Bushmills is classified as a village (population 1,000?2,499) by the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA). On Census day (27 March 2011) there were 1,295 people living in Bushmills. Of these:

Places of interest
The village is best known as the location of the Old Bushmills Distillery. The distillery's products include the Bushmills Original and Black Bush blends, as well as the 10-, 12-, 16-, and 21-year-old Bushmills Single Malts. To celebrate the 400th anniversary of distilling starting in the area the distillery released a unique whiskey called the 1608 which included crystal malt. The distillery draws its water, not from the River Bush itself, but from a tributary known as Saint Columbs Rill.

Opened in 1972, it had been commissioned by the Greater London Council and designed in the Brutalist style by architect Ern? Goldfinger. The tower was planned to replace outdated social accommodation, and designed as a follow up to Goldfinger's earlier Balfron Tower in East London. It was the last major project he worked on, and featured various space-saving designs, along with a separate access tower containing a plant room.
High-rise apartments and Brutalist architecture were falling out of favour by the time the tower was completed, and it became a magnet for crime, vandalism, drug abuse and prostitution. Its fortunes gradually improved in the 1980s after the establishment of a residents' association. Security measures were put in place and a concierge was employed, which led to lower crime levels. By the 1990s, the tower had become a desirable place to live, and although it still contains predominantly social housing, demand for private flats has remained high. A local landmark, it has been Grade II* listed since 1998, and has retained its distinctive concrete facade as a result. A fire broke out in 2017, but the concrete structure meant damage was limited, unlike the nearby Grenfell Tower. Trellick Tower has featured on film and television several times.

The Bridgewater canal reach Stockton heath about 1772, the area around London Bridge and Thorn Marine developed over the next few years and became known as Stockton Quays, there was warehousing, an inn, toll house,Blacksmiths, stabling, barns, and bank riders cottages. one of these bank riders cottages became Thorn Marine.
A very successful packet boat service started up running from the London Bridge Inn to Manchester allowing the gentry to travel in style and comfort on the last part of there journey to Manchester, good were also shipped from the warehouse over the road, The boats were in them days pulled by horses, and unusually the horse for the packet boat were trotted along the towpath and were ridden by Bank riders who lived in what is now Thorn Marine.
The quays at thorn marine were also used by Caldwells to ship there tools spades, picks, etc for the gold rush in america and the First World War. The good were shipped to Liverpool where they were loaded onto sea going ships
During the First and second world wars the canal was also used to move munitions and men to Liverpool to be shipped across for the war effort.
Since we took over
We passed Thorn Marine in the spring of 1991 on our 25' Dawncraft Hammie on a two week trip around the Cheshire ring, we noticed it was looking a bit unloved and there was a for sale sign out side.
A few phone calls on our return home we discovered it was still for sale, but not with the agents anymore. After nearly 12 months of negotiations with the vendor and The Manchester ship Canal Company, we finally moved in on the 11th April 1992.
Over the next few years Margaret turned the business around from a fancy good shop back to a chandlery with help from Brian and Nigel when they were not working in their own careers. Brian decided in 1997 to stop paining and decorating and joined Margret working full time in the shop.

Description: Tony Smith image Flickr 3153739395 - 'Bridgwater is a large historic market town and civil parish in Somerset, England. Its population currently stands at around 35,886 as of 2011. Bridgwater is at the edge of the Somerset Levels, in level and well-wooded country. The town lies along both sides of the River Parrett, and has been a major in-land port and trading centre since the industrial revolution. Most of its industrial bases still stand today. Its larger neighbour Taunton, is linked to Bridgwater via a canal, the M5 motorway and the GWR railway line.
Historically, the town had a politically radical tendency. The Battle of Sedgemoor, where the Monmouth Rebellion was finally crushed in 1685, was fought nearby. Notable buildings include the Church of St Mary and the house in Blake Street, largely restored, which was the birthplace of Admiral Blake in 1598, and is now the Blake Museum. The town has an arts centre and plays host to the annual Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival.
The Corn Exchange and market house in Bridgwater, Somerset, England was built in 1834 by John Bowen and extended in 1875, by Charles Knowles. It has been designated as a Grade I listed building.
The original market hall, which dates from 1791, is fronted by a circular portico with a domed roof with Tuscan pillars.[2] The distinctive portico was added after the north and south sides of the corn market were demolished for road widening in 1825.
It was originally surrounded by railings to separate the livestock from the food produce. The railings were removed in 1895.
In front of the building is a statue of Robert Blake who was born in the town. The statue was made in 1898 by F. W. Pomeroy and has since been repositioned to face down Cornhill

