Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 3E9346W - Exterior of Cheshire Coroner's Court stock-photo/gotonysmith-Offices.html?sortBy=relevant&pseudoid=237DAF28-A4ED-4448-8173-C0E81ABEEC6F Target=_Blank>offices on Museum Street in Warrington, Cheshire, showing the red brick civic building frontage, formal stone entrance, sash windows and large white court lettering on the wall. The image is useful for editorial coverage of coronial law, inquests, sudden or unexplained deaths, death certification, bereavement, public hearings, witness evidence, post mortem investigations, hospital deaths, road traffic fatalities, workplace accidents, deaths in custody and other cases where a coroner must establish who died, and how, when and where the death occurred. Cheshire Coroner's Court listings identify Museum Street, Warrington WA1 1JX as the location for inquest hearings, while national coroner contact listings identify Jacqueline Devonish as Senior Coroner for Cheshire, with administrative contact through Warrington. The photograph has strong local news value for Warrington, Cheshire and North West England, especially for articles needing a clear exterior image of the coroner's court without showing grieving families, witnesses or private proceedings. It can also support wider features on the role of coroners in the justice system, public accountability, medical evidence, police liaison, registrars, funeral processes, prevention of future deaths reports and the difficult interface between law, medicine and family loss. The building's restrained official appearance, red brick frontage and court signage make it suitable for stock uses around civic administration, local government, public law, inquest timetables, legal services, official records and court reporting. Care should be taken with captions because coroner's courts deal with sensitive personal cases and are not criminal courts, though their findings can overlap with police investigations, public safety concerns and wider inquiries. The image is particularly relevant to Cheshire-wide inquest coverage, including cases arising from Warrington, Chester, Crewe, Macclesfield, Halton etc

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 3EKP0CP - Thames Magistrates' Court stands prominently on Bow Road in east London, photographed in warm daylight through leafy roadside trees. The broad civic building combines brown brick, pale stone cladding, long horizontal windows and a central entrance tower carrying the Royal Arms. Steps lead up from the pavement to the main doors, while a London bus shelter and pedestrians place the courthouse within the everyday streetscape of Bow and the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.
The court is part of His Majesty's Courts and Tribunals Service and deals with criminal cases and Single Justice Procedure matters. Magistrates' courts hear less serious criminal offences, conduct preliminary hearings for cases sent to the Crown Court, consider bail applications and deal with matters such as road traffic offences, public order, assault, theft and non-payment of fines. The building contains multiple courtrooms and supporting facilities for defendants, witnesses, legal representatives, court staff and members of the public.
Opened around 1990, the courthouse was designed by Philip Arrand, architect to the Metropolitan Police. Its substantial institutional architecture reflects the late twentieth-century expansion and modernisation of London's justice estate. The Bow Road location places it close to Bow Road Underground station, Bow Church DLR station, local bus services and the wider transport corridor between central London and Stratford.
The image is suitable for editorial coverage of magistrates' courts, criminal justice, court hearings, law and order, public services, legal proceedings, sentencing, policing, HMCTS, court administration, access to justice, government buildings and civic architecture. It also documents a recognisable east London courthouse serving communities across Tower Hamlets and neighbouring parts of the capital. The scene also supports coverage of legal aid, witness services, civic accountability and access to local justice in east London.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2RWMEP3 - The Raymond Revuebar (1958“2004) was a theatre and strip club at 11 Walker's Court (now the location of The Box Soho nightclub), in the centre of London's Soho district. For many years, it was the only venue in London that offered full-frontal, on-stage nudity of the sort commonly seen in other cities in Europe and North America. Its huge brightly lit sign declaring it to be the World Centre of Erotic Entertainment made the Revuebar a local landmark.
In 1980, the Boulevard Theatre section of the venue was hired by comic actor Peter Richardson to stage his alternative comedy revue, The Comic Strip. This attracted a younger punk audience to the venue. In 1989, the Boulevard became Eddie Izzard's stand-up venue.
In the 1990s, the Revuebar struggled, with its dated image and competition from newer venues such as Spearmint Rhino and Stringfellow's. The name and leasehold was bought by Gérard Simi in 1997. The Revuebar closed on 10 June 2004

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2R5PNXA - This image shows a close-up view of the spine of a bound legal volume titled The Conveyancer, a long-established legal journal associated with property and conveyancing law in the United Kingdom. The traditional red and gold spine design reflects the formal presentation typical of law reports and legal reference works found in professional and academic law libraries.
Publications such as The Conveyancer have historically been used by solicitors, barristers, and legal scholars for reference, commentary, and analysis of developments in property law. The aged appearance of the binding evokes themes of legal heritage, scholarship, and the evolution of legal practice prior to digital research tools.
The image is suitable for editorial and commercial use relating to law, conveyancing, legal education, publishing history, archival collections, and professional libraries, as well as conceptual illustrations of property law, legal tradition, and authority

