Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2X2CG3G - This night-time image shows the exterior of the Pizza Punks restaurant in Leeds city centre, illuminated by bold red neon signage. Multiple neon signs are visible through the glass frontage, including the words Pizza Punks and Sourdough Pizza, reinforcing the brand's focus on customisable sourdough-based pizzas. The intense red glow of the neon lighting reflects off the windows and interior surfaces, creating a striking urban visual typical of contemporary city-centre dining districts.
Pizza Punks is a UK restaurant chain known for its informal, fast-casual approach to pizza, combining sourdough bases with a wide choice of toppings in a modern, industrial-style setting. The Leeds branch is located on Park Row, a central commercial street close to major retail, office, and nightlife areas, making it a popular destination for evening dining.
The photograph captures broader themes of modern British food culture, the hospitality and casual dining sector, and the visual language of urban nightlife. Neon signage, once associated with traditional takeaways and late-night venues, has been adopted by newer restaurant brands to create a bold, contemporary identity. The image is suitable for editorial use illustrating UK restaurant chains, city-centre nightlife, food culture, branding, and the hospitality economy.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2K3XN9Y - How investors got burned by Chilango's burrito bonds
As investors in restaurant chain Chilango's burrito bonds face losing all their money
With average interest rates on savings accounts falling to under 1% for the first time, promises of 8% returns are bound to attract attention. But don't be fooled into placing your cash in high-risk mini-bonds. A mini-bond is a high-risk form of corporate debt.
This is something investors in restaurant group Chilango are just discovering. More than 1,000 people bought ?5.8m of its mini-bonds. The investments were dubbed burrito bonds because if you invested more than ?10,000 you could claim one free burrito a week. In November 2018 MoneyWeek warned readers to think long and hard before you sink your money into the burrito bond.
Now the vast majority of those bond holders stand to lose their money after Chilango announced it is entering administration. They will be reliant on returns from the sale of its assets, which the company warned last year could lead to them losing 99% of their investment, says Sarah Butler in The Guardian.
This is only the latest example of the significant risk mini-bonds present. In 2015 Secured Energy Bonds collapsed, losing investors more than ?7m. In January 2019 London Capital & Finance (LCF) went bust, leaving 12,000 investors facing a ?236m loss. Mini-bonds are examples of high-risk investment products that should come with a health warning, Myron Jobson, a personal finance campaigner at Interactive Investor, told The Times. If something seems too good to be true, it usually is.
Mini-bonds are an unregulated product
The problem with mini-bonds is that while the marketing is regulated, the product isn't. This means that, unlike cash savings, money invested in mini-bonds is not protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, which will compensate you with up to ?85,000 if your bank or building society goes bust.

Manchester Pride is regarded as one of the leading pride movement's worldwide, often trialling new innovative initiatives. Thus, it has sponsorships with some of the largest corporations worldwide, such as Virgin Atlantic, TikTok, Starbucks, Marc Jacobs and L'Oreal.
The organisation is managed by a Board of Trustees who are, in turn, Directors of the subsidiary companies Manchester Pride Limited and Manchester Pride Events Limited. The Board of Directors delegate operational functions to a paid Chief Executive Officer who is directly accountable to the board for corporate performance.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy P4HWMD - The Vagabonds Carnival Club was founded in 1947 by Ken Parsons and Walt Creedy, and the club's first entry, The Miners, took first place at Bridgwater Carnival. Members originally met at Unity House (the local Labour Party headquarters) for a room rent of one shilling per night.
The following year, the club moved to The Railway Hotel, and the new home brought further success, after winning the carnival concerts with the stage show Gay Bachelors.
The Bristol and Exeter Pub (St John Street) became home to the club in 1951, before it moved to Ye Olde Oake (High Street) after club member, Ray Heal, took a tenancy with local brewers Starkey, Knight and Ford.
In 2001, the club were looking for a new site to build its entries after being forced to leave its cart building site at Huntworth after 17 years. After identifying a suitable new site at Dunwear, the club set about constructing a new shed. The cost of doing this, in terms of both time and money, proved a heavy burden, and for the first time in its history, the club was unable to enter a cart into Bridgwater Carnival in 2002. So in true carnival spirit, some members rode the procession route on the back of a lorry, with the remaining members walking behind.
The club is currently based at The Gallery, High Street, Bridgwater.
Whatever happens, The Vagabonds Carnival Club has already done enough to stamp its mark in the annals of carnival history and will, with luck, continue to do so for a long time to come.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy MM9A0R - The leather subculture denotes practices and styles of dress organized around sexual activities that involve leather garments, such as leather jackets, vests, boots, chaps, harnesses, or other items. Wearing leather garments is one way that participants in this culture self-consciously distinguish themselves from mainstream sexual cultures. Many people associate leather culture with BDSM (Bondage/Discipline, Dominance/Submission, Sado/Masochism, also called SM or S&M) practices and its many subcultures. But for others, wearing black leather clothing is an erotic fashion that expresses heightened masculinity or the appropriation of sexual power
love of motorcycles, motorcycle clubs and independence
and/or engagement in sexual kink or leather fetishism.[1]

