The original village of Gamesley consisted of rows of cottages inhabited by workers at the local textile mills, and it remained largely undeveloped until the 1960s, when it underwent considerable change. It was chosen as the location of an overspill estate, built by Manchester City Council. This was in order to rehouse people from decaying inner city areas of Manchester. These housing areas were also built in other towns surrounding Manchester, such as nearby Hattersley on the outskirts of Hyde.
The Gamesley estate was built in 2 half's. The first houses were built by contractors Finnegans which were constructed with
flat felted roofs, pebble dash cladding ground floors and tile cladded first floors. Finnegans houses were equipped with warm air central heating which used gas as an energy source. The Finnegan side of the estate was known locally as the ˜gas side'. In the late 1980s the local authority renovated the Finnegan system built houses, the works included re-enveloping the external building with traditional bricks and mortar. The works also added apex roofing complete with roofing tiles.
The second half of the Gamesley estate was built a couple of years later by George Wimpey using the Wimpey no-fines house building method. The houses were constructed with full pebble dash finish and tiled apex roofing. The houses built by George Wimpey had a solid concrete ground floor which had electrical underfloor heating installed, the first floors of these houses were built with no heating. Due to electricity being the main energy source for heating, the George Wimpey side of Gamesley became known locally as the ˜electric side'.

The worker bee has long been a symbol of Manchester and of the city's hard-working past.
And while every other city in the north of England has a heritage built upon industry - there is a reason that the bee symbol is a part of Manchester's coat of arms which was given to the city in 1842.
In the 1800s Manchester was awash with textile mills that were commonly described as ˜hives of activity' and the workers inside them compared to bees.
˜Busy bee' is still a term associated with industriousness and hard work.
These days Manchester is a city mostly associated with a deep and rich pop culture and a musical history that has influenced artists all over the globe. Coincidentally, the former Sankeys nightclub in Ancoats is housed in the former Beehive Mill on Jersey Street.

You won't just find the bee on bins dotted around the city though. The bee can be seen on the clock face of the Palace Hotel, on the mosaic flooring at Manchester Town Hall and even above the arches of Links of London.
Furthermore, urban beekeeping even takes place on the roof of The Printworks , thus producing local honey.
Following the Manchester Arena bombing on May 22, 2017, the worker bee became a symbol of unity and defiance in the wake of the attack.
It has come to represent Manchester's indomitable spirit.
An image of 22 Manchester worker bees was emblazoned on a wall on the side of the Koffee Pot building in the heart of the Northern Quarter.

Space were Marseille's answer to Dusseldorfs Kraftwerk. A little softer, more french, more disco, but in the same vein. This hit single from the album of the same name only really came to my attentiona decade later after listening to too much New Order (can you do such a thing you may ask?).
Space was founded in 1977 by Didier Marouani (also known as Ecama), Roland Romanelli, and Jannick Top. The first three albums \u2014 Magic Fly, Deliverance and Just Blue \u2014 were an immediate success (they sold over 12 million records all over the world).
The album Magic Fly, which is widely considered to be their best work, was released in audio cd in 2001, 24 years after its original release. Although Didier Marouani left the band in 1979, the other two members Roland Romanelli and Jannick Top released in 1980 the album Deeper Zone under the name of Space. Then Space officially split up in 1981.
In early 1980s Marouani, with Janny Loseth of Titanic as lead vocalist, continued to perform and record under the titles of Didier Marouani &
Space, and Paris-France-Transit due to release lawsuits. The name 'spAce' was legally reacquired after some artistic copyright disputes around 1990, allowing musicians to re-release classic albums and give a European live cover tour in 1993.
The latest Space album was released in 2002. In the same year, the S Club Juniors made a remix to their single 'New Direction' featuring the backing track of 'Magic Fly'. The band's hit 'Magic Fly' as well as many other songs from the self-named album were remixed in 2003 by the Belgian dance music project Minimalistix.

Damselflies (suborder Zygoptera) are insects in the order Odonata. Damselflies are similar to dragonflies, but the adults can be differentiated by the fact that the wings of most damselflies are held along, and parallel to, the body when at rest.
Furthermore, the hindwing of the damselfly is essentially similar to the fore-wing, while the hind-wing of the dragonfly broadens near the base, caudal to the connecting point at the body. Damselflies are also usually smaller, weaker fliers than dragonflies, and their eyes are separated.
Interestingly, Damselflies undergo incomplete metamorphosis, with an aquatic nymph stage. The female lays eggs in water, sometimes in underwater vegetation, or high in trees in bromeliads and other water-filled cavities.
Nymphs are carnivorous, feeding on daphnia, mosquito larvae, and various other small aquatic organisms, using extendable jaws similar to those of the dragonfly nymph. The gills of damselfly nymphs are large and external, resembling three fins at the end of the abdomen.
After moulting several times, the winged adult emerges and eats flies, mosquitoes, and other small insects. Some of the larger tropical species are known to feed on spiders, hovering near the web and plucking the spider from its nest.

for the Azure Damselfly it is the other way around. The second segment of the thorax has a distinctive spot with a line below connecting to the third segment.
Another difference can be observed when inspecting the side of the thorax. The Common Blue Damselfly has only one small black stripe there, while all other blue damselflies have two.
During mating, the male clasps the female by her neck while she bends her body around to his reproductive organs “ this is called a mating wheel. The pair flies together over the water and eggs are laid within a suitable plant, just below the surface.
The eggs hatch and the larvae, called nymphs, live in the water and feed on small aquatic animals. Nymphs climb out of the water up a suitable stem to moult into damselflies.