Bridgwater War Memorial is a Grade II* listed war memorial located on King Square in Bridgwater, Somerset, England, on the site previously occupied by Bridgwater Castle. It was designed by John Angel in the mid-1920s. The green figure of the memorial is allegorical, representing 'Civilization as a seated female, holding a globe in one hand and with the book of knowledge on her lap.
John Angel sculpted the Angel of Bridgwater. Mounted on a plinth, a female figure of 'Civilisation' lofts the world, which is encircled by emblems of commerce and peace. Under her foot are the 'demons of war.' The throne and figure are backed by 'relief depictions of Labour, Home, Life and Education.' On her lap is a book of laws, and she is surrounded by children. Indeed, given its monumental breadth, the many details in the design, and its metaphorical and iconic form, the sculpture is subject to colorful and variant interpretations and description. The bronze was cast by W Morris Art Bronze Foundry.
At the time, Angel was working four years as assistant to Sir George Frampton, and Frampton's influence is apparent. Figures from the roughly contemporaneous Exeter War Memorial, specifically 'Peace' (also known as Victory) were exhibited by Angel at The Royal Academy in 1922, being exhibited in the courtyard of Burlington House, as were other studies of the Bridgwater War Memorial on several occasions.
On the third step these words are inscribed: 'IN HONOUR OF THE MEN OF BRIDGWATER WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918'
The memorial was unveiled by General the Earl of Cavan then Chief of the Imperial General Staff on 25 September 1924, to commemorate the fallen of World War I. Further names have been added following World War II, the Korean War. Falklands Conflict and the Afghan conflict. It has been characterised as, 'An exceptionally fine and moving memorial, which forms an important focal point to this fine late Georgian square.'
In 2009 the memorial benefited from a small stipend from War Memorials Trust, which was used to replace bronze plaques and add a new one. The new plaques are said to be a precise match in form and typeface for those that were replaced.

Following a tradition inaugurated by King George V in 1919, the day is also marked by war remembrances in many non-Commonwealth countries. Remembrance Day is observed on 11 November in most countries to recall the end of hostilities of World War I on that date in 1918. Hostilities formally ended 'at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month', in accordance with the armistice signed by representatives of Germany and the Entente between 5:12 and 5:20 that morning. ('At the 11th hour' refers to the passing of the 11th hour, or 11:00 am.) The First World War officially ended with the signing of the Treaty of Versailles on 28 June 1919.
The memorial evolved out of Armistice Day, which continues to be marked on the same date. The initial Armistice Day was observed at Buckingham Palace, commencing with King George V hosting a 'Banquet in Honour of the President of the French Republic' during the evening hours of 10 November 1919. The first official Armistice Day was subsequently held on the grounds of Buckingham Palace the following morning.
The red remembrance poppy has become a familiar emblem of Remembrance Day due to the poem 'In Flanders Fields' written by Canadian physician Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae. After reading the poem, Moina Michael, a professor at the University of Georgia, wrote the poem, 'We Shall Keep the Faith,' and swore to wear a red poppy on the anniversary. The custom spread to Europe and the countries of the British Empire and Commonwealth within three years.
Madame Anne E. Guerin tirelessly promoted the practice in Europe and the British Empire. In the UK Major George Howson fostered the cause with the support of General Haig. Poppies were worn for the first time at the 1921 anniversary ceremony. At first real poppies were worn. These poppies bloomed across some of the worst battlefields of Flanders in World War I

Typically, regions that use daylight saving time adjust clocks forward one hour close to the start of spring and adjust them backward in the autumn to standard time. In effect, DST causes a lost hour of sleep in the spring and an extra hour of sleep in the fall.
George Hudson proposed the idea of daylight saving in 1895. The German Empire and Austria-Hungary organized the first nationwide implementation, starting on April 30, 1916. Many countries have used it at various times since then, particularly since the energy crisis of the 1970s.
DST is generally not observed near the equator, where sunrise times do not vary enough to justify it. Some countries observe it only in some regions
for example, southern Brazil observes it while equatorial Brazil does not. Only a minority of the world's population uses DST, because Asia and Africa generally do not observe it.
The best type of wall clock to own, is this radio controlled one, which just sorts itself out for you. For the majority of other clocks all over the place, you just need to resign yourself to chewing through them as fast as you can, or have them just an hour wrong, over the next 6 months....

Sons, a Scottish iron and steel company, was founded in 1871 and it opened its Dalzell Steel and Iron Works at Motherwell in 1872. By the first World War, it was the largest steel works in Scotland and it continued to expanded afterwards taking over a number of other steel works in Cambuslang and Glengarnock.
Nationalised in 1951, it became part of the Iron and Steel Corporation of Great Britain. It was privatised in 1955 and the construction of Ravenscraig steelworks resulted in the closure of a number of its other works. It was renationalised in 1967, becoming part of British Steel Corporation.
Tata Steel closed the Dalzell and Clydebridge works in 2015, but both reopened in 2016 following the sale of the sites to Liberty House Group.

