Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 3EKNXPY - This photograph shows Dixie Dean memorial tiles at Everton FC's new Hill Dickinson Stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock in Liverpool, a detail linking the club's modern Mersey waterfront home with one of the most famous names in English stock-photo/gotonysmith-Football.html?sortBy=relevant&pseudoid=237DAF28-A4ED-4448-8173-C0E81ABEEC6F Target=_Blank>football history. William Ralph Dixie Dean remains central to Everton identity because of his astonishing 1927-28 league season, when he scored 60 goals in 39 games, a top-flight record that still carries huge cultural weight for football writers, supporters, historians and image buyers. The tiles work as a compact visual symbol of memory, migration and continuity: Everton's men's team has moved from the tight streets and long traditions of Goodison Park to a large new dockside stadium, yet fan culture still depends on names, rituals, inscriptions and local stories being carried forward. The image may suit editorial use around Everton, Premier League football, Liverpool sport, club heritage, supporter commemoration, naming rights, stadium regeneration, dockland redevelopment, football tourism and the emotional geography of leaving an old ground for a new one. It also has value for wider features on how major clubs use public realm, fan plazas, engraved paving and memorial details to preserve identity in highly commercial modern venues. Bramley-Moore Dock sits in the Vauxhall and north docks area beside the River Mersey, a former working dock landscape now tied to debates about regeneration, heritage, transport, matchday crowds and the changing Liverpool waterfront. The spelling Hill Dickinson is important because the stadium name comes from the Liverpool-founded law firm's naming rights deal, while Bramley-Moore Dock remains the place-name many supporters still use. For stock photography, the appeal is in the readable Everton reference, the famous Dixie Dean name, the new stadium setting and the layered story of football memory, local pride, commercial branding, urban change and supporters making a new home feel Evertonian.

The photograph can illustrate public transport, bus franchising, route branding, passenger services, regional mobility, coach operations and the practical detail of local travel. For image buyers, the value is in the combination of recognisable subject, readable wording, location evidence and a plain documentary style that can be dropped into news, magazine, web, council, housing, transport, heritage or commercial commentary without looking over-produced. Searchable related phrases include heritage, history, old, Manchester, United, MUFC, ticket, football, soccer, memorabilia, historic, tickets, plus wider ideas such as local identity, public realm, urban detail, social history, commercial change, everyday Britain, documentary photography and place-based storytelling. The composition gives designers scope for captions, page furniture, social media crops, report covers and article thumbnails, while the detailed captioning makes it more discoverable for searches using both specific place names and broader themes. It has value for both local and national stories, especially where writers need to connect a named place or object with wider economic, social, environmental or cultural change.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2R55HP3 - Everton Football Club is an English professional association football club based in Liverpool that competes in the Premier League, the top tier of English football. The club was a founder member of the Football League in 1888, and has, as of May 2023, competed in the top division for a record 120 seasons, having missed only four top-flight seasons (1930“31, 1951“52, 1952“53, and 1953“54). Everton is the club with the second-longest continuous presence in English top-flight football, and ranks third in the all-time points rankings. The club has won nine league titles, five FA Cups, one European Cup Winners' Cup and nine Charity Shields.
Formed in 1878, Everton won their first League Championship during the 1890“91 season. After winning four more League championships and two FA Cups, the club experienced a post-Second World War lull until a revival in the 1960s. A period of sustained success came in the mid-1980s, when Everton won a further two League championships, one FA Cup, and the 1985 European Cup Winners' Cup. The club's most recent major trophy was the 1995 FA Cup.
The club's supporters are colloquially known as Evertonians or Blues. Everton's main rivals are Liverpool, whose home stadium at Anfield is just under one mile away from Everton's home at Goodison Park
the two clubs contest the Merseyside derby. Everton have been based at Goodison Park since 1892, having moved from their original home at Anfield following a disagreement over its rent. The club's home colours are royal blue shirts with white shorts and socks.
Goodison Park is a football stadium in the Walton area of Liverpool, England, 2 miles (3 km) north of the city centre. It has been the home of Premier League club Everton since 1892 and has an all-seated capacity of 39,414.

