Stained glass in the first floor window
In 1682, Francis Hildyard opened a bookshop in the building, known as At the Sign of the Bible. From 1762 until 1811, it was a library and bookshop owned by John Todd. In 1759, he sold the first 200 copies of Laurence Sterne's novel, The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman, now commemorated in a York Civic Trust plaque. The property continued to operate as a bookshop until 1872, when it was purchased by John Ward Knowles, a stained glass maker. In 1874, he completed a renovation
The Holy Bible sign
In reference to the building's history, there is a sign above the door depicting a bible, with HOLY BIBLE 1682 written on it
In 1999, the building was purchased by astrologer Jonathan Cainer, who initially sold horoscopes from it. In 2004, he worked with Uri Geller to relaunch it as the Museum Of Psychic Experience. Derek Acorah filmed an episode of Ghost Towns Live in the building in 2006. The following year, Cainer transformed the building into Haunted, a haunted house attraction, which closed in 2014 In 2015, it became the first Oliver Bonas shop in the north of England

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2AAEHWE - Glasgow Barrowland Ballroom (also known as Barrowlands) is a dance hall and music venue located in Glasgow, Scotland.
The original building opened in 1934 in a mercantile area east of Glasgow's city centre, built by Margaret Maggie McIver (n??e Russell) (1879?1958), The Barras Queen. The Barras street market (more properly Glasgow Barrowland market), after which the area and the ballroom are named, continues until the present day. The building was largely destroyed by fire in 1958, leading to a complete rebuild. The rebuilt ballroom opened on Christmas Eve 1960. The Barrowland building includes large street-level halls used for the weekend markets, with a sizeable weatherproof hall above. The front of the building is decorated with an animated neon sign. The sign is believed to be the biggest of its kind in the UK, although this cannot be confirmed as the original order documents detailing the specifications of the sign have been lost.
In more recent years the ballroom has become a major concert venue with a capacity of around 2,100 people, known for its acoustics and its sprung dance floor. Simple Minds filmed the video for their 1983 hit single, Waterfront, at Barrowlands. Oasis, U2, The Stranglers, The Clash, The Smiths, Big Country, Muse, Foo Fighters, The Vatersay Boys, Skipinnish and Marillion have all played at the hall. Adjacent to the ballroom itself is the Barrowland Park, where there is a pathway which features the names of many artists who have played at the venue over the decades. Northern Ireland punk band Stiff Little Fingers have played to a sold-out crowd every St Patrick's day since 1992, and recorded their Best served Loud album there in 2016 to celebrate 25 years at Barrowland.
Between 1968 and 1969, three young women (Patricia Docker, Jemima McDonald and Helen Puttock) were found brutally murdered after nights out at the Barrowland. All three murders were attributed to a man dubbed Bible John by police.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy 2DC6577 - The Cathedral Church of Our Lady of Good Aid, popularly known as Motherwell Cathedral, is a Roman Catholic cathedral located in Motherwell, North Lanarkshire, Scotland. It is the seat of the Bishop of Motherwell, and mother church of the Diocese of Motherwell.
Church of Our Lady of Good Aid, Motherwell was opened on Monday 9 December 1900. In 1948, the church was elevated to the status of cathedral after the new Motherwell Diocese was erected as a suffragan see by the apostolic constitution Maxime interest. The Scottish Catholic Directory of 1901 includes in the list of events for the year 1899-1900 the Opening of the Church of Our Lady of Good Aid, Motherwell on Monday 9 December 1900, the feast of the Immaculate Conception transferred from Sunday. It includes a description of the church's dimensions and principal architectural features.
The cathedral was designed in the Gothic revival style by the celebrated architects Pugin and Pugin and resembles many Catholic churches designed by them in Scotland, England and Ireland. The church originally had a high altar and two side altars. However, these and much of the ornate decoration were lost in the re-ordering of the sanctuary in 1984 in accordance with the reforms of the Second Vatican Council.

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy GY074E - St Wilfrid's Church is in Church Lane, Grappenhall, a village in Warrington, Cheshire, England. It is designated by Historic England as a Grade I listed building. It is an active Anglican parish church in the diocese of Chester, the archdeaconry of Chester and the deanery of Great Budworth
The church is Norman in origin, built probably in the earlier part of the 12th century and completed about 1120. This was a small and simple church, consisting of a nave, chancel and, possibly, an apse. The foundations of this church were discovered during the 1873?74 restoration.
A chantry chapel was added by the Boydell family in 1334 in a position where the south aisle now stands. From 1529 the church was largely rebuilt in local sandstone. The old church was demolished and a new nave, chancel, north aisle and a west tower were built. In 1539 the south aisle was added, which incorporated the Boydell chapel. The south porch was added in 1641 and at this time the west wall was strengthened. In 1833 the roof of the nave was raised to form a clerestory and in the 1850s the south aisle was further extended, and a vestry was built. There was a more substantial restoration in 1873?74 by the Lancaster architects Paley and Austin, which included the provision of new floors and roofs, at a cost of about ?œ4,000