Description: Tony Smith image Flickr 4575424384 - 'Liverpool\u2019s Dream was a three-day outdoor performance art event featuring giant marionettes, that took place in Liverpool, England, from 5 to 7 October 2018.
The event attracted more than a million visitors to the city[1] and was, in part, a celebration of the 10th anniversary of Liverpool\u2019s year as European Capital of Culture in 2008. It was billed as being the last appearance of the giants and the final show of the \u2018Giants Trilogy\u2019 after Sea Odyssey and Memories of August 1914.
The performance was designed and performed by Royal de Luxe who are based in Nantes, France. The performance featured four giant marionettes. A little boy and girl giant, an adult giant and Xolo the dog.
The Little Boy Giant first appeared in a performance in Cameroon and was 6 m (20 ft) high and required 27 People to operate. The Giant Man was 10 m (33 ft) high and required 44 operators. The Little Girl Giant appeared in the previous two Liverpool giant events was not originally billed as being part of the performance but was revealed as a surprise on the Sunday afternoon.
Xolo the dog had appeared in the previous two Liverpool Giants performances. The Giants collectively covered a distance of 21 miles (34 km) across Liverpool and, for the first time in such an event across the river Mersey in New Brighton

Description: Tony Smith image Flickr 3086389016 - 'A pelican crossing (previously pelicon crossing, which stood for 'pedestrian light controlled crossing') is a type of pedestrian crossing, which features a pair of poles each with a standard set of traffic lights facing oncoming traffic, a push button and two illuminated, coloured pictograms facing the pedestrian from across the road.
These are a red, stationary person to indicate that it is not safe to cross, and a green, walking person to indicate that it is safe to do so. Pelican crossings also provide non-visual indication that it is safe to cross, such as a beep, vibrating button or tactile rotating cone in order to assist visually impaired pedestrians.
Usage of pelican crossings is confined mainly to the UK, where they were invented, and in Ireland.

The Manchester Pride Festival is an annual event held on the August bank holiday weekend. These might be more interesting than 1st time around, but then again they might not!
This first one is taken from a day long rowing event, the British Rowing Junior Championships 2018, held at the National Watersports Centre in Nottingham. My little fella is a cox in the junior 14 girls quad. Here are the junior 14 boys, in a new boat named as a tribute to local Warrington band Viola Beach. They were tragically killed in an accident on tour, around 2 years ago. All band members are named on the quad and the brother of guitarist River Reeves, Quin (second from the left), rows in his position.
Warrington Rowing Club J14's managed 5th overall among over 35 teams across the UK.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy P8DCT4 - The William Nuttall Cottage Homes are a good example of a planned development by a charitable benefactor, the sweet manufacturer William Nuttall. He set up a trust to provide 'cottage homes for aged spinsters' and the William Nuttall Trust purchased land in Bennetthorpe from the council on which to build these homes. The almshouses were erected in 1930, until then the area between Bennetthorpe and the racecourse had been relatively undeveloped.
The cottage homes were laid out in the pattern of traditional almshouses of standard size set in communal grounds. The buildings comprise a symmetrical group of 24 two storey homes at the centre of which is a linked terrace of eight dwellings around a central archway. To each side are four pairs of homes, each advancing forwards. The buildings are of red engineering brick with stone and concrete dressings and have either 'Rosemary' plain clay tile or Westmoreland slate roofs. The buildings are not identical but have common features and display typical detailing and materials of the inter-war period. The whole site was bounded by a low brick wall with a central vehicular access and symmetrical pedestrian side access.
The William Nuttall Cottage Homes development remains relatively unchanged and continues to have the use for which it was originally intended. Within the conservation area there are no listed structures but all the buildings are considered to be key unlisted buildings.

The Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE) has revealed a significant increase in houses planned for the Green Belt, and yet most of these houses will be unaffordable to those who need them.
Based on local and city-regional planning policies and new data from planning consultants Glenigan, CPRE's annual Green Belt Under Siege report shows that more than 70% of houses proposed for development are not expected to be ?affordable'. It also demonstrates that just 16% of houses built on Green Belt land since 2009 outside local plans were classed as ?affordable'.
In total, 425,000 houses are now planned for Green Belt land. This is an increase of 54% on March 2016, and the biggest year-on-year increase in building proposed in the Green Belt for two decades. Green Belt in the North West, West Midlands and South East is under particular pressure.

