty for residential purposes. There is 40,000 square metres / 430,560 square feet of floor space in the building with 200 flats and 400 underground car parking spaces serving both the residential and commercial areas of the building.
Current office tenants include Eversheds, Ernst & Young, ghd, BDO Stoy Hayward and DWF LLP. Retail tenants include Tesco, Starbucks, Panini Shack and Philpotts. The residential element of the development has proved to be a prestigious city centre address.
The major part of the building's construction was completed by late December 2006.[citation needed] The completion of the entire building was commemorated on Thursday 26 April 2007. A special episode of Look North, the BBC's local regional news programme was produced to commemorate the opening of the tower.

The line used to continue to Manchester but due to structural damage on a bridge over the Ship Canal, it was truncated at Latchford Sidings in the 1980s, just past Arpley Junction to the east.
The main freight passing beneath Warrington station are coal trains to Fiddlers Ferry Power Station. These follow a complex route from Liverpool Docks. Most workings reverse at Edge Hill, before proceeding via Rainhill and Earlestown and through Bank Quay station. They then run round in Arpley Yards, before passing Arpley Junction to Latchford Sidings. They then run round again to pass Arpley once more to head to Fiddlers Ferry. Occasionally they can be routed via Widnes to Liverpool instead of via the reverse of the above route, which will entail them exiting Fiddlers Ferry, passing Arpley Junction to Latchford, running round and heading back past Arpley and Fiddlers Ferry to Speke. Generally a train will take 30-40 minutes between passing through Bank Quay on the main line to heading under the station to Fiddlers Ferry. They will take about 90-120 minutes then to return. There are usually about 3 trains operating this circuit, but are dependant on a ship arriving at Liverpool Bulk Terminal.
Other freight trains also use Latchford Sidings to reverse when Arpley Yard is busy.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy DDXKRH - The Albert Dock is a complex of dock buildings and warehouses in Liverpool, England. Designed by Jesse Hartley and Philip Hardwick, it was opened in 1846, and was the first structure in Britain to be built from cast iron, brick and stone, with no structural wood. As a result, it was the first non-combustible warehouse system in the world.
At the time of its construction the Albert Dock was considered a revolutionary docking system because ships were loaded and unloaded directly from/to the warehouses. Two years after it opened it was modified to feature the world's first hydraulic cranes. Due to its open yet secure design, the Albert Dock became a popular store for valuable cargoes such as brandy, cotton, tea, silk, tobacco, ivory and sugar. However, despite the Albert Dock's advanced design, the rapid development of shipping technology meant that within 50 years, larger, more open docks were required, although it remained a valuable store for cargo.
During the Second World War, the Albert Dock was requisitioned by the Admiralty serving as a base for boats of the British Atlantic Fleet. The complex was damaged during air raids on Liverpool, notably during the May Blitz of 1941. In the aftermath of the war, the financial problems of the owners and the general decline of docking in the city meant that the future of the Albert Dock was uncertain. Numerous plans were developed for the re-use of the buildings but none came to fruition and in 1972 the dock was finally closed. Station to Station is the tenth studio album by English musician David Bowie, released by RCA Records in 1976. Commonly regarded as one of his most significant works, Station to Station is also notable as the vehicle for Bowie's last great 'character', The Thin White Duke.
The album was recorded after he completed shooting Nicolas Roeg's The Man Who Fell to Earth, and the cover featured a still from the movie. During the sessions Bowie was heavily dependent on drugs, especially cocaine, and recalls almost nothing of the production.
Musically, Station to Station was a transitional album for Bowie, developing the funk and soul music of his previous release, Young Americans, while presenting a new direction towards synthesisers and motorik rhythms that was influenced by German electronic bands such as Kraftwerk and Neu!.
This trend would culminate in some of his most acclaimed work, the so-called Berlin Trilogy, recorded with Brian Eno in 1977\u201379. Bowie himself has said that Station to Station was 'a plea to come back to Europe for me'. The album\u2019s lyrics, meanwhile, reflected his preoccupations with Nietzsche, Aleister Crowley, mythology and religion.
With its blend of funk and Krautrock, romantic balladry and occultism, Station to Station has been described as 'simultaneously one of Bowie's most accessible albums and his most impenetrable'. Featuring the single 'Golden Years', it made the Top 5 in both the UK and US charts. In 2003, the album was ranked number 323 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.
In the early days of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway (L&
MR), the Liverpool terminus was located at Crown Street, in Edge Hill, officially opened in 1830. Construction of a purpose-built station began in October 1833, the land being purchased from Liverpool Corporation for \u00a39000. A tunnel was constructed between Edge Hill and the new station (starting in 1832, prior to station construction), and the station was opened to the public in August 1836, although construction was not completed until the following year.
Because of the steep incline between Lime Street and Edge Hill, trains were stopped at Edge Hill, their locomotives removed, and the passenger carriages taken down by gravity, descent controlled by brakemen. The return journey was achieved by using a stationary engine to haul the carriages up with rope.
Within six years, the rapid growth of the railways meant that the original station needed to be extended, and a plan was made to erect an iron roof similar to that found at Euston station in London, ridge roofs supported by iron columns
however, Richard Turner and William Fairburn submitted a design for a single curved roof, which won the approval of the station committee. The work cost \u00a315,000, and was completed in 1849. A second roof was added in the 1880s.
In 1845 the L&
MR was absorbed by its principal business partner, the Grand Junction Railway (GJR)
the following year the GJR formed part of the London and North Western Railway. The station was one of the first to send mail by train. The North Western Hotel designed by Alfred Waterhouse, was built in front of the station - this still stands, having been converted to accommodation for students of Liverpool John Moores University. At 'the grouping' in 1923, the station passed to the ownership of the London, Midland and Scottish (LMS) railway, and, in 1948, the London Midland Region of British Railways.
Lime Street was part of the first stage of electrification of the West Coast Main Line in 1959. In 1966, the station saw the launch of the first InterCity service.
Lime Street was voted the equal worst of the 20 busiest UK railway stations in a 2007 poll but was voted 'Station of the Year 2010' at the National Rail Awards thanks in part to a recent reburbishment