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy EY3KR1 - History and General Description
The Church stands not east-west but square to the Roman Road north through Carlisle (the A6, in town Blackfriars St). It is therefore of early foundation, perhaps before St Cuthbert's visit to Carlisle in 685. The present Church, probably the fourth on the site, dates from 1778.
It has a unique moving pulpit, a fourteenth century window, a window commemorating our hospitality to a Latvian Lutheran congregation, and a very attractive series of windows depicting the life of St Cuthbert. It is open every day during daylight hours. Our motto is: Christian Hospitality

Twenty-two is a pentagonal number and a centered heptagonal number. When cutting a circle with just six line segments, the maximum number of pieces that can be so created is 22, thus 22 is a central polygonal number.
Its the atomic number of titanium. There are 22 letters in the Hebrew alphabet, 22 chapters of the Revelation of John in the Bible. In the Kabbalah, there are 22 paths between the sephiroth.
Psalm 22 (22nd in the Book of Psalm in the King James Bible), described by the New American Standard Bible as the 'A Cry of Anguish and a Song of Praise', is the Psalm to which the crucified and dying Jesus makes reference, citing its first verse in Aramaic (Matthew 27:46
Mark 15:34). There are 22 verses in Surah 'Al Burooj'(The Zodiac, or Constellations), in the Quran. Linking the Zodiac and the mystery of the number 22, as found in the Major Arcana.
The length of a cricket pitch is 22 yards. '22' is a common name for the .22 calibre .22 Long Rifle cartridge.
Catch-22 is a satirical and historical novel by the American author Joseph Heller. He began writing it in 1953, and the novel was first published in 1961. It is set during World War II in 1943 and is frequently cited as one of the great literary works of the twentieth century. It uses a distinctive non-chronological third person omniscient narration, describing events from different characters' points of view and out of sequence so that the time line develops along with the plot.
The novel follows Captain John Yossarian, a U.S. Army Air Forces B-25 bombardier. Most of the events in the book occur while the fictional 256th squadron is based on the island of Pianosa, in the Mediterranean Sea west of Italy. The novel looks into the experiences of Yossarian and the other airmen in the camp, and their attempts to keep their sanity in order to fulfill their service requirements, so that they can return home. The phrase 'Catch-22', 'a problematic situation for which the only solution is denied by a circumstance inherent in the problem or by a rule,' has entered the English language.
The might remember this track from The lady was not for turning.

?Whats this iPod Shuffle set all about? Read about it here
A great summer track for a Saturday with the sun flooding through my front window.
This is the eleventh track on the compilation 'Melting Pot'. I pass the cafe on the cover of this album most lunchtimes when I go into Northwich. It looks slightly different now after a recent paint &
decoration job. A few years ago I had the pleasure of having some of my framed live shots on the walls there.
The band consists of Northwich lad Tim Burgess (vox), Mark Collins (guitar), Martin Blunt (bass), Tony Rogers (keyboards) and Jon Brookes (drums and percussion). Northwich is the home of the band's own original 'Dead Dead Good Records' label and have inspired many local musicians.
the Charlatans are back in the studio to work on their eleventh album planned for release in August 2010. This also coincides with twentieth anniversary of the band's debut album, Some Friendly. The album is due for re-issue with bonus material, and an extensive UK tour for both the re-issue and new album launch is due to take place to support these releases.
If you have not heard them before, checkout 'Melting Pot' to be rewarded :-)

Description: Tony Smith image Alamy D8HDT9 - St Wulfram's Church, Grantham, is a parish church in the Church of England in Grantham in Lincolnshire. The church has been a Grade I listed building, since 8 May 1950.
In his book England's Thousand Best Churches, Simon Jenkins begins his description of St Wulfram's: Here is the finest steeple in England
It is believed that a church stood on the site long before Norman times, but of the original Saxon church probably only a few stones, near the organ loft, remain. The church was totally altered by the Normans and the remains of their church may still be seen in the nave. From its foundation until the 18th century, it was the only church in the town, helping to explain its size in comparison with the churches at nearby Stamford. Although there were a number of religious cells in Grantham, including a Franciscan Friary, the Grey Friars, west of the market place, the wealth of the medieval wool trade was channelled into St Wulfram's Church.
The north aisle arcades, except for the two west bays, date from before 1180. The original Norman church was ruined by fire when it was hit by lightning in 1222. The north aisle was rebuilt in about 1250. In 1280 the church expanded westwards over what was the market-place. The huge piers in the west end of the church have many 13th-century mason's marks, as do the spiral stairs to the belfry. In 1450 the north aisle was extended, and some time after 1496 St Katherine's Chapel was added by the Hall family. In 1550 the south aisle was lengthened and the Lady Chapel was built.
The church was restored in 1866-67 by Sir George Gilbert Scott. Of interest are window frames from different periods, the use of ballflower ornament and the crypt chapel. The north porch was built to house relics of St Wulfram (possibly an arm bone), and the chained library occupies a room over the south porch which was once a priests' living room.

Its a grade I listed building opposite the George &
Dragon pub in the centre of Gt Budworth. It receives accolades from many scholars of church architecture, including Clifton-Taylor, Richards &
Pevsner and was mentioned in the Doomsday book..
Its easy to enjoy, built in perpendicular and gothic styles. I often cycle here in summer, partake of a few pints of guest ale at the G&