Jellicoe was born in Chailey, Sussex. A graduate of Magdalen College Oxford, he was ordained as an Anglican priest and became missioner at the Magdalen Mission in Somers Town, London. He was founder of the St Pancras Housing Association (originally the St Pancras House Improvement Society) and several other housing associations in London, Sussex and Cornwall. He toured the country in his small car fundraising and selling loan stock to fund these projects. His father, Thomas Harry Lee Jellicoe, rector of St Peter's Chailey, was a cousin of John Jellicoe, 1st Earl Jellicoe.
Jellicoe died in Uxbridge on 24 August 1935. A blue plaque was unveiled in his honour in Camden in 2014. He is commemorated in the Diocese of London with a memorial day on 24 August

By the 1970s other Chinese businesses began to emerge, such as medicine shops, Chinese supermarkets, as well as financial and legal services, all serving the employees of the expanding number of Chinese restaurants in the area. There was even a Hong Kong government office and a branch of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation during the 1970s. In 1989 the Chinese Arts Centre opened in Chinatown. In 2013 the Bank of East Asia opted to open their first Manchester branch in Chinatown, situated on Charlotte Street. The branch officially opened on 25 October 2013, in a ceremony attended by the Lord Mayor of Manchester.

They meet throughout the year mainly to have a brew and chat about life in general, to meet and make new friends, and for those who require extra support, to help by signposting to relevant services in Warrington. We also at times hold activities such as bowling, theatre trips, quizzes and games.

Squier had a string of arena rock hits in the 1980s. He is best known for the song 'The Stroke' on his 1981 album release Don't Say No. Other hits include 'In the Dark', 'Rock Me Tonite', 'Lonely Is the Night', 'My Kinda Lover', 'Everybody Wants You', 'All Night Long' and 'Emotions in Motion'.
Billy Squier's first public performances were at a Boston nightclub in Kenmore Square called the Psychedelic Supermarket in 1968, which is where he saw Eric Clapton and the band Cream. Squier's first original effort was with the band Magic Terry &
The Universe in 1969. In the early 1970s, he formed Kicks, which included future NY Dolls drummer Jerry Nolan.
He then joined The Sidewinders. Squier left the group to form the band Piper in 1976, which released two albums, Piper and Can't Wait, but left soon after. Upon reviewing the debut Piper, Circus Magazine touted it as the greatest debut album ever produced by an American rock band. Piper was managed by the same management company as KISS, and opened for KISS during their 1977 tour, including two nights of a sold-out run at New York's Madison Square Garden.
He reached his peak in the 1980's however, Squier was the opening act for the North American leg of Queen's 1982 Hot Space Tour. That same year he recorded a song, 'Fast Times (The Best Years of Our Lives)' for the film Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
In the early 1980s Squier did several headlining arena tours\u2014most notably with Foreigner and The Who with a backup band that included Jeff Golub on guitar, Bobby Chouinard on drums, Alan St. Jon on keyboards and Doug Lubahn on bass. Squier brought Def Leppard to America and broke them on the Emotions tour, in conjunction with the release of their 'Pyromania' LP.
Queens Park is a suburb of Chester. It is in the south of the city, just east of Handbridge. It includes a secondary school, Queens Park High School and also has a pedestrian suspension bridge link with the main city.

This is one of the best tracks from 'Electric' the pivotal third album by The Cult. Released in 1987, the album marked a deliberate stylistic change in the band from a Gothic rock to a hard rock band. Rick Rubin, the producer on Electric, had been specifically hired to remake the band's sound in an effort to capitalize on the popularity of hard rock and heavy metal in the 1980s.
After the breakthrough success of their second album, Love, the Cult began working on a follow-up with producer Steve Brown. In the summer of 1986, they recorded twelve tracks at the Manor Studio in Oxfordshire. These recordings, which came to be known as the Manor Sessions, were to make up a new album, tentatively entitled Peace. However, upon completion of the recording sessions, the band decided that they were unhappy with the sound, and began to look for a new producer.
The band went on to choose Rick Rubin, who was known for producing albums for hip hop artists and thrash metal band Slayer. These new recordings, with a slightly different track-list and running order, became the album that was released.
Although all twelve of the Manor Sessions tracks were initially scrapped, four of them would turn up as B-sides to singles from Electric. A further five of them appeared on a limited edition EP, and with the release of Rare Cult in 2000, the rest of the unreleased Steve Brown-produced tracks were made available.

Nine (\u4e5d pinyin ji\u01d4) is considered a good number in Chinese culture because it sounds the same as the word 'longlasting'. Indeed, cats are often believed to have 9 lives.
The nine muses in Greek mythology are Calliope (epic poetry), Clio (history), Erato (erotic poetry), Euterpe (lyric poetry), Melpomene (tragedy), Polyhymnia (song), Terpsichore (dance), Thalia (comedy), and Urania (astronomy).
In the NATO phonetic alphabet, the digit 9 is called 'Novenine'.
Nine was also the true number of dwarves, before 'Farty' and 'Pervy' were airbrushed out by Disney in the late 1950's.
Someone dressed 'to the nines' is dressed up as much as they can be.

