This is achieved by not only sourcing ingredients from the Prison Estate but also by employing people with convictions in the manufacture, sales and distribution of the pasties whilst simultaneously offering peer mentoring support to enable them to build new careers and live a life free of crime.

It all started when it was realised that Victoria Primary School in Newhaven on the northern outskirts of Edinburgh needed to expand and the decision was taken to build a new school.
Now we're almost three years down the line and the dream of converting the site containing the Victorian building into a brand new intergenerational centre for the whole community to enjoy, is nearing completion.
We've consulted with the community to find out what they want.

We've passed the Community Asset Transfer test with Edinburgh City Council and been given permission to purchase the site. The Scottish Land fund have given us the Funds to buy the building.
NEWHAVEN IS A COMMUNITY WITH A HEART
Pulsating with energy is Victoria Primary School, full of children who in 2022 moved across Lindsay Road to a new site to pursue dreams for the future.
This iconic building and its annexe deserve be an asset for the whole community of Newhaven “young and old, long-time residents and those newly moved here: everybody who wants to have a place to enjoy activities that can't yet find a space in Newhaven.
Newhaven has a distinct identity.
Its rapidly increasing population and range of activities is crying out for a focal point to express our sense of community life, especially to help those in greatest need of care and well-being.
The Heart of Newhaven was chosen as a name for the proposed centre, and the campaign to keep this building for the community, because:
it is in the centre of 'Greater Newhaven' (old and new combined)
because a community space for everyone is what keeps the community heart in Newhaven for the future.

Eggcup stops surplus food from going to waste and gets it to people instead. Our low-cost, weekly food scheme helps our members to save money on food, and that makes life more affordable for those in our community on a tight budget.
We have two Community Food Outlets for our members, one in Lancaster and one in the West End of Morecambe. We have a professional 5* food warehouse at our Lancaster base.
Most of the work in our warehouse and outlets is done by volunteers who want to contribute to building a stronger community and making good use of surplus food.
Some of our volunteers are members “ we're all pulling together! We also run a low-cost Buying Cooperative, where we pool our collective buying power to get great discounts. The Buying Cooperative is for Eggcup members and for other community food organisations across the district.

It was founded in 1964, in Hope Hall (once a chapel, then a cinema), in an area of Liverpool noted for its bohemian environment and political edge, and quickly built a reputation for ground-breaking work. The Everyman was completely rebuilt between 2011 and 2014
The building was constructed as Hope Hall, a dissenters' chapel built in 1837. In 1841 it became a church dedicated to Saint John the Evangelist. This became a public concert hall in 1853. In 1912 the hall was turned into Hope Hall Cinema, which continued serving this purpose until it closed in 1963. Prior to its closure the hall had become a meeting place for local artists, poets, folk musicians, and sculptors, including Arthur Dooley, Roger McGough, and Adrian Henri, forming what became known as the Liverpool Scene. This group decided that the building would be suitable for use as a theatre and in September 1964 the Everyman Theatre was opened by Martin Jenkins, Peter James and Terry Hands
In July 2011 the theatre closed to be completely rebuilt. The last major production was Macbeth, starring David Morrissey and Julia Ford, which closed on 11 June. This was followed by performances from Roger McGough and Brian Patten, and by the local pop band Deaf School. The final closure event took place on 2 July. From 28 July contents of the theatre, including seats and benches from the theatre, and pillars from the original Hope Hall, were available for purchase by auction.
The Everyman reopened in February 2014.[8] In October 2014, the Stirling Prize from the Royal Institute of British Architects for the best British building of the year was awarded to Haworth Tompkins for their work on the new Everyman

On weeknights one could find pieces of sets in construction or the actors in rehearsal, in the knowledge that the set had to be erected on a stage on a Monday night, and the play dress-rehearsed on the Tuesday.
That stage was at St. Michael's Hall in Shaw Street, and it was to be the group's platform for three and a half years. Four hundred Wiganers were now members and the financial success of the productions in following months, together with monies raised by private efforts, enabled the pioneers to plunge.
While the reign at St. Michael's was blooming, the committee had taken an option on the derelict cinema, which is now our theatre, and the sojourn at 56a ended, for all rehearsals and preparation could now be held in the equally spare surroundings of the Alliance. This was in 1946, and it was a condition of the building license for its conversion, that as many jobs as could be done by amateur labour should be. Expert advice duly delegated to eager novices directed the stripping of plaster and pickaxing of underground passageways each evening, while by day the joiners and plasterers spread their masking finishes
The final weeks of preparation were frenzied. By February 1948, productions had raised £850, interest free loans had been encouraged to the tune of £820, members' private efforts had brought in £1,450 and the scheme by which our supporters endowed seats in the theatre at £5 each had produced £500.
In all, when the theatre opened, £3,500 had been raised to cover the deposit on the building and necessary alterations amounting to £2,500. This was followed by a generous interest free loan of £4,000 by Mr. F. T. Hanson, which put the theatre on a solid footing.