Liverpool is to get a new sculpture of its iconic symbol, the Liver Bird.
The 6ft (1.8m) statue will stand at the entrance to Liverpool Central Station from early 2015.
Sculptor Rick Myers said it would celebrate the new Liverpool and the massive number of firsts that have been achieved here.
Councillor Nick Small said the bird would be a fantastic way of celebrating the city's proud history... seen by up to 50,000 people a day.
The statue will be dedicated to former Commercial District Partnership chief executive Paul Rice, who died in 2012.
The current chief executive Bill Addy said it was fantastic to see that Paul, who did so much to improve and promote Liverpool, is to be remembered at a high profile city centre location in such a striking fashion.
The fact that it's the emblem of the city and his beloved football club - his two great passions - is a fitting tribute.
Liver Birds Inc director Arthur Johnson said he expected the sculpture to be a popular photo spot for tourists, football fans and shoppers.
A seal from 1352 depicts the symbol of Liverpool as a bird holding something in its beak
Over the years, it became the Liver Bird, an eagle mixed with elements of a shoveler, spoonbill and cormorant
The largest, best known Liver Birds stand at 18ft (5.5m) on top of the Royal Liver Building on Liverpool's waterfront
The bird also features on the city's logo, the badge of Liverpool FC and the crests of both the University of Liverpool and Liverpool John Moores University

This music you may remember from BBC Saturday Sport was composed by MES (Mark E Smith) and The Fall. To get a feel for the show, check this out. Unfortunately, his beloved Man City had managed a 'Hopeless as usual performance' in their 0-0 draw against Blackburn.
The Fall are an English post-punk group, formed in Prestwich, Greater Manchester in 1976. The group has existed in some form ever since, and is essentially built around its founder and only constant member Mark E. Smith. First associated with the punk movement of the late 1970s, the group's music has gone through several stylistic changes over the years.
However, The Fall's music is often characterised by repetition, an abrasive guitar-driven sound, and is always underpinned by Smith's vocals and often cryptic lyrics, described by critic Steve Huey as 'abstract poetry filled with complicated wordplay, bone-dry wit, cutting social observations, and general misanthropy (sometimes more implied than clearly stated, but apparent nonetheless).'
The group's output is prolific. As of September 2010 they have released 28 studio albums, and more than triple that counting live albums and other releases. They have never achieved widespread public success beyond a handful of minor hit singles in the late 1980s, but have maintained a strong cult following. The band were long associated with BBC disc jockey John Peel, who championed them from early on in their career and cited The Fall as his favourite band, famously explaining, 'They are always different, they are always the same.'. The Fall were the only band who merited a seperate section in John Peel's record collection.
MES does manage the band like a football team, bringing in new talent and mavericks (many he encounters in the pub in Prestwich) acting as foreman. Dave Simpson's book 'The Fallen' is a great guide to the world of The Fall.
The last time I saw them was in Liverpool 2008 when MES had just turned 50. The band's Peel sessions were finally released recently by Castle Records in the six-CD box 'The Complete Peel Sessions 1978-2004'. This is a good starting point for getting to know the varied music of the band. The lastest album 'Your Future, Our Clutter' is also worth a listen to wet your appetite. Tell 'em I sent you.....

This is quite an old shot. In the current climate I may not even have attempted to take it.
I have heard it said that many classic shots from the likes of Cartier Bresson and others would not be able to take many of their classic images these days. Very sad.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 3EFHRNP - Vintage match ticket for the 1966 FIFA World Cup quarter-final between Portugal and North Korea at Goodison Park, Liverpool, played on Saturday 23 July 1966 with a 3pm kick-off. The ticket is marked Goodison Park Liverpool , World Championship 1966 , Jules Rimet Cup , Quarter Final , Terrace , Gwladys Street , and price 7/6 , giving strong visible editorial context for one of the tournament's most dramatic matches. Portugal won 5-3 after North Korea led 3-0, with Eusébio's goals helping turn the tie into one of the great World Cup comeback stories. The image is commercially useful for editorial features on the 1966 World Cup, football memorabilia, vintage match tickets, Goodison Park history, Everton's stadium heritage, Liverpool sporting culture, international football, Portugal football history, North Korean football history, Eusébio, the Jules Rimet Trophy era and 1960s sporting design. The aged paper, numbered admission stub, terrace wording, Gwladys Street entrance reference, Football Association secretary signature and simple black typography evoke a period before digital ticketing, all-seater stadiums and modern tournament branding. Goodison Park, long associated with Everton FC, hosted World Cup fixtures in 1966 and remains closely linked with English football architecture, terracing culture, crowd history and Merseyside sport. This ticket also suits stories about collectable ephemera, fan experience, match-day access, analogue sporting records, archival football material, historic tournaments, classic World Cup shocks, and the commercial afterlife of sporting souvenirs. The Portugal v North Korea quarter-final is remembered for North Korea's extraordinary early lead and Portugal's recovery, making the ticket valuable as documentary evidence of a famous live football occasion. Its worn surface, punched holes and serial number add authenticity for collectors and historians illustrating the material culture of major sporting events.