The band formed in 1976 in London and Vanian is the only ever-present member of the group. They were the first of the British punk bands to release a single, an album, have a record hit the UK charts, and tour the United States.
Lett changed his name to Dave Vanian (pronounced as in 'Transylvanian') when he became a musician, having previously worked as a gravedigger.
He was one of the early influencers of gothic fashion by wearing dark and otherworldly clothing both on-stage and off. In November 1976, the British music magazine, NME, commented that Vanian 'resembles a runaway from The Addams Family'.
This was a cracking gig at The Parr Hall in Warrington 5th May 2012.

The Motels are a New Wave music band from the Los Angeles area best known for 'Only the Lonely' and 'Suddenly Last Summer', each of which peaked at number nine on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1982 and 1983, respectively. Their song 'Total Control' reached no 4 on the Australian charts in 1980. Martha Davis (born January 19, 1951), the lead singer, reformed a version of the band called 'The Motels featuring Martha Davis' in 1998
as of 2010 she continues to appear under that name with various line-ups of musicians.
In March 1978, Davis and lead guitarist Jeff Jourard (formerly of a pre-fame version of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers) decided to reform his early 70's band, The Motels. Extensive auditions resulted in a new line-up of the band being formed, consisting of Jourard's brother Marty, who played both the saxophone and keyboards, Michael Goodroe on bass, and Brian Glascock on drums. Short on funds, the band shared rehearsal space with The Go-Go's at L.A.'s notorious punk basement, The Masque, and they played in Chinatown, at Madame Wong's restaurant/nightclub with such regularity that they were almost considered the house band.
The Motels began to draw faithful crowds around the L.A. music scene and on Mother's Day 1979 the group signed with Capitol Records, releasing their debut album The Motels four months later. Their first single, 'Closets and Bullets', made no impact on the charts, but their second single release, 'Total Control', found its way to the Top 20 in France and the Top 10 in Australia.
In 1980 Jourard was replaced as lead guitarist by Davis' boyfriend Tim McGovern and the band went back into the recording studio to record their second album, Careful. Released in June 1980, the album climbed to the no 45 spot on the Billboard 200 chart in the U.S. In Europe and the UK, the songs 'Days Are OK' and 'Whose Problem?' became Top 50 hits
'Whose Problem?' was also a top hit in Australia and 'Danger' was a Top 20 hit in France.
The band hired record producer Val Garay for their third album, Apocalypso. It was scheduled to be released in November 1981, but after Capitol Records heard the final product, they rejected it for being 'not commercial enough' and 'too weird'. The band attempted to go back and re-record the entire album but in the process, Davis and McGovern's relationship dissolved and by December 1981 McGovern was no longer in the band (McGovern subsequently formed the band Burning Sensations).
The rest of the band members forged on to finish recording the new album, utilizing studio musicians to fill in for McGovern on several of the tracks. Adrian Peritore (who went by the name Guy Perry because his former producer had misspelled his name on an album cover) was hired in late January and played lead guitar on some of the tracks, including 'He Hit Me'. The album was released on April 5, 1982 under the title All Four One.

Jones had begun writing songs and recording home demos as part of an experimental theatre group in Sheffield. A collection of these demos, I Was Born a Man, was released in July 1995, under the name Babybird. He recruited a band made up of Huw Chadbourn (keyboards), Robert Gregory (drums), John Pedder (bass) and Luke Scott (guitar), in order to tour and promote his work.
During 1995, two further albums of demo recordings were released under the name Babybird (Bad Shave and Fatherhood) and two in 1996 (The Happiest Man Alive and Dying Happy). Babybird were signed to Echo Records (a division of the Chrysalis Group), and the first authentic single, a full-band recording of 'Goodnight', which had appeared in demo form on Fatherhood, was released in July 1996, becoming a minor hit in the UK Singles Chart. The group's second single, 'You're Gorgeous', reached number 3 in the UK in October 1996, and was one of the biggest selling singles of the year, going on to chart around the world.
Stephen can laugh about it on tour, but 'You're Gorgeous' set a difficult precident to follow. It hurts so much that it rarely gets played nowadays, more a millstone around his and Babybirds neck. Arguably, the commercial sound and success of 'You're Gorgeous', which received massive exposure by comparison, made it hard for many to take Jones seriously as an indie artist. Essentially, what he was best at was no longer what he was best known for, after it.
Stephen Jones has produced two works of fiction, The Bad Book in 2000 and Harry and Ida Swop Teeth (also the title of a Babybird b-side) in 2003. He also collaborated with DED Associates, who have designed many of his CD covers, on a 2000 art book Travel Sickness.