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2KF6R7X - The foundation stone for the new Courts of Justice was laid on 16 July 1890 by Prince Albert Victor, Duke of Clarence and Avondale.
The Magistrates' Court was built between 1890 and 1892 to the designs of the architects Huon Arthur Matear and Henry Bloomfield Bare. The quantity surveyor was Charles Wise of Liverpool and the contract for construction was let to Parker and Sharpe of York. The cost of construction was £17,050 (equivalent to £1,972,600 in 2021).
They were opened on 19 October 1892 by the Lord Mayor of York, John Close who unveiled a bust of the late Duke of Clarence which had be sculpted by Francis John Williamson. The style of the building was a free treatment of Gothic architecture with the main entrance on Clifford Street and a projecting bay at each end carried up to octagonal turrets enriched with carved stonework at a greater height that the remainder of the facade. In the apex of the pediment is carved the arms of the city of York and above them a figure of Justice holding the scales. Behind is a clock tower.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy DB0FWK - The adult shop, seedy place to buy magazines, sex toys and DVDs
A sex shop or erotic shop is a shop that sells products related to adult sexual or erotic entertainment, such as vibrators, lingerie, clothing, pornography, and other related products. The world's first sex shop was opened in 1962 by Beate Uhse AG in Flensburg, West Germany, and sex shops can now be found in many countries. Many sex shops also trade over the internet. Sex shops are part of the sex industry.
In most jurisdictions, sex shops are regulated by law, with access not permitted to minors, the age depending on local law. Some jurisdictions prohibit sex shops and the merchandise they sell. In some jurisdictions that permit it, they may also show pornographic movies in private video booths, or have private striptease or peep shows. Also an adult movie theater may be attached.
Near borders of countries with different laws regarding sex shops, shops on the more liberal side tend to be popular with customers from the other side, especially if importing the purchased materials by customers to their own country, and possessing them, is legal or tolerated