The earliest Lodges were often named after the building where the meetings took place, which not surprisingly would have been an Inn or Tavern. Alternatively, from place or family names. The latter being the case here in Glossop. Initially taking its name from the family of the Duke of Devonshire and recently changed to Glossopdale Lodge following a restructure in 2017.
Over time, Lodges were formed and Lodges were disbanded. The oldest surviving Lodge in Derbyshire is Tyrian Lodge â„– 253, being established in 1785. The Province of Derbyshire was designated, largely observing the County boundary, in 1789. As the number of subscribing members grew, new (daughter) Lodges opened, including our Lodge in Glossop in 1853. We are the fourth oldest surviving Lodge in Derbyshire. The Lodge originally met at the Globe Inn, High Street West, moving in 1857 to the Norfolk Arms.

In 1979, a small group of gay men in San Francisco began wearing the attire of Catholic nuns in visible situations using camp to promote various social and political causes in the Castro District.
From the original organization in San Francisco, the Sisters have grown throughout the U.S., Canada, Australia, Europe, and South America, and are now an international network of autonomous orders. These orders are mostly registered as non-profit charity organizations that raise money for AIDS, LGBT-related causes, and mainstream community service organizations, while promoting safer sex and educating others about the harmful effects of drug use and other high risk behaviors. Description: Tony Smith image Alamy P8DCT4 - The William Nuttall Cottage Homes are a good example of a planned development by a charitable benefactor, the sweet manufacturer William Nuttall. He set up a trust to provide 'cottage homes for aged spinsters' and the William Nuttall Trust purchased land in Bennetthorpe from the council on which to build these homes. The almshouses were erected in 1930, until then the area between Bennetthorpe and the racecourse had been relatively undeveloped.
The cottage homes were laid out in the pattern of traditional almshouses of standard size set in communal grounds. The buildings comprise a symmetrical group of 24 two storey homes at the centre of which is a linked terrace of eight dwellings around a central archway. To each side are four pairs of homes, each advancing forwards. The buildings are of red engineering brick with stone and concrete dressings and have either 'Rosemary' plain clay tile or Westmoreland slate roofs. The buildings are not identical but have common features and display typical detailing and materials of the inter-war period. The whole site was bounded by a low brick wall with a central vehicular access and symmetrical pedestrian side access.
The William Nuttall Cottage Homes development remains relatively unchanged and continues to have the use for which it was originally intended. Within the conservation area there are no listed structures but all the buildings are considered to be key unlisted buildings.

A registered charity, volunteers now run the facility which has been renamed 'Grappenhall Community Library'.

Description: Tony Smith image Flickr 4639706870 - 'This fallow deer buck had just been disturbed from grazing at Dunham Massey. Only the males have antlers. A significant number of the fallow in the Forest of Dean and in Epping Forest are of the black variety, very unlike this one, the general norm. One particularly interesting population is that based in the Mortimer Forest on the English/Welsh border where a significant part of the population have long hair with distinct ear tufts and longer body hair.
Dunham Park covers an area of nearly 193 acres. It's part of the Dunham Park Estate, run by the National Trust (NT). The park is mostly \u201cpasture-woodland or park-woodland\u201d and has been since the Middle Ages.
Many of the oak trees, which make up the larger part of the woodland, date back to the 17th century. Dunham Park is the only place in the northwest of England with such a concentration of old trees, and one of only a few remaining in England, making it a site of national importance. The park supports a range of animals, including fallow deer like this one and over 500 species of insect.
Dunham Massey has many grade II listed buildings. Among the most striking is the 18th century sandstone obelisk at the end of the north vista from Dunham Massey Hall, close to where this image was taken. Tradition has it that it marks the burial site of a race horse.
There are a number of other listed structures close by in the grounds of Dunham Massey Hall, including the 1720 wellhouse that supplied water to the hall until the 1860s, and the early 18th century ornamental sundial in front of the hall, depicting a black slave clad in leaves, carrying the sundial above his head. A bit of a throwback to a less enlightened age.

It specialises in selling artisanal food, and does not offer outlets for popular chain food brands.
Construction of the northbound services began in early 2013, and they officially opened on 7 May 2014. Construction of the southbound services commenced in March 2014 and they opened on 19 May 2015
In September 2009, the independent motorway services operator Westmorland Motorway Services Ltd, jointly with a local charitable trust, Gloucestershire Gateway Trust, submitted plans for a service area at Matson for public consultation. Penny Lane is a road in the south Liverpool suburb of Mossley Hill. The name also applies to the area surrounding its junction with Smithdown Road and Allerton Road, and to the roundabout at Smithdown Place that was the location for a major bus terminus, originally an important tram junction of Liverpool Corporation Tramways.