'Cherry Bomb' is a 1976 punk-influenced hard rock song by the all-girl band The Runaways off of their self-titled debut album. It is widely regarded by many as the band's signature song. 'Cherry Bomb' was also ranked 52nd on VH1's 100 Greatest Hard Rock Songs.
Singer/guitarist Joan Jett composed the song with the band's then-manager, Kim Fowley, and would later go on to re-record it with her band the Blackhearts for the 1984 album Glorious Results of a Misspent Youth.
The Runaways' version of the song was used in the cult classic film Dazed and Confused, and was featured on its soundtrack album. It can also be heard as a partial cover song by JoJo in the movie RV and was covered by Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart, who played Runaways frontwoman Cherie Currie and Joan Jett, for the 2010 biopic film The Runaways.
The song has been re-recorded by Jett and Currie to be featured in the video game Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock as a playable song.

I last saw Magazine at the Manchester Academy 1 on valentines day 2009, much to the consternation of 'er indoors. Since then they have recorded a new album on record label Wire Sound. 'No Thyself' is the first for three decades. Legendary bass player Barry Adamson left to concentrate on his film work and solo recordings. Jon 'Stan' White has taken over his bass.
The procedings started with some placards from Howard 'You Do The Meaning' (which is a track from the new album) and 'Fly Away To The World' after a Japanese kabuki intro. The old favourite 'Definitive Gaze' is first up. The sound mix seemed shaky at first, poor sound is said to have dogged a few opening gigs. Howards vocals seemed by the middle of definitive gaze.
Once introduced as Magazine version 6.0 service pack 1, they ploughed into 'Give Me Everything'. The excitement and the pogo-ing (yes, old men too..) started.

'Sheena Is a Punk Rocker' is a song by the punk rock group The Ramones. It first appeared on their third LP, 'Rocket to Russia', in 1977, and was also included on later pressings of the group's second album, 'Leave Home'. It was released as a single, reaching no 81 in the US, and no 22 in the UK singles charts, backed with 'I Don't Care', which was also included on Rocket to Russia. I have a battered copy in my loft somewhere.
The song was written by Joey Ramone, and is one of the Ramones' more popular and enduring songs, showing the band's surf rock influences.
The Ramones were an American rock band that formed in Forest Hills, Queens, New York in 1974. they have been cited as the first punk rock group. Despite achieving only limited commercial success, the band was a major influence on the punk rock movement both in the United States and the United Kingdom.
All of the band members adopted pseudonyms ending with the surname 'Ramone', though none of them were related. They performed 2,263 concerts, touring virtually nonstop for 22 years.
In 1996, after a tour with the Lollapalooza music festival, the band played a farewell concert and disbanded. By a little more than eight years after the breakup, the band's three founding members\u2014lead singer Joey Ramone, guitarist Johnny Ramone, and bassist Dee Dee Ramone\u2014had died.

It was a sad day in 1986 when Phil was no more. Still he wont have to do X-Factor or Eurovision, he is preserved in aspic.
Lynott was born in Hallam Hospital (now Sandwell General Hospital) in West Bromwich (then in Staffordshire), England, and christened at St. Edwards Church in Selly Park, Birmingham. His mother pictured here, Philomena (or Phyllis) Lynott (b. 22 October 1930), is Irish, and his father was Cecil Parris, an Afro-Guyanese
Lynott's mother met Parris in Birmingham in 1948, and they saw each other for a few months until Parris was transferred to London. Shortly afterwards, Philomena found she was pregnant, and after Philip was born, she moved with her baby to a home for unmarried mothers in Selly Oak, Birmingham. When Parris learned of Philip's birth, he returned to Birmingham and arranged accommodation for Philomena and Philip in the Blackheath area of the city.
Her relationship with Parris lasted two more years although he was still working in London and they did not live together. Philomena subsequently moved to Whalley Range in Manchester, but stayed in touch with Parris, and although she turned down a marriage proposal from him, he agreed to pay towards his son's support.
Philomena finally spoke of all her children, Phils siblings in July 2010, nearly twenty-five years after Philip's death. The Irish Mail on Sunday and Irish Daily Mail ran a twelve page interview with her over three days. She revealed that her three children all had different fathers, and that her daughter was white. She had met her now-grown children, but they had never met their brother Philip. He knew he had a sister, but never knew he had a brother.Lynott did not see his father again until the late 1970s.
It was said of Phil that when out of Ireland he described himself as Irish. when in Ireland he was from Dublin. When in Dublin he said he was from Crumlin. He has a recently erected statue near Grafton St. He is an artist of which Ireland should be justly proud.

