Introduction
The term scouse refers to Liverpool English. An inhabitant of Liverpool is a Liverpudlian or Scouse(r) The Scouse accent is well-know throughout Britain and the world mainly due to the Beatles and other Liverool pop groups and singers from the 60s. Nowadays, among some people it not considered to be among the nicest of English accents. Only the Birmingham accent is considered uglier. Scouse has a velarized or adenoidal quality that gives it a sound peculiar to this accent. Of course, for the people of Liverpool, Scouse is an integral part of their identity and well loved.
Vowels
Liverpool is a Northern accent and therefore the FOOT and STRUT words are both pronounced with a /??/. One of the most distinguishable characteristics of Liverpool English is the SQUARE diphthong . Compare Liverpool /??/ with RP /e?/. You can hear it when George Harrison pronounces the word declare in the song Taxman on the Revolver album. Words like book and cook are pronounced [bu?k, ku?k] instead of the RP /b??k, k??k/.
Consonants
Sometimes initial /?/ is pronounced as a [d?] just like in some varieties of American English. Words like ring and bring are pronounced /?g/, that is, with a final /g/ sound. Some stops are pronounced like affricates. For example, dad /dzad/, king /kx?g/. The /t/ in certain lexical items with a short preceding vowel such as matter, what, but, get may be realized as [?]. Examples: Get a job! [ge??d???b], what's the matter [w?ts??m????], what a day [w???dei]. This is generally limited to certain lexical items

Huge new mural of punk rock singer and guitarist Pete Shelley has appeared in Leigh, Greater Manchester
Created in tribute to the late punk rock icon, it sits in the heart of the community where he was born and grew up and still has family today.
Based on the cover of The Buzzcocks' 1978 single Ever Fallen In Love and a portrait of Shelley, created by artist Chris Gabrin in the same year, it's been designed by artists Malcolm Garrett and Akse P19.
The latter is well known in the city for his photo-realistic portraits of pop culture icons, and his work is often seen popping up in prime locations across Manchester.
Situated close to Leigh Town Hall and the historic Turnpike Centre, the new mural is Akse's biggest yet ? sitting smack bang in the heart of Leigh. Initiated by The Pete Shelley Memorial Campaign, it has taken over three years of fundraising in order to complete the project.
At a whopping 200 meters squared, it's not an easy one to miss if you're in the area and has taken around a week to complete ? with the finishing touches, including a final coat of protective varnish, being applied by the street artist this afternoon.
Whilst the artwork has been unfolding over the past week, locals have had some fun trying to guess who it might be ? with Akse posting a range of updates to his social media showing the piece at various stages of completion
Pete was always incredibly proud of his northern roots, and we hope that the mural will help Pete's legacy live on and inspire more young artists and musicians to break down barriers and follow their dreams

It seems probable that Callcott went on working on those reliefs until shortly before his death in 1925, when the rather more prestigious Henry Poole took over, to produce the relief work in the Small Saloon Bar. It is situated next to the River Thames, 11.0 miles south west of central London. Surbiton was formerly within the County of Surrey, but became part of Greater London in 1965 following the London Government Act 1963, together with many areas including neighbouring Kingston and Richmond.
Surbiton possesses a mixture of Art-Deco courts, more recent residential blocks and grand 19th century townhouses blending into a sea of semi-detached 20th century housing estates.
The present-day town came into existence after a plan to build a London-Southampton railway line through nearby Kingston was rejected by Kingston Council, who feared that it would be detrimental to the coaching trade. This resulted in the line being routed further south, through a cutting in the hill south of Surbiton. Surbiton railway station opened in 1838, and was originally named Kingston-upon-Railway. It was only renamed Surbiton to distinguish it from the new Kingston railway station on the Shepperton branch line, which opened on 1 January 1869. The present station has an art deco fa??ade.
As a result, Kingston is now on a branch line, whereas passengers from Surbiton (smaller in comparison) can reach London Waterloo in about 15 minutes on a fast direct service
as well as places further afield, including Portsmouth and Southampton.
It was once home to Surbiton Studios which were owned by Stoll Pictures, before the company shifted its main production to Cricklewood Studios.

On May 26, 2022, Spacey was charged by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) in the United Kingdom with four counts of sexual assault against three complainants. The first single (and a later re-issue) from the Eastbourne band Toploader. I think this really sums up 'The Meeting Place' , a sculpture by Paul Day. Its a 9 metre (29.53 feet) tall bronze statue in St Pancras railway station in London, surrounded by a frieze.
There are images from the history of the Tube and train: people queuing on platforms or travelling in carriages
soldiers departing for war and returning injured, and repair works following the 7 July 2005 London bombings. The work was the object of controversy when first erected, as one panel depicted a commuter falling into the path of a train driven by the Grim Reaper. Blondie is an American rock band, founded by singer Debbie Harry and guitarist Chris Stein. The band was a pioneer in the early American New Wave and punk scenes of the mid-1970s at CBGB's in New York.
Their first two albums contained strong elements of these genres, and although successful in the United Kingdom and Australia, Blondie was regarded as an underground band in the United States until the release of Parallel Lines in 1978. Over the next three years, the band achieved several hit singles and became noted for its eclectic mix of musical styles incorporating elements of disco, pop, rap, and reggae, while retaining a basic style as a New Wave band.
Blondie broke up after the release of their sixth studio album The Hunter in 1982. Debbie Harry continued to pursue a solo career with varied results after taking a few years off to care for partner Chris Stein, who was diagnosed with pemphigus, a rare autoimmune disease of the skin.
The band reformed in 1997, achieving renewed success and a number one single in the United Kingdom with 'Maria' in 1999. A free standing outside toilet / WC as would have been seen in the back yards of British terraced back to back housing. While tenements and closes were more prominent in Scotland, this was the typical english workers house loo.
this reminds me of my dads brother my uncle Arthur. When he moved his bathroom and toilet indoors he took pride in keeping his outdoor privy. Although it became rather proudly his white wine cellar in winter.
I once was on a health and safety course. There was a story about a man arriving to hospital with a fractured skull. When he came around apparently a toilet tank had collapsed on to him while on the toilet. Apparently he had pulled the chain and the bracket had collapsed.
When asked 'Why on earth did you do that', he replied 'Just to see what it felt like!'
...these people should get out more, life on the edge...mmmmnnn!