A track from Swindons finest, XTC. You might know them best from 1979's 'Making Plans for Nigel' and the later 'Senses Working Overtime'. The core of the band was Andy Partridge (guitars &
vocals) and Colin Moulding (bass &
vocals). Their style was described as hyperactive pop fused with art rock.
'White Music' was the debut album and it received favourable reviews and entered the British top 40. Lead single 'Statue of Liberty' was banned by the BBC however for making allegedly lewd references to the famous statue ('in my fantasy I sail beneath your skirt'). How very 'British!'.
On 4 April 1982, XTC were scheduled to play at the Hollywood Palladium. Before the show began, it was announced that XTC would not take the stage due to Andy Partridge's illness. XTC never played another tour date. XTC would, however, perform several acoustic sets for radio only in 1989. So a come back tour is unlikely!

Description: Tony Smith image Flickr 4469547119 - 'Fiddlers Ferry has been a landmark visable from Runcorn, Warrington and Widnes since the early 1970's. Its a coal fired power station on the banks of the Mersey River, which supplies all its cooling water. In recent years it has been adapted to also burn bio-mass. It can generate nearly 2,000 Megawatts.
Living in Glossop I remember massive freight trains of coal trucks coming over Woodhead and the Dinting viaduct headed for Fiddlers Ferry. Many trains overnighted at the sidings at Gamesley. Fuel for it these days comes mainly from Liverpool docks. Sulphur emissions are reduced by a new FGD plant installed in 2008. Carbon Dioxide is still pumped out of the chimneys as before though to be added to our delicate climate.
Its eight towers can be seen from various high points, including here at the cemetary at Pewtersspear, above Stockton Heath. A modern pub called the Eight Towers (not one of my usual haunts), is located only a short distance away.

Queens Park Suspension Bridge, links the walled city centre and the Groves with the Queens Park area on the southern bank. This was built in 1923 to replace an earlier construction. It is painted white and lit at night.
The river was why the Romans came to build their fort here and the area below the city of Chester (now called The Roodee), which is now occupied by the racecourse was where the harbour was located. Over time the river silted and Liverpool became the port of choice for sea going vessels.
Near to this pedestrian bridge, north of town, is the Groves. A paved promenade complete with bandstand, caf??s, restaurants and pubs. Here there are river cruises or rowing boats to hire.

These important architectural landmarks are:
The Royal Liver Building, built between 1908 and 1911 and designed by Walter Aubrey Thomas. It is a grade I listed building consisting of two clock towers, both crowned by mythical Liver Birds. The building is the headquarters of the Royal Liver Friendly Society. Now Deutsche Bank.
The Cunard Building, constructed between 1914 and 1916 and a grade II* listed building. It is the former headquarters of the Cunard Line shipping company.
The Port of Liverpool Building, built from 1903 to 1907 and also grade II* listed. It is the former home of the Mersey Docks and Harbour Board.
Added to this left and right is the new Beatles exhiition and the museum of Liverpool life.
Work commenced in 2007 to build a canal link between the Leeds-Liverpool Canal and the South Docks. The \u00a322 million pound 1.6 mile extension to the Leeds-Liverpool Canal was officially opened on 25 March 2009. It opens to boaters at the end of April and links the 127 miles of the existing canal to the city\u2019s South Docks, passing Pier Head and the famous Three Graces. The Pier Head was in this form for the 2008 city of culture celebrations.
At first, the Prince's Landing Stage was situated at the Pier Head to serve the trans-Atlantic liner service. There were many stages built during Liverpool's history, the most recent opened in the 1890s and was joined to the neighbouring George's Landing Stage, situated to the south. After further lengthening took place in the early twentieth century, the combined structure originally measured nearly 3,000 feet, almost half a mile. Both were scrapped in 1973, following the termination of trans-Atlantic services from Liverpool.
In the three years or so I worked in Liverpool, Pier Head served as a major bus interchange. There was also a very poor Beefeater / Berni Inn pub at the Pier head too, where the Beatles exhibition is today.