This is the first track from one of my favourite albums, the stunning debut 'Real Life', rightfully acclaimed as one of the greatest LP's of all time. The Guardian had this to say: 'Released in April 78, Magazine's debut was the first post-punk album. And Howard Devoto was the first post-punk anti-star, with his cryptic lyrics and anxious-young-man persona. Real Life had punk energy and art-rock ambition, with complex song structures and sophisticated musicianship.'
The band was formed by Howard Devoto after leaving Manchester punk band Buzzcocks in early 1977, deciding to create a more experimental and less punk band who later influenced many musicians. Magazine reunited for a tour through Britain in February 2009, with almost all the most remaining and 'classic' line-up during their brief time, with the exception of guitarist John McGeoch (who died in 2004 and was replaced by Noko, who had played with Devoto in Luxuria).
Early work followed punk stylings. The first single 'Shot By Both Sides', the chorus of which shared the same progression as Buzzcocks' 'Lipstick,' fractionally missed the UK Top 40. Its cover was an early example of the goth influence in punk. The band, with the recently recruited Dave Formula on keyboards, made its first major TV appearance on Top Of The Pops in February 1978, performing the single.
In 1979 Magazine's second album, 'Secondhand Daylight' was released, reaching the UK Top 40. The record features more experimental, synthesizer-based material. That same year, McGeoch, Adamson and Formula joined electronic project Visage, recording and releasing the single 'Tar'.
For the 'Correct Use of Soap', Devoto decided to change producer, choosing twisted genius Martin Hannett. The album made the Top 30. Following its release McGeoch decided to leave the band, tired of Magazine's low sales and their less guitar-oriented songs, joining Siouxsie and the Banshees.
To replace him the band called Robin Simon, who previously was in Ultravox.
After over 25 years a reunion was planned. The sold out shows received widespread critical acclaim, together with festivals in the UK and abroad over summer. In January 2010 Noko officially joined the band, becoming a full member of Magazine.

So often drummers are not given the recognition they deserve. Tucked away at the back of the stage. I try to take at least a few shots of drummers in each band I take, not always possible with good results!

Me and the Gang Of Four go way back to listening to the late great John Peel 10pm til midnight 1978. They were the thinking mans punk band, playing politically motivated rock &
dub, gloriously mixed up.
The Gang's debut single, 'Damaged Goods' backed with '(Love Like) Anthrax' and 'Armalite Rifle', was recorded in June 1978 and released on 10 December 1978, on Edinburgh's Fast Product label. I still have one in my loft.
It was produced by the Gang of Four and Bob Last and Tim Inman. It was a Number 1 indie chart hit and John Peel radio show favourite. This led to two Peel radio sessions, which, with their incendiary live performances, propelled the band to international attention and sold-out shows across Europe and North America. They were then signed by EMI records.
The group's debut single with this label, 'At Home He's a Tourist', charted in 1979. Invited to appear on top rated BBC music program Top of the Pops, the band walked off the show when the BBC told them that they must sing 'packets' instead of 'rubbers' as per the lyrics of the song, as the original was too subversive for this TV slot. The single was then banned by BBC Radio and TV, which lost the band support at EMI, who began to push another band, Duran Duran, instead. A later single, 'I Love a Man in a Uniform', was banned by the BBC during the Falklands War in 1982.
Fast forward 30 years &
Britain is again in the grip of coalition government &
flaccid opposition. The perfect time to re-emerge.
In January 2011, the band released a new album, Content, which was very well received. Andrew Perry, writing in Britain's Telegraph newspaper, gave it (21 January 2011) a 5-star rating and said that it was 'their best record since the Seventies', an opinion with which I agree.
Jon Pareles, awarding the album 4 stars in a New York Times review of 25 January 2011, declared that [the band] 'have reclaimed, with a vengeance, their old attack', Dan Wilcox of KCRW (17 January 2011) said [of Content]: 'Entertaining, scintillating and dangerous, the band has lost none of its explosive edge over the years.'
In his Pitchfork review of the album, January 26, 2011 Stuart Berman wrote 'If Gang of Four's 2005 reformation proved they could more than hold their own against the upstarts, then Content shows that their chief concerns \u2013 the financial and psychological toll of keeping up with the Joneses \u2013 resonate all the more loudly in an Internet-accelerated era where even those on the vanguard can feel behind the times, and where the lawless, anonymous nature of online exchange threatens to overwhelm our identities. It's thus fitting that the album's most exuberant moment \u2013 the muscular Motown stomp 'Who Am I?' \u2013 is used to soundtrack a modern-day anarchist's existential crisis: 'You can't steal when everything is free'.
'Content' was one of my fave 3 albums of that year, gave me better time-travel than a tardis!

Lecarla are simply the turbo-charged 21st century version of Girlschool from Hemel Hempstead. The band are Lead Singer Lizzy Dent, Lead Guitarist Hannah the Whitmarsh, Guitarist Joe Alfano, Bassist Nikki Brightman and Drummer Steve North.
They have done support slots with my recent faves 'Towers Of London' so this gig was unmissible for me. Well worth the excursion out. I was shouting for more (not like reserved little me :-)