After suffering relegation in the 2006“07 season and unable to achieve promotion, Klopp resigned in 2008 as the club's longest-serving manager. He then became manager of Borussia Dortmund, guiding them to the Bundesliga title in 2010“11, before winning Dortmund's first-ever domestic double during a record-breaking season. Klopp also guided Dortmund to a runner-up finish in the 2012“13 UEFA Champions League before leaving in 2015 as their longest-serving manager.
Klopp was appointed manager of Liverpool in 2015. He has guided the club to UEFA Champions League finals in 2018 and 2022, and won the trophy in 2019 to secure his first “ and Liverpool's sixth “ title in the competition. Klopp's side finished second in the 2018“19 Premier League, registering 97 points

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2CBTEEE - 3rd December 2019 - Trent Alexander-Arnold helps launch Christmas foodbank appeal by LFC
Liverpool Football Club launched its Christmas Foodbank Appeal today ahead of Wednesday's Merseyside derby at Anfield.
Trent Alexander-Arnold took time out before training on Monday to drop by North Liverpool Foodbank to donate food, meet with staff and volunteers and find out more about the centre's important work.
The No.66 said: It was a pleasure to be able to visit the foodbank and meet with the hard-working staff and volunteers. Their dedication makes such a difference to people who need their help. I'm really proud that my club is supporting such an important cause.
Trent's support was matched by a visit from Everton FC players Moise Kean and Alex Iwobi, who also donated food and helped to weigh and sort donations.
These visits, along with other club activity, are helping to raise awareness of food poverty and encourage food donations leading up to and throughout the Christmas period, which can be a difficult time for many people.
LFC staff have worked together to create the club's first ever Christmas Giving Tree, made out of food donations, which proudly features on the club's official Christmas card that is being distributed around the world to thousands of contacts.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2CBTEFC - Robert Paisley OBE (23 January 1919 “ 14 February 1996) was an English footballer and manager who spent almost fifty years with Liverpool as a wing half, physiotherapist, coach and manager. Due to his achievements as Liverpool manager, Paisley is regarded as one of the greatest English managers of all time. Reluctantly taking the job in 1974, he built on the foundations laid by his predecessor Bill Shankly. Paisley was the first manager, and is one of three, to have won the European Cup three times. He is also one of five managers to have won the English top-flight championship as both a player and manager at the same club.
Paisley came from a small Durham mining community and, in his youth, played for Bishop Auckland before he signed for Liverpool in 1939. During the Second World War, he served in the British Army and could not make his Liverpool debut until 1946. In the 1946“47 season, he was a member of the Liverpool team that won the First Division title for the first time in 24 years. In 1951, he was made club captain and remained with Liverpool until he retired from playing in 1954.
He stayed with Liverpool and took on two roles as reserve team coach and club physiotherapist. By this time, Liverpool had been relegated to the Second Division and their facilities were in decline. In December 1959, Shankly was appointed Liverpool manager and he promoted Paisley to work alongside him as his assistant in a management/coaching team that included Joe Fagan and Reuben Bennett. Under their leadership, the fortunes of Liverpool turned around dramatically and, in the 1961“62 season, the team gained promotion back to the First Division. Paisley filled an important role as tactician under Shankly's leadership and the team won numerous honours during the next twelve seasons.
In 1974, Shankly retired as manager and, despite Paisley's own initial reluctance, he was appointed as Shankly's successor.