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy F7DC86 - BEA operated to Europe, North Africa and the Middle East from airports around the United Kingdom. The airline was also the largest UK domestic operator, serving major British cities, including London, Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Belfast, as well as remote areas of the British Isles such as the Highlands and Islands of Scotland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. From 1946 until 1974, BEA operated a network of internal German routes between West Berlin and West Germany as well.
Formed as the British European Airways division of British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC) on 1 January 1946, BEA became a crown corporation in its own right on 1 August 1946.
Inflight smoking is prohibited by almost all airlines
smoking on domestic U.S. airliners, for instance, was banned for almost all routes beginning in 1988, with all planes being smoke-free by the end of the 1990s. According to FAA regulations, smoking lit cigarettes or anything else that produces smoke or flame is prohibited onboard most commercial aircraft. However, the FAA has not issued a regulation for or against electronic cigarettes, leaving that decision up to the individual airlines

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy DDXKGB - LGBT Warrington is organised by LGBT members who are all volunteers. The group has built great relationships with partners, which include the Council, police, health and local businesses.
They are here to help and welcome anyone who would like to join us to stamp out the stigma people may have on the LGBT community.
The group offers support to those who need it on a 1-2-1 basis and is treated with great confidentiality, and point people in the right direction of the services they require.
They meet throughout the year mainly to have a brew and chat about life in general, to meet and make new friends, and for those who require extra support, to help by signposting to relevant services in Warrington. We also at times hold activities such as bowling, theatre trips, quizzes and games.
They also have nights out in the town centre at Cotton Mill or Show Bar and take part with events they are holding, or even have the odd night out to Manchester to Canal Street or to the theatre.
During the year they are also visited by guest speakers.
They welcome visitors and potential new members whatever their sexuality, though is open to 18+ only.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy DDXXWJ - LGBT Warrington is organised by LGBT members who are all volunteers.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy HE7MB4 - Opened by Felix O'Hanlon as The Railway Tavern, the pub was then bought by Michael Fanigan. Fanigan's son Patrick renamed and renovated the pub in 1885.
The Crown owes its elaborate tiling, stained glass and woodwork to the Italian craftsmen whom Fanigan persuaded to work on the pub after hours. These craftsmen were brought to Ireland to work on the many new churches being built in Belfast at the time. It was this high standard of work that gave the Crown the reputation of being one of the finest Victorian Gin Palaces of its time.
In 1978, the National Trust, following persuasion by people including Sir John Betjeman, purchased the property and three years later completed a ?400,000 renovation to restore the bar to its original Victorian state. Further restoration by the National Trust was done in 2007 at a cost of ?500,000. This work is the subject of a BBC Northern Ireland documentary, The Crown Jewel, screened in 2008.
A recognisable landmark of Belfast, the pub has featured as a location in numerous film and television productions, such as David Caffrey's Divorcing Jack (1998) and Carol Reed's classic 1947 film Odd Man Out.
The Crown has been given a Grade A Listed Building status by the Environment and Heritage Service.

Description: Tony Smith image Flickr 4311815905 - 'Like buses, premium bonds go quiet then what do you know, three come along at once. Pretty amazing, the excitement was huge opening each envelope (I sat down obviously) and finding £25, then £25 (will the next one be a £Million?) and another £25. Doh!
So I have not retired just yet. cannot wait until about 2015 when I may win (£25) again. Fingers crossed! Aparently one in three britains have some bonds so you may have some stashed away yourself.
The premium savings bonds are a bit nostalgic for the British and started in the 1950's. I have £2 of bonds that my parents bought for me in the 1960's.
It could have been one of those that won here, or a few more recent ones I got on-line, I will never know.
Still a cheque is as good as money for the moment. I better rush to teh bank before 11 March 2010 and get it paid in.
The bonds are drawn at random by the 4th generation ERNIE computer. This uses thermal noise in transistors as its source of entropy for generating random bond numbers. The original ERNIE used a gas neon diode. In each case the randomness of electrons and natural unpredictable variance of the physical processes involved mean that systematic trends and similar cumulative effects that affect any pseudorandom number generator are reduced greatly, if not eliminated.
ERNIE's output is independently tested each month by an independent actuary appointed by the government and the draw is only valid if the output passes tests that indicate it is statistically random. In case you were wondering.
With recent reduction in interest rates, an investment in the Irish Lottery bonus ball at Paddy Power might be a better bet for a huge retirement pot.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy CFE7J2 - A close-up image of an NS&I Premium Bonds prize cheque issued by National Savings and Investments in the United Kingdom, shown being held in a person's hand. The cheque is clearly identifiable as a Premium Bonds payment, a distinctive feature of the long-running government-backed savings scheme that replaces traditional interest with monthly prize draws. The visible layout, security features and printed details reinforce the official nature of the document and its role within the UK's personal finance landscape.
Premium Bonds are one of the most widely held savings products in Britain, offering capital security backed by HM Treasury while providing the chance to win tax-free prizes rather than guaranteed interest. The act of holding a physical cheque evokes a tangible moment of reward and reassurance, linking abstract savings decisions to real-world financial outcomes. Although digital banking now dominates most transactions, the paper cheque format retains strong symbolic value in representations of winnings, payments and financial success.
The image conveys themes of trust, security and everyday finance, reflecting how ordinary households interact with state-backed savings institutions. It also highlights the accessibility of Premium Bonds as a savings vehicle, often associated with cautious investment strategies, long-term saving and intergenerational financial habits. The close framing focuses attention on the cheque itself rather than the individual, keeping the emphasis on the financial instrument and institution.
This photograph is well suited for editorial use covering personal finance, savings, UK banking, government-backed financial products, cost-of-living discussions and household economics. It is also appropriate for commercial editorial contexts relating to financial services, money management, consumer finance education and representations of savings outcomes in the UK.