A track from the late great Phil Lynott. I heard this live finishing up a set at the Manchester Apollo in 1979 I think, December time.
The band often used to finish up with this track in celebration of a guy called Ted Carroll. He had brought the band to London from Dublin in the early 70's and he ran a Saturday record stall called 'Rock On' on Golborne Road, Off Ladbroke Grove market.
Carroll was involved with early Chiswick label artists and the founders of Stiff records (motto 'If it aint Stiff, it aint worth a f**k). Thus was instrumental in producing and pressing a great many of the 70's vinyls in my loft. He never was involved in a Thin Lizzy release however, Decca and Phongram were the bands labels, with the former involved with the band releasing an album of Deep Purple covers.
Thin Lizzy's leader, Lynott was composer or co-composer of almost all their songs. He was one of the few black men to achieve commercial success in hard rock, and was certainly the first black Irishman to do so. As well as being multiracial, the band drew their members not only from both sides of the Irish border but also from both the Catholic and Protestant communities.
For a great introduction to Thin Lizzy, the live album 'Live and Dangerous' is your only option. There is some disagreement over just how much of the album is actually recorded live. Producer Tony Visconti claimed that the only parts that weren't overdubbed were the drums and the audience. However Brian Robertson has refuted this, saying that he had refused Lynott's request to re-record a guitar solo, and that the only overdubs were backing vocals and some guitar parts by Gorham. He added, 'It's just not true. The only reason we said that it was recorded all over was obviously for tax reasons... so everything that Visconti claims is boll**ks.

The Fender Cyclone was a series of electric guitars made by Fender. Introduced in late 1997, the Cyclone body is similarly styled to the Mustang but with a significantly different specification. The body of the Cyclone is a quarter of an inch thicker than the body of a Mustang and is made of poplar, whereas contemporary Mustang reissues were made of basswood.
The Fender Cyclone was discontinued in 2007.

The Government has made recent changes to individual landlord's tax relief. Since April 2020 buy-to-let landlords have had to pay income tax on the entire rental income, regardless of how much is taken by mortgage interest. Instead, this has been replaced with a 20% tax credit, meaning private landlords with a mortgage can no longer offset mortgage interest costs in full against income tax bills on rent.
As a result, landlords now pay tax on rental income based on revenue rather than their profit after mortgage interest is paid. For those of you thinking of setting up a limited company, you'll be glad to know that mortgage interest is treated as a business expense. That means if your property is owned by a limited company, you can minus the cost before paying corporation tax. Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2K1P047 - Gamesley is a residential area within the Borough of High Peak in Derbyshire, England, west of Glossop and close to the River Etherow which forms the boundary with Tameside in Greater Manchester. Gamesley is a ward of the High Peak Borough Council. It had a population of 2,531 at the 2011 Census
The original village of Gamesley consisted of rows of cottages inhabited by workers at the local textile mills, and it remained largely undeveloped until the 1960s, when it underwent considerable change. It was chosen as the location of an overspill estate, built by Manchester City Council. This was in order to rehouse people from decaying inner city areas of Manchester. These housing areas were also built in other towns surrounding Manchester, such as nearby Hattersley on the outskirts of Hyde.
The Gamesley estate was built in 2 half's. The first houses were built by contractors Finnegans which were constructed with
flat felted roofs, pebble dash cladding ground floors and tile cladded first floors. Finnegans houses were equipped with warm air central heating which used gas as an energy source. The Finnegan side of the estate was known locally as the ?gas side'. In the late 1980s the local authority renovated the Finnegan system built houses, the works included re-enveloping the external building with traditional bricks and mortar. The works also added apex roofing complete with roofing tiles.
The second half of the Gamesley estate was built a couple of years later by George Wimpey using the Wimpey no-fines house building method. The houses were constructed with full pebble dash finish and tiled apex roofing. The houses built by George Wimpey had a solid concrete ground floor which had electrical underfloor heating installed, the first floors of these houses were built with no heating. Due to electricity being the main energy source for heating, the George Wimpey side of Gamesley became known locally as the ?electric side'.

It is one of London's oldest and largest housing associations with over 100,000 homes across London and the home counties. The Trust was founded in 1862 by London-based American banker George Peabody, who in the 1850s had developed a great affection for London, and determined to make a charitable gift to benefit it. His initial ideas included a system of drinking fountains
The Peabody Trust was later constituted by Act of Parliament, stipulating its objectives to work solely within London for the relief of poverty. This was to be expressed through the provision of model dwellings for the capital's poor.

The first block, designed by H. A. Darbishire in a red-brick Jacobethan style, opened in Commercial Street, Spitalfields, on 29 February 1864. It cost ?22,000 to build, and contained 57 dwellings (i.e. flats) for the poor, nine shops with accommodation for the shopkeepers, and baths and laundry facilities on the upper floor. Water-closets were grouped in pairs by the staircases, with one shared between every two flats. This first block was followed by larger estates in Islington, Poplar, Shadwell, Chelsea, Westminster, Bermondsey, and elsewhere. By 1882 the Trust housed more than 14,600 people in 3,500 dwellings. By 1939 it owned more than 8,000 dwellings.