You can almost imagine the sea shanties from years gone past wafting up from the old clippers and other boats that must have plied the Mersey river to make this the great city that it is.
Shanties go way beyond the stereotype of a song about the sea that simply ends '..never to return'. In the days when human muscles were the only power source available aboard ship, sea shanties served a practical purpose: the rhythm of the song served to synchronize the movements of the sailors as they toiled at repetitive tasks. They also served a social purpose: singing and listening to songs is pleasant
it alleviates boredom and lightens the burden of hard work, of which there was no shortage on long voyages in those days.
Most shanties are 'call and response' songs, with one voice (the shantyman) singing the line and the chorus of sailors bellowing the response (compare military cadence calls). For example, the shanty 'Boney':

Shanties can be split into a number of catagories. Long-haul or 'halyard' / 'long-drag') sung when hauling a long rope rope. Short-drag - as before, but a short rope. Capstan Shanties: Raising the anchor on a ship. Pumping Shanties, for pumping out the bilge hold. By now you probably realise how hard sailing used to be!
Sailors reputed to be good shantymen were valued and respected, although were expected to do their proper jobs too.
In recent times, the shanty style has been recycled by artists as wide afield as the Sex Pistols ('Frigging in the Rigging') and the Decemberists ('Mariners Revenge Song').
The theme song for the television show SpongeBob SquarePants (a version of 'Blow the Man Down') is one. Even the song 'Reise, Reise' by the german metal band Rammstein is based on a shanty.

Albert Dock is a complex of dock buildings and warehouses in Liverpool, England. Designed by Jesse Hartley and Philip Hardwick, it was opened in 1846, and was the first structure in Britain to be built from cast iron, brick and stone, with no structural wood. As a result, it was the first non-combustible warehouse system in the world.
At the time of its construction the Albert Dock was considered a revolutionary docking system because ships were loaded and unloaded directly from/to the warehouses. Two years after it opened it was modified to feature the world's first hydraulic cranes. Due to its open yet secure design, the Albert Dock became a popular store for valuable cargoes such as brandy, cotton, tea, silk, tobacco, ivory and sugar. However, despite the Albert Dock's advanced design, the rapid development of shipping technology meant that within 50 years, larger, more open docks were required, although it remained a valuable store for cargo.
During the Second World War, the Albert Dock was requisitioned by the Admiralty serving as a base for boats of the British Atlantic Fleet. The complex was damaged during air raids on Liverpool, notably during the May Blitz of 1941. In the aftermath of the war, the financial problems of the owners and the general decline of docking in the city meant that the future of the Albert Dock was uncertain. Here at dusk during heavy rain. Nice reflections on the cobbles and the wheel in the distance, near the new Liverpool One shopping centre.
The original building dates from 1878 when dockside cranes were converted to hydraulic use. However by 1920 due to the Albert dock being too small for the size of many cargo ships in use, it was mainly utilised for storage.
Regeneration started in 1981.

The Salford Quays lift bridge or Salford Quays Millennium footbridge is a 91.2-metre long vertical lift bridge bridge spanning the Manchester Ship Canal in Salford, Greater Manchester, England. The bridge, which was completed in 2000, is near the terminus of the ship canal at the old Manchester Docks. It links Salford Quays to MediaCityUK and has a lift of 18 metres, allowing large watercraft to pass beneath.

It was opened in 1961 as a replacement for the Widnes-Runcorn Transporter Bridge, and was initially known simply as the Runcorn Bridge or Runcorn?Widnes Bridge. In 1975?77 it was widened, after which it was given its official name in honour of the Queen's Silver Jubilee.
It carries the A533 road and a cantilevered footway. The bridge has been designated by English Heritage as a Grade II listed structure
The new bridge had to allow the passage of shipping along the Manchester Ship Canal. Many ideas were considered, including a new transporter bridge or a swing bridge. These were considered to be impractical and it was decided that the best solution was a high-level bridge upstream from the railway bridge. This would allow the least obstruction to shipping and would also be at the narrowest crossing point.
The first plan for a high-level bridge was a truss bridge with three or five spans, giving a 24 feet (7 m) dual carriageway with a cycle track and footpaths. This was abandoned because it was too expensive, and because one of the piers would be too close to the wall of the ship canal. The next idea was for a suspension bridge with a span of 1,030 feet (314 m) between the main towers with a 24 feet (7 m) single carriageway and a 6-foot (2 m) footpath. However aerodynamic tests on models of the bridge showed that, while the bridge itself would be stable, the presence of the adjacent railway bridge would cause severe oscillation.
The finally accepted design was for a steel through arch bridge with a 30-foot (9 m) single carriageway. The company was established by John Wardle and David Makin (hence the name JD), trading from a single shop in Bury, Greater Manchester, in 1981. The company opened a store in the Arndale Centre in Manchester in 1983. Pentland Group bought Wardle's and Makin's shares for ?44.6M in May 2005, so acquiring 45% of the business.

Early acquisitions of stores included 209 stores with the acquisition of First Sport from Blacks Leisure Group in December 2001 and 70 stores from the administrators of Allsports in October 2005