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy D8HD49 - Minimum alcohol pricing in Scotland.
Five European wine-producing nations are trying to block Scotland's plans for minimum alcohol pricing.
France, Spain, Italy, Portugal and Bulgaria have said the policy is illegal, unfair and ineffective and could have a devastating impact on the wine and spirits industry.
They argue that it breaches European free trade law by discriminating against imported alcohol products.
The Scottish government insisted minimum pricing was perfectly legal.
The European Commission (EC) is currently considering the Scottish government's request to be granted an exemption from trade regulations to enact the minimum price law which was approved by the Scottish Parliament last year.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy RM9ARJ - This documentary stock photograph shows The Tunnel, Authorised Graffiti Area, Leake Street, Waterloo, Lambeth, London, South East England, UK, SE1 7NN. Leake Street near Waterloo is one of London's best-known authorised graffiti locations, strongly associated with street art, youth culture, legal walls and the continuing debate about public art, tagging, vandalism, regeneration and managed urban creativity. The image is useful because it records readable signage, giving editors a credible real-world illustration of a place where graffiti is not simply an illegal mark but part of a recognised visual environment. The tunnel setting adds a gritty, layered urban feel, with walls that can change quickly as new pieces cover older work. That makes the photograph relevant for stories about street art tourism, creative districts, London nightlife, subculture, public realm management, youth expression, urban photography and the way cities absorb and commercialise counterculture. It can also support commentary on policing, community spaces, permission walls, spray-paint culture, Banksy-era interest in graffiti, and the tension between spontaneous expression and curated visitor attractions. Search-friendly composite phrases include Leake Street graffiti tunnel, Waterloo authorised graffiti area, London street art wall, urban art culture, legal graffiti space, South Bank creative quarter and London alternative tourism. The image would suit editorial, travel, arts, youth, education, crime prevention, regeneration, planning, cultural policy and local news uses. It is especially valuable where a generic graffiti texture would be too anonymous, because the caption fixes the subject to a specific and widely recognised London location. The photograph also helps illustrate how places beneath railway arches and transport infrastructure can be repurposed into distinctive cultural spaces rather than treated only as leftover urban land.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy CEMWBN - All Saints Church Thelwall, South Warrington, Cheshire England UK United Kingdom.
All Saints Church, Thelwall, is in the village of Thelwall, Cheshire, England. The church has been designated by English Heritage as a Grade II listed building. It is an active Anglican parish church in the diocese of Chester, the archdeaconry of Chester and the deanery of Great Budworth.
[edit] History
The origins of a church or chapel at Thelwall are unclear. It has been thought that a chapel was built by Richard Brooke of Norton Priory but a legal suit in 1663 suggests that there was a chapel on the site before this date. At this time Thelwall was in the parish of Runcorn. In 1663 the chapel on the site was restored by Robert Pickering. After this the chapel fell into disrepair. It was restored again and re-opened in 1782. By the following century the church was too small for its congregation and in 1843 a new church was built and consecrated. This consisted of a nave which was designed by J. Mountford Allen. In 1856 the chancel was built at the expense of James Nicholson and the nave was extended by one bay. In 1890 Henry Stanton commissioned a new north aisle, a new baptistry with a new font, and a new vestry. The aisle and vestry, together with a north porch, were designed by William Owen.
[edit] Architecture
The church is built in sandstone with steeply pitched slate roofs. Its plan consists of a nave of six bays, a chancel of two bays, a north aisle and a west porch. A west bellcote has one bell.
The chancel has a floor of marble and coloured glazed tiles. The reredos has two panels of Biblical scenes in marble which are separated by plaster angels. In the church is a memorial to Edward the Elder who founded Thelwall in 923. This is dated 1907 and is by Eric Gill.[5] The frame of the memorial is by F. C. Eden and Helfar Bros.[1] From around 1884 the organ used had been built by Gray and Davidson, and in 1964 it was rebuilt by Jardine.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2P6JHKB - Queen Elizabeth II Law Courts, in Derby Square, Liverpool, are operated by His Majesty's Courts and Tribunals Service. The building is used by the Crown Court, the Magistrates' Court, Liverpool District Probate Registry and the Liverpool Youth Court
Until the mid-1980s, all Crown Court cases were heard in St George's Hall. However, as the number of court cases in Liverpool grew, it became necessary to commission a more modern courthouse for both criminal and civil matters: the site selected by the Lord Chancellor's Department had been occupied by Liverpool Castle between the 13th and 18th century.
The new building was commissioned by the now-defunct Property Services Agency, who were seeking a design which expressed authority and power.[6] Construction of the new building started in 1973. It was designed by Farmer and Dark[8] in the brutalist style, built with vertically ribbed pre-cast concrete panels in dark, reddish tones, and was opened in 1984.
Hearings of the Liverpool Magistrates Court, which had been held at the courthouse in Dale Street, transferred to the Queen Elizabeth II Law Courts in 2015.[10]
The design features towers on the north and south sides which were intended to echo Liverpool Castle. Pollard and Pevsner describe the architecture as hulking and dispiriting, but richly sculptural. The front facade of the building features a four metres wide version of the Royal coat of arms. Cast in concrete, it was designed by British sculptor Richard Kindersley. The interior, which accommodates 28 court rooms on 10 storeys, contains strips of brown ceramic tiles in strips between the staircase tower windows

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2CW6MAC - Clydesdale Bank five pound note, a fiver, with pound and twenty pence coins, Scottish Sterling currency is a useful documentary subject because it fixes a recognisable place, object or activity in its real setting rather than presenting it as a staged illustration. Scottish banknotes and coins make a strong personal-finance subject, especially because Scottish sterling is legal currency but often misunderstood or questioned outside Scotland. The scene can illustrate cash use, regional banking, financial literacy, tourism, retail acceptance, cost-of-living stories and the continuing cultural identity carried by physical money. The location detail, Bank, strengthens searches for regional features, travel pages, local-history pieces and news use where a named place matters. Relevant editorial themes include Victorian bank, financial architecture, adaptive reuse, historic pub, cask ale, real ale, pint glass and brewery heritage, with each theme rooted in the visible subject, place or activity. It would suit newspaper, magazine, web, council, transport, heritage, housing, retail, travel or social-commentary use where a believable, unpolished view of real life is more valuable than a generic illustration.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy DDD6BT - Sign on grounds of HM Prison Thorn Cross YOI Young Offenders Institute, Appleton Thorn, Warrington, Cheshire, England, UK works as a grounded stock photograph because the subject is specific, legible and connected to wider social, economic or cultural themes. A sign at HMP Thorn Cross Young Offender Institution carries the blunt authority of the prison estate into a rural Cheshire setting, linking place, security and public institutions. The subject suits editorial coverage of youth custody, rehabilitation, prison reform, staffing, justice policy, rural prisons and the visibility of state power at the edge of ordinary communities. The location detail, Warrington, Appleton Thorn, strengthens searches for regional features, travel pages, local-history pieces and news use where a named place matters. Relevant editorial themes include signage, street sign, commercial sign and public notice, with each theme rooted in the visible subject, place or activity. The scene has practical value for features needing authentic British or international street-level evidence, especially where policy, culture, business, tourism or social change is easier to explain through one clear example.
